My center speaker grill in the middle of the dashboard makes rattle noises when the temperature drops. So in the summer the parts expand to be tight and no noise. As soon as the temp drops <60F, the parts shrink slightly and the speaker grill makes all kinds of creaking, rattling noises as the car goes over bumps, goes around turns, etc.

View 2 RepliesThe lower speaker grill is cracked, with one side pushed in and the other side pushed out. I would like to "iron" the crack back to a flat condition and see if it will be acceptable. If not I will need to get a new speaker grill. I looked, poked, and prodded, but cannot see how to gain access to the speaker. It doesn't appear to snap in. Is it secured from the back side?

View 4 RepliesPicked up a 2007 Lexus GS350 last weekend. Immaculate condition inside and out with 60K miles. Silver on Black. I was originally looking at a G35S, but the second I sat in the GS I knew there was no comparison. So unfortunately, the previous owner of the vehicle didn't fix the rattles.
I've searched the forums, and there's obviously tons of threads on fixing the rattles. Specifically, I looked here: [URL] .....
However, I'm still confused as to where PRECISELY I stuff felt between the windshield and dashboard. Is it drivers side to passenger side or just a section of it. I'd rather not stuff felt in places where it's needed on my brand new GS and potentially cause other rattles. So couple of questions:
- From where to where do I stuff felt between the dashboard and windshield?
- What's the ventilation cowl squeak? How is that different between the instrument panel rattle, dashboard chirp and central console creak as referenced in this thread: [URL] .....
I have 109,000 miles on my 2007 es350, bought in May 2006.
This weekend, I drove 2 hours, stopped for a few minutes, then when I started the car there was no sound from speakers. Just 2 tapping noises from right rear speaker. Turning the radio off, then on I only heard the 2 pop sounds.
I left the radio on even though no sound. Monday night, starting the car for the 3rd time that day, the speakers worked. The next morning the speakers did not work. Now I just hear the 2 tapping noises, when the car is started or radio turned off/on, then nothing.
This happened twice before, once last year and once 4 weeks ago. Both times, the speakers started working the next day.
i have been searching forums and cant find nothing with this exact problem. i have been having a problem with my ML stereo system, i have a 2007 Lexus Ls460L, like a week ago my driver side door speaker was going in and out then it just cut out completely, 3 days later all my door speakers and sub went out but all my highs are still on playing normal i see post saying the amps go bad but everyone says a chirping noise or no sound but i have sound but only in for my highs i have no bass at all.
View 2 RepliesMy car hasn't had the gps icon on for about a week. I've also had gps problems with my phone. I downloaded a utility on my phone that tells me how many gps satellites I'm connected to. When my car is off with the windows up and sunroof closed I'm connected to 10 to 15 antennas. When the car is on it drops to zero. I stick my phone out the window and it goes back up the 10 to 15. Also when I turn the car off it goes up to 10 to 15.
View 11 RepliesSometimes after opening fully, my trunk drops down again about halfway. I cannot think of any logical explanation for this. Moreover, it doesn't happen all the time. But the occurrences are pretty unpredictable. I took the car in to my service dept. and the trunk worked flawlessly. But later that same day, it malfunctioned. It makes a noise as it drops and comes down at a rather fast speed. In fact it's rather scary because if it didn't stop about half-way, it could be potentially harmful.
This happens even when there is no-one near the trunk.
I have a 99 Suburban 5.7L that does not like to start when outside air temperature drops in the fall. This only effects initial morning start and once started it starts and runs fine all day! If i give it a very small shot of either in crankcase vent opening in intake bonnet it starts and runs fine after that! The pump cycles and seems to be fine! Once started all is fine untill the next morning after it sets 12 hours! Could it be the AIT switch?

The cruise light will come on, but when I try to set it...nothing. The speed just drops off.
Starting this past winter, whenever the overnight temperature drops below 45 degrees, a loud grinding/whirring noise emanates from inside the middle of the dashboard of my 2006 Prius. The noise occurs in regular one second or so intervals, and appears to originate inside or behind the touchscreen and radio/CD player.
The noise continues for about 15-20 seconds, and then goes away. The problem won't reoccur until the car cools overnight - i.e. the grinding noise won't reappear if I start the car up again when it's warm.
I recorded the sound this morning and have attached a sample WAV file here. I had to upload it as a zip file because the upload facility on PriusChat apparently doesn't allow one to directly upload a wav file.
My drivers side window hates the cold, getting slower as the temperature drops. When it's real cold it gets to the point where it only goes up a fraction of an inch and stops, then I have to wait a minute and try again. I find that grabbing it and pulling while I hit the switch works a little. So I've researched the problem a bit. Don't think the rails need silicone lube as some suggest. I've seen one guy tap the window motor with a screwdriver, and a post about somehow getting to the brushes and cleaning them. I'm thinking just replace the motor, but it seems odd that it's temperature related.
View 8 Replies I have never seen any of my other cars do this and I just want to see if this is normal. It happens like clockwork every time I get in the car with a cold engine. I let the car sit while the RPMs are high and as soon as the tach drops I start to drive the car softly. The engine temp gauge reaches normal operating temp in a normal amount of time, it does not just jump to the middle. But after about 1 minute it just starts falling quite quickly, as you can see in the video. It's very predictable - happens every time I drive it so it was easy to catch on video. I don't notice any difference in engine performance. Is this normal for a VW GTI or is something wacky going on?

I have a 2004 Honda Civic that has about 183,000 miles.The problem is that when I start my car in the morning, the car never totally warms up when it's cold outside (I live in VA), until I press the gas pedal and rev the engine. Until I press the gas pedal, the temperature gauge stays at cold, and the heater blows cool air. I've taken it to the dealer 12 times for the same issue, but they can never find the real problem.
They flushed the A/C hoses and radiator, replaced the radiator cap, installed an upper hose, installed head gasket, water pump, and while there, the timing belt. They've also "burped" it numerous times. Also, when I have the heater on and fan on high, the temperature gauge drops as I'm going down a mountain and not pressing the gas pedal. After driving, and I stop, it also slowly drops while idling for about 5 - 10 min.
When it's warmer outside, I don't have any problems, because I don't have the heater on. This has been going on for about 1 1/2 years now, and it's starting to get cooler again, so I need to get it fixed or sell it.
