Just picked up a 2013 LX with low miles and wish to do some things to protect it from stone chips, etc. that are common on our roads. Yes, actually some dirt roads too. What are the best products to use on the headlights and fog lights to get some protection?
View 1 RepliesHad clear bra installed on my car. They had to redo the mirrors and the hood pieces because they didnt install the self healing film the first time. After the tech installed the second pieces I noticed an annoying whistling noise from the drivers mirror. I taped it off and even wedged a piece of thin plastic in the gap between the base of the mirror and the car to see if it would stop.
Anyway did a little research and found to my dismay that guys with the 4GS and 3IS are having the same issue when installing paint protection film on the drivers mirrors. As far as they know the remedy is to remove the film. I am assuming it has to do with the positioning or thickness of the film because it did not make any noise with the basic film installed and where it was installed.
I just went down to the garage and peeled it off, took it for a ride, and BOOM .....silence . Crazy that a thin film on the mirror could cause wind noise .
My car came stock with the LED strip on the grill and was wondering if there's a way to keep the lights from dimming when the headlights are on?
Noticed that with the stock ones but they get dimmer when you're headlights are on. I want to keep a constant brightness.
Any pictures or anything to show how to raise the headlight???
View 13 RepliesI need to adjust the headlights for my 2015 Lexus gs 350, because it's too low, and it do nothing in semi dark roads. I have removed engine covers, but still, I don't see anything that I can adjust for the headlights.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe the headlights are factory adjusted high enough because the headlight coverage distance is not as good as I'm used to seeing. I believe I will adjust my headlights for a slightly higher (upward) aim to see if it improves the distance the headlights cover.

View 14 RepliesI have both my wipers and headlights set to "auto". I was wondering if there was a setting somewhere that turned on the headlights when the wipers are consistently on. I took my first long road trip today and it rained the whole way. The rain sensing wipers were awesome and I didn't have to mess with the settings at all. But when it's raining, it's the law here to have headlights on and it's something I want to do anyway because it's hard to see vehicles in the road rain mist when the headlights aren't on. So I was forced to manually turn them on.
View 10 RepliesHow to do this without breaking anything? The other day I noticed a spider somehow got into my passenger map light and died in there. I have trim removal tools and stuff but I'm hesitant to go blind on this one for fear of breaking some clips or breaking the whole thing because I missed a screw or something like that. It doesn't seem like you can just take the plastic lens off the light, so I'm not sure how to proceed.
View 1 RepliesRecently had small body work done on our 2013 ES-350. Apparently (I'm assuming), they disabled the battery at some point and then activated it as almost all of my hard-learned and requested settings were gone! So, just realized that our interior overhead lights do not come on automatically in the car as we enter it at night.
Also, have always noticed that when we want the heater to come on, it seems like it takes at least 5 min. or so before warm air is felt. in our old Jeep, takes 30 seconds! Usually activate it by raising the temp up with the up/down arrows. Seems like if I turn on the window defroster setting, warm air comes out rather quickly from there but not when we want warm air from the dash vents.
Also, as an OMG - when trying to find the above info, came across the instructions that there is a trunk button that I can use to open it up. Have always had to go thru the trouble of pulling out my key fob, not realizing this - geesh, only took two years to find this out!!
Now I'm wondering if there are other features that were turned off that we're not aware of. In fact, does it make sense that all the settings should have been disengaged like that for a door repair - is it possible they didn't remove the battery but something else occurred to have lost all the settings?

View 11 RepliesAt 4800 miles I noticed condensation, moisture, or water in my tail lights assembly , I took it in for my first check up, provided pictures, the engineers at lexus said this was normal. I said mosture causes corrosion, may cause a short becauce water is a conductive element, and when it dries it will leave contaminates on the inside of the lights, they said all cars have this issue. I explained the my last 8 cars did not have this issue and I have put aftermarket headlights and tail lights on 2 my cars and they did not have this issue. Well the coversation didn't go well, I said if its so common how come its not in the manual, or a disclaimer on the car, what if I told buyers on your lot this was a common issue. I closed with letting them know it was time to let this be known. I also said just like the headlight issue's they will have to do something. The next day they called me and said they would change out the lights this one time. I am sure this not the last time this issue will be seen, the engineering at lexus is just too proud and hate to admit when they have a bad designed until law suits or deaths happen.
