For several months there has been a rumble from the rear like suspension is faulty but inspection of strut and other parts showed no obvious issues. 60,000 miles one owner.
View 8 RepliesThe rear suspension on my 2013 F Sport AWD with 27,000 miles has started to squeak slightly. It doesn't do it all the time but is audible from within the car even with the stereo at low volume. When the road is smooth it's quiet but it'll squeak on even slightly uneven pavement.
Of course the F Sport has air suspension. I haven't experimented with the different ride settings or height adjustment yet but it is audible in Normal mode.
I have an 09 ls 460l with stock suspension and 22's. My rear suspension will hit the top of the fender over dips and bumps with rear passengers in the car. I have 285/25/22 on the rear.
View 14 RepliesI have an 08 LS base model, and recently while driving I'll hear a knocking noise coming from the rear suspension. This is every time I'll go I'll go over a bump. The knock is the same as when I had my 03 Acura TL .
View 6 RepliesJust came back from a ride and since it's getting pretty warm here I decided to drive with open windows. At low speed I noticed a unusual squeak coming from the rear passenger wheel when I got over small potholes. This part of the car seems to shake really fast a few time before settling. I can also hear a drum like vibration in the car coming from that corner. I can feel an unusual bounce which take time to settle when it happen. I'm no expert but from what I read the usual suspect should be either a defective shock of broken control arm ? I'll get a nearby garage to take a look next week. Gotta admit, like some members pointed out, I'm surprised to see those kind of issues on a car which didn't even broke the 45000 miles mark yet... And that's for a car that I take really good care of and not used as a daily driver.
View 7 RepliesI am having a problem with my rear suspension. The indicator lights on the dash (for the rear suspension control) are working correctly as are the controls on the center console, however the rear of my vehicle is stuck in a high position.
View 14 RepliesI bout a 2010 AWD LS460 in July and immediately noticed noises coming from the rear and front. The rear was a loud thud going over certain bumps and the front is making rattling noises. I lowered the windows and went down a rather bumpy block and the car sound like the bottom is falling out. I took it to the dealer and they had it for 2 and 1/2 weeks waiting on the rear air shocks to come in. They gave it back to me and did not address the front. Now the service manager is going away for two weeks and wants me to come back if I still feel the need to have the from done. The master tech stated the front left suspension needs replacing. I feel they are trying to drag this out so they dont have to pay for the repairs. The car has 80K and was bought from Bay Ridge Lexus and is not under CPO.
View 13 RepliesMy mother in laws 2012 Santa Fe had a number of dash lights on (ABS, hill decent, stability control). I put my scanner on it and came up with fault code C1209 which showed up as a faulty right rear wheel speed sensor. I have replaced this module and then cleared the codes.
However, the dash lights still light up and the vehicle continues to throw the same code. I don't work on Hyundai's very often so I am at a bit of a loss.
I'm getting a little rumble in my Lt Rear wheel bearing with just over 50k miles. I'm looking online at parts and the part number for the hub/bearing assy is 4246033030. It's showing up as a Toyota part as well.
Does the same part matches a Camry or Avalon? The Toyota version of the part is about half of the price.
Team 4th Gen. Just a heads up. When I first bought my 600, the radar cruise was throwing an error due to a faulty brake light switch near the brake pedal. It was repaired but it appears the adjustment on that switch may not have been done.
I noticed cars rushing up on me as I was slowing down and turning many times, even causing a car to swerve hard to avoid hitting me.
I realized my brake pedal needed to be about 3/4 pressed to engage the brake lights. I also noticed I had to really mash the brake to disengage the cruise control. I then noticed when someone drove my car and came to a light. No brake lights even though they were def slowing down and not coasting.
So i had my oil changed today and had them investigate while it was there. There is an adjustment to that switch component and now the lights come on with hardly any pressure on the pedal and cruise disengages with very slight pressure on pedal as it should.
Have just leased 2008 pasat 2.0l turbo. Great engine but suspension has loud rumbles /noise on uneven pavement. Have lowered tire pressure to 30 . suspension noise still persists. only have 1500 miles. dealer says that everything is still to factory spec.
View 5 RepliesWhen I go over bumps or rough surfaces I hear a rattle in the rear suspension. It sounds similar to the noise bad ball joints make. I recently had the car aligned and the shop said they couldn't find anything wrong. I'm going to take a look myself but was wondering if this might be a common problem. If maybe there are certain bushing that are known to wear out.
View 2 RepliesHave an 07 Mazda6 with 110k miles. It developed a clunk in the right rear suspension about 6 months ago. Constant clunk at low speeds, whether small bumps, snow-covered roads, etc. Been to five different mechanics with no luck.
So far, the rear shocks have been replaced; made no difference. Stabilizer bar and end links were removed from car and driven carefully around the parking lot; no difference. New control arm lateral links installed; no difference. Top shock mount plate is tight, and rear coil springs removed and inspected during that process; no difference. No brake pad retaining pins are missing.
When I sit in the back of the car with the seats down, the sound seems to come from the top of the shock mounting area, but perhaps the noise is just traveling up through that area of the car.
Could it be a bad lower control arm bushing? Each mechanic checks them with a bar and reports little play. But I don't know where to go next. Car drives fine, but the noise is maddening.
I have a 2004 GX470. Been a great car. Has 310k miles and very little in repair. My current problem is the rear air suspension leaks down. The problem is not 100% of the time but probably 80% when the car is left parked and off, over a few hours the air is released and the rear is sitting on the bumpers. My theory is it is not the air bags as if one leaked it would be doing this every time the car sits.
My hunch is it is either the component that releases the air is not sealing up every time after it releases the prescribed air when the car is parked. ( That sound it makes when you get out and it lowers the car a little each time) ... Or the sensor tells that component to let more air out and it does not tell it to stop.
I need to change the rear brake pads on a 2007 Expedition and was going to turn the rotors also. It appears the rotor is held onto the axle by a large nut and not having done any brake jobs in several years, I've never run into a rear rotor that's bolted on. Is this the case and if so, what size socket do I need to get it off. Also, I was curious if there is anything else I need to know before I dive in. I heard it was difficult to get off.
View 7 RepliesSo my rear air suspension just went out, I'm assuming that my air bags have a leak or a hole because the air compressor shut its self off. I'm thinking of just getting rid of the air system completely and just putting on some good shocks and leveling it out.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 GX 470 that I use to tow a boat ~3500 lbs. Typically, when I attach the boat to the trailer hitch, the rear end of my GX 470 will lower ~1.5", then the air suspension will activate and bring the rear end back up to a nearly level position. Lately, the air suspension has quit working.
I've taken it to my dealership, they've checked it out and told me that the system is working fine. When I brought it home and attached the boat, the air suspension is still not working. I've got an appointment on Monday to haul the boat up to the Lexus dealer and show them the problem. I can use the air suspension switch to raise the the rear end and the pump seems to work just fine.
I'm thinking that, although the "system" is working fine, somewhere there has to be a sensor or switch that tells the system to work - that isn't working.
After a long drive, I got up and out of the car and heard a creak/clang type of noise from the rear suspension. Sat back down in the front and rear seat and it makes the noise. Pushed on the rear of the car and the noise is not there. What gives. Yes I seem to discover a lot about my car in the last 5 months of leasership.

Symptoms: Very audible squeak from suspension front and rear (not as bad in the rear) when going over bumps. It happens mostly on the driver side. I can replicate the squeak when I push down on the car in the front. It only happens when the weather is warm, lately when it's been 60 degrees or less, it doesn't make any noise really.
Another squeak I'm hearing is when I get in the car first thing after it's been sitting a while, there's a squeak that's coming from mid-body area (I think), and happens when I turn right, transferring weight to the driver side.
I've searched and saw numerous threads but haven't really been able to get a clear idea of what may be causing this. I did have someone lube the control arm bushing (at least I think we did) and the noise did not go away. Car feels smooth, but I wouldn't rule out shocks as a culprit. I'm trying to get ideas and narrow things down so I can start hunting for it when I have free time.
At my 30,000 mile service about 6 weeks ago I reported to the service manager that the suspension seemed noisy at low speed over undulating side roads. They could not duplicate the noise. Now with the cold weather, the noise has increased considerably to the extent that my wife who claims never to hear any of the noises I obsess about, asked me what is that knocking noise
I have made an appointment at my dealership first thing on Monday and they are going to ride with me and if necessary use the "chassis ears".
From everything I have read it has to be control arm bushings or the air suspension. I think the fact it has worsened considerably now the temperature has dropped eliminates the brake pad rattle possibility.
My rear air suspension keeps dropping. Sometimes my suspension goes down all the way when parked, but not all the time. When I start the car it goes back up. It's a 2003 GX470.
