My 2010 LX with approx 140K miles has a very small leak in the washer fluid system somewhere. (We think). Every 1500 miles or so I get the "Low washer fluid level" warning sign. Never got it in 6 years, but now it's every 1500 miles. Dealer could not find leak. (Maybe it leaks to slowly?) I hardly use the washer fluid, but it's annoying to override this message every time I start the car.
View 2 RepliesLong story short, I have a small vacuum leak in the 4wd system. I disconnected the lines going to the hubs to prevent grinding them to pieces as they are brand new. This, of course lock the front hubs in and disengages the X-fer case in 2wd.
It is not engaging in 4wd unless I select it, so I don't imagine it hurting anything in the X-fer case or anything. Other than the extra rolling mass, is this okay to operate at until I resolve my vacuum issue, provided I close all openings and places for trash to get in?
I have a 04' RX 330 with 92k. It has small radiator leak. If you are standing in front of the car and look below the fan on the left side of the radiator you can see a small amount of red fluid that has leaked out of the radiator. However, the leak isn't big enough that I ever have to add coolant I just top it off when I get the oil changed. Also it doesn't puddle on the pavement when parked.
The only thing I really notice is that my windows tend fog abit easier now so I assuming the moisture must be making its way into the ventalation somehow. My mechanic said its about a $700 repair. My question should I fix it and is $700 reasonable. Also I've never had the timing belt replaced would it make since do have this done at the same time as the radiator. How long will it take before it becomes a major problem instead of a minor annoyance?
The leak appears to originate somewhere around the master cylinder but I cannot locate the exact spot.
I noticed the problem when I started the car and it began to generate white smoke in the drivers side. I also knew it was not oil or ATF because brake fluid smells different. I pulled the cover by the master cylinder (MC) and could see an area that was wet under the MC.
I may have a reservoir leak but I cannot pinpoint at this time. Photos will be provided later if I can take some that show the issue.. I do know they are expensive and I do know that Toyota and Lexus recalled several models for a leaky reservoir.
My rear washer fluid sprayer has always been pretty weak. I figured there was probably a leak in the line somewhere. When I adjusted my rear view mirror the other day, I saw some washer fluid leaking out of the roof liner by the driver side c-pillar. I've been having some trouble finding a good DIY on removing the c-pillar cover and patching/replacing the line, I'm hoping this will be a pretty easy fix. This is as far as I've managed to get on my own. Not far at all. Yes, that is the driver side. PhotoBooth reverses the image, since it's predominately used for face shots.
View 3 RepliesI recently noticed that our washer fluid is leaking. We had a massive snowstorm just over a week ago, and we accordingly went snowboarding. After returning that night, the fluid warning went off. I filled it, and that was that. We went again the next day, in which I used no washer fluid at all. The wipers alone took care of it. Anyhow, that night I kept getting the signal to top up the washer fluid again! I had added a full gallon the night before! So, I figured something was up.
Last night, I actually witnessed it dripping from underneath, about where you think it would. I wasn't able to see the actual tank, or any of the lines leading up to the filling spout, so I couldn't tell if there's a crack in anything, or if there's a bad connection somewhere.
Before that, the only indication that there might be an actual leak was "blueness" on the garage floor, but it honestly didn't look like any more than what you would get while filling the tank and having some miss and land on the ground. It wasn't a massive puddle or anything. The other indication was the "top off" warning.
My 2004 Phaeton has apparently developed a leak with the windshield washer fluid resivoir. Last week the check light came on for low washer fluid. I filled it and now a week later it's on again.
Is there anything in particular that I need to check? I thought I recalled reading about an issue concerning this but I've not found it.
Changing my oil today, been awhile since I had the hood open for an inspection a year maybe about 5 - 6K miles
It's been about 2 years since the prior owner had it in for a service, I recall they had it in right before we purchased it in August 2008

I noticed the inverter coolant level is no longer at full It's hard to see where it's at, actually
It's not below low, and it seems to be at least up to the bottom of the double seam that wraps around the tank, but I can't see where it levels off behind the seam
Should I be concerned enough to take it in to the dealer and pay them to hunt around until they find a small leak, or is it normal to lose a small amount of coolant over the course of a couple years
Should I just buy their high priced Toyota Super Long Life Coolant and top off the extra 1/8-1/4" or so until it's at FULL?
My '95 Avalon with 120K miles drive & handles like a Lexus. Had the power steering pump replaced 18month ago. Still has a small leak of power steering fluid. Which lines are likely to leak and how much should it cost to correct this in Colorado?
View 1 RepliesI had a small leak on the side cover of my trans so I decided to replace the gasket and take the opportunity to drop the pan and change the fluid and filter. However now I seem to have a pretty significant leak from the trans pan itself. The side cover seems ok.
The filter and gasket kit I purchased was a Wix brand. I don't have a torque wrench, so I just tightened to Germain torque spec (gutentight). However now I worry that maybe it's not the right spec, either too tight or too loose. The kit came with new spacers for the gasket and I cleaned the pan, especially around the lip where it interfaces with the rubber.
I have an 05 F-150 SuperCrew XLT 4x4. I just went to use my wipers and its not spraying anything. The driver side nozzle drips a little bit out, the passenger side does nothing. I can hear the motor engage and there is fluid in the reservoir. I can't see any leaks.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer and CEL is on, I got the code checked and its showing P0456 ("Evaporative emission system very small leak"). They recommended that I replace the gas cap, but I already tried that without luck. I have heard that the tubes in the system go bad and need replacing. I know some are located behind the back wheel but I wanted to give the ones under the hood a visual inspection so I have some clue when I take it for a repair.
My trouble is that I don't know what tubes I'm looking at! But I have some pictures, so at least we have that!
So the first one is zoomed out of the engine (obvious right?), just so you can see where everything is going. The hose I'm suspect of is the one that's to the left of the motor oil cap, the one I'm holding in the second picture. If you can see it, there's a split running down for about 6" -10"
What I'd like to know is did I assume right that this is (at least one) of the hoses causing my trouble with the evap system? And if it's not, which ones should I be checking out?
I have a 2002 F150 which has a small leak somewhere in the radiator system. I am looking to see if recommended using one of the Bar Leaks products for fixing cooling system leaks. I guess it is an aluminum based product the adheres to the inner services of the cooling system and can stop leaks.
View 6 RepliesIt all started with a fuel cap loose light (it wasn't) after a day or two the MIL came on and got this code I reset it but I'm sure it'll come back since there's probably a real leak. What can I check myself to find this leak?

2004 VW touareg v6 - engine light on - autozone diagnosed as code P0456. Possibly gas cap, so I replaced with aftermarket gas cap from auto zone. Light still on. What can I do or replace to fix problem. I read something about a N60 or N80 valve. Is this something I can buy and replace myself. Most of my mechanical experience is related to working on a 85 CJ7 with an inline 6cyl or Chevy trucks. If the N valve is a easy fix, any instructions and pictures of how to do this.
View 1 RepliesGot an engine light on today and had it checked at Advance Auto. It is P0442, "small leak in Evaporative emission control system". One article I read said to remove and retighten the gas cap, clear the code then see if it occurs again. If it does then replace the gas cap with a new OEM cap, and try clearing the code again to see what happens, as a first step in the troubleshooting process. I retightened the gas cap, but don't know how to clear the code and turn off the engine light.
View 3 RepliesOne of many issues I need to fix - headlight washer fluid cover seems to be stuck open. i applied moderate force to push it back in, but it did not move, and i do not want to risk breaking it.
I'm thinking some wiring isn't right, maybe connectors never got reconnected.. the auto adjusting headlights don't work either, and the washer fluid line from the firewall that runs to the washer fluid tank was hastily crimped on due to the plastic hose fitting being most likely broken off or lost. Does the bumper need to come off to mess with it? guessing yes.
CEL came on after a couple of driving cycles showing code P0456 (evap emission control system very small leak detected)............. car drives fine has good gas mileage.....
View 13 RepliesSo i noticed some red fluid on the garage floor where the gx parks. I narrowed it down to radiator fluid. Lower side drivers side radiator has some of this red in the corner. I don't see anything else leaking and the red drops are small. Is there something on that side that might be causing this besides radiator? A line that i cant see or noticed yet?

problem with washer fluid - the motor seems to work, but nothing comes out of the tubes...
I know the motor works, cuz there is water all over the engine compartment (near the battery) and down... soaked there...
so, my guess is that the rubber has come off the pump? where is the pump first off, and second, how do I get to all that? - just remove the cowl?
any diagrams or photos would be great!
