"VSC" warning light...my car is completely dead, with warning light "VSC". Other than what the acronym Vehicle Stability Control stands for, I don't know what the issue is or what VSC is relating to. I can't get my car started to take it in for diagnostic testing.
The car is 2008 Lexus IS 250.
TPMs warning light on. I was wondering is the reason the TPMs warning light is on because I don't currently have a spare tire in the trunk i have the tire i mean but no wheel. and the sensor is just sitting in my glove box until the new wheel comes in.

View 4 Replies2009 LS600 ... Pulled up to a traffic light and noticed the red brake warning light had come on. When I went to pull away, the car would not budge! I turned the car off and restarted and it went fine.
Now, intermittently, the red warning light comes on and off. I tried googling this topic to see if there were any references to it happening but found nothing. It tends to come on when I'm slowing down but it has come on while normal driving as well.
I am the original owner of a 2007 LS460 with under 36K miles. Recently, my SRS (Airbag) warning light came on, but after I restarted the car it went off. However, shortly thereafter it came back on again, but it went off after I restarted the car. The last time it came on it stayed on. So I brought it into the dealer 2 weeks ago to diagnose it. They provided me with a service loaner ES350 and I'm still waiting for their decision as to what, if anything, they will do.
I discovered that on January 13, 2010, Lexus issued Service Bulletin Number 282827 in response to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) Action Number 10033557. Here is the Summary: "Lexus supplemental restraint systems. Some model vehicles may exhibit an srs light on condition with dtc b1861 and/or b 1866. After confirming the vehicle condition matches the bulletin, it will direct you to replace the instrument panel."
It appears that my LS460 matches that bulletin. Note that this is a Service Bulletin and NOT a recall, notwithstanding the fact that it pertains to a safety system, namely, SRS - the supplemental restraint system (airbags). My Service Adviser told me that because Lexus has not received enough complaints this matter has not been escalated to the level of a recall. He did not tell me how many complaints were received.
Because my car is out of warranty, my Service Adviser requested a courtesy repair from Lexus for the following reasons: (1) I purchased 2 brand new vehicles from this dealer (LS460 and RX350); (2) both vehicles have been serviced by the book; and (3) my LS460 has under 36K miles.
I would like to know if any other LS460 owners have experienced a similar intermittent airbag warning light and, if so, how that was resolved.
I have had this 2008 ES 350 since 2010. Best car I have owned. EXCEPT for winter driving as the wheels stop spinning and it leaves you stuck. give me the old rear wheel drive any day. The main concern right now is, my dash has a red "brake" light that has been on for a week now. sometimes in the afternoon it goes out for a while. I have almost 42,000 mi. would that indicate I need to change the brake pads, which in turn lowers the fluid?

View 14 RepliesCouple days ago it's -24C and I jump in car and head off to hardware store. Shop for 30 min and return and start the car. Starts ok but I notice that I have all sorts of warning lights on dash (ABS, Airbag, Parking Brake) and no power to my center console ie radio, climate stuff, fan etc. Also I can't move the shifter from Park.
Car's running so I dig out the manual to check the warning lights info and look at the fuse diagram cause maybe it's a blown fuse. Anyway 3-4 min after this, the power starts coming back to my center console, I hear the radio, then the fan then everything seems back to normal, except i still have dash warning lights and no shift action out of Park.
A few minutes later my dash warning lights start to go out, one at a time until only the ABS light is on. And my shifter now works. I wait a few minutes, make sure I have brakes, and drive home. Start it a few hours later and all is normal. And has been since.
A few days previous to that, in -27C weather my brakes froze and I had to do some serious pumping to get them to unfreeze. Maybe the two event are related.
After driving most of a day on the road a red triangle warning light came up on the dash and a PCS System Check light lit together with a Check PCS System message in the display site. I checked the fuses and they seem to be Ok. The car runs fine and I don't feel any effect on driving the car due to this message.
View 2 RepliesLast night, I changed to winter wheels and drove today with no problem. Just now one the way home, the low tire pressure warning light blinked for a minute and remained on. I checked the tire pressure and all 4 tires are even at 35psi. I tightened all wheels properly at 76 ft/lb using a torque wrench.

What are thoughts on changing every 7,500 if no pulling or hills? I am using synthetic Royal Purple. Is it worth the cost?

View 2 RepliesEver since I bought my 04 V8, the TPMS warning light has been on due to dead sensors and a disconnected controller (G model controller), and I had just learned to live with the alert and the icon on the display for the time being. Last weekend I installed a 6 button cruise control switch and recoded per Michael's instructions. The switch works fine and everything was good. After a couple of drives with the new switch I noticed that the TPMS was not giving me the usual failure message or the fault icon anymore. If I hit the Vehicle button I still get the same fault message in the J523 screen but no warning in the cluster, and no warning upon startup. Ran a VCDS scan and the errors for the TPMS module not being there are still present as they always were.

I resorted to replacing the batteries once a week (yes it was that bad). that was up until today when the car refused to start completely. Everything in it is dead, including the horns.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2009 that seems to have issues in the lower gears, I think that I have a transmission issue.
When I'm coming to a stop, I feel the transmission downshifting from about gear 3. It's not wildly jerky or abrasive, but it's not smooth either (or I wouldn't feel it). When it downshifts, after it engages (or torques down for lack of a better term) it feels as if it releases a bit, which makes me have to compensate with harder braking (again, not saying I am slamming on the brakes, but I have to brake harder so it doesn't feel like I am now going to coast into the car in front of me). It doesn't feel like the transmission is going to take off on its own, but it definitely feels like it has a certain threshold it wants to stay above.
In the loaner I have (RX), when coming to a stop the best way I can describe it is it feels like the transmission has completely disengaged and I feel NO transmission downshifting at all. The only way I get this type of braking in my LS is if I throw it into Neutral and take the transmission out of the loop. On the way to the dealership this morning to drop it off for other issues, I was at a stop light and went to accelerate and it felt as if it skipped a gear because I was stalled for a second (acceleration wise, not that the engine turned off) before it took off as it should. Also my acceleration seems to be a little hesitant when starting off .
My 2007 Lexus ls460L is completely nonresponsive to anything. The key won't work and it won't lock on unlock from inside the car either. How would I go about resetting the engine immobilizer?

I looked in the manual and it says that "When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute: Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system." The resolution is to "Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer."
All my pressures, including the spare are how I have them set. I also made sure to re-set the TPMS button under the steering wheel to the new pressures and everything. I'll let you know what I find out. I'm kinda mad a sensor has failed though on a car that's less than one year old.
I've been out of town for a week and left my almost new 2010 sitting in my carport spot. When I just went outside to start her up it is completely dead. Keyless entry wouldn't work so I used the key that pops out. Put the key by the start button and tried starting. Nothing happens. No lights. No nothing.
I guess I could have left something on maybe? This is pretty concerning! I don't know what to do! I don't even know how to jump start the thing. Would Toyota tow it for me for free if needed?
I just bought a 2010 RX 350 with comfort package with USA spec. My car is imported into Asia country, and I found a very strange thing, now matter how to flip the switches, I cannot cannot power up those 2 lamps !
