When I start up my LS460, i hear some rattling noise comming from the engine..sounds like rocks/sand? im not sure but it only happens when i start up the car..after that..the car is completely quiet and drives perfectly fine...
View 14 RepliesWhy my suspension is so loud and clunky are doing a swaybar link and upper control arm replacement? I did remove the air suspension unit in order to access and remove the bolts that hold the upper control arm bracket mount onto the frame.
I did not think that would do any harm. Now my suspension is way louder than it ever was to begin with.. I just did a visual inspection and saw that my original parts were cracked and worn in the bushings and links. So I did a swap.

I went to go pump gas and this happened. Had to tow it back home. Battery is a few months old. I also tried putting a fully charged jump box to it with no results.
Gonna hook a scanner to it later to see if there is any code. (Shouldn't be any if it's the starter...correct???)
I hooked up a scanner to the car and found:
P0335 ( Crankshaft position sensor)
P0340 P0345 P0365 P0390 Camshaft position sensor
I guess its safe to eliminate the starter. Do all the sensors need replacing or do you think one particular sensor is causing all the other sensors to go off as well.
I purchased a brand new 09 LS 460 a few weeks ago - it is an amazingly beautiful car and a joy to look at.
Unfortunately, I think I have the dreaded wind noise problem, as there is very noticeable wind noise above about 65 mph - it gets pretty bad when it is really windy outside.
I love driving the car and have a long daily commute - however, this issue it starting to bother/annoy me and I find it takes away from my enjoyment.
So just yesterday, I'm driving and I noticed that dreadful thunking suspension noise. Is this the control arm problem I've been hearing about so much? The 2007 only has 40,000 miles on it. I guess the age of the car is the culprit there right? Or maybe these arms really do go out quickly.

Like an air compressor for a few seconds. It's not loud, but you definitely hear the whine/air type noise. It's almost not even bothersome for me as I've gotten used to it. But when my wife or others are in the car they always ask "what is that"
Ly 2007 LS 460 just started have a wind noise around the drivers side door pillar. Is it time to change the rubber molding around the door. If so, where would I start to buy one?
View 3 RepliesI recently purchased a beautiful 07 LS460 with 24K miles about 3 weeks ago.
About 2 weeks ago, I noticed a loud clicking / hammer noise from the dashboard lasting about 15- 20 seconds and after reviewing numerous threads here, I realized it could be my blender door / damper due to the infamous cabin air filter change. .
It must be noted that the Dealer did not change the cabin air filter and when I looked inside my glove box, I could easily open / close the blender door using the recirc ac button. Additionally, my cooling and fan is working fine as well, so I am not too sure that this is a blender door issue.
My question is that the noise continues to happen for about 20 seconds when the car is started and shut off. Since my blender door / damper opens and closes smoothly, is the servo motor going bad or servo sub assembly?
If it is my servo motor, could it be possible that it was damaged when the cabin filter was replaced? With the car only bearing 24K miles, I cant believe my servo motor has already gone bad!
I picked up a 09 ls460 swb a few months back and am slowly turning it into my daily.
at an angle causes a loud popping noise from my roof. I checked the headliner to see if anything was loose but came up with nothing. This occasionally happens on sharp turns on uneven ground.
I recently lowered my car so now this is happening way too often.
I have some FAINT clicking noise at the rear of the 08 LS460 and I'm thinking it's rear bearing going out..but not sure...what exactly does bearing failure sounds like? I hear this SOFT clicking noise from (more likely) the right rear. The noise is very faint and I have to roll down the window to actually hear it.
If I move through the neighborhood at about 15-20 mph, I hear this clicking faint clicking sounds..and if I speed up a little, the clicking noise increases (in frequency, not loudness). When I go faster like on freeway or normal road, I can't hear it anymore. Probably clicking too fast or not as loud at that speed. With windows up, I can't hear it at all.
Is this has to do with rear bearing going out on me or possibly something else? Any recommendation where I can start looking at? Is it brake pads? The car is 35K miles but since it's 08, unfortunately it's out of basic warranty (time). Is this covered under powertrain?
I have a 2011 LS 460 with 28K miles in very good shape although there is a noise most audible when I am in a stop sign that disappears when I shift the transmission to "P". The noise is like a tackat tackat tackat tackat . I took the car to the dealer and the service advisor claims is normal. Is it or my car is defective?
View 7 RepliesPurchased a new LS 460 first of this year. Definitely not as quite as my LS430 and has an annoying pinging sound which the dealership says can't be fixed and is a normal sound for the car. Talked today with Service Manager and his lead mechanic and was told this is normal.
Problem: When I purchased this car for wife I had an expectation that it would be a quite running car. Not sound like a diesel engine, especially when at idle. I've read about others with the same problem and wonder if there is a fix out there for this annoyance. Lexus claims it is a fuel injector noise. Some people here stated that had there car fixed by Lexus Engineers.
My LS 460 has a pulsing wheel/front end noise that seems to increase as the speed increases from 5 mph to about 30mph and then fades out. I brought it in for service and they test drove it twice with 1 and then 2 service techs. They could hear the noise and said to me that they think it is cupping on the tires. The tires are in great condition inside to outside.Tires have only 14000 K. I switched the back to the front. The same dut-dut-dut-dut sound increases as the speed increases to about 30mph.
I believe that the noise is something more serious. I noticed that when the suspension compresses over a high point in the road at say 20mph the sound will stop during the time the car is comming of the high point in the road. Could this be a bearing/suspention- or something with the breaking motor because I also have been using the break hold feature for several months and not sure if that could cause harm. Also I do hear more grind or grumbling when turning the wheel to the left at low speed then when turning to the right.
Need to change a starter of an ls460? My car died on me yesterday and i strongly feel its the starter. When i push the start button i get a loud click noise.. after playing with it for 20 min it actually started. Battery is good, no codes..
View 14 RepliesRecently purchased a LS-460(CPO). The vehicle has 36,000 miles logged. I've had a few issues in the first few months:
1) Whining noise coming from the right front wheel assembly..front rt bearing worn.
2) Replaced homelink system..would not program.
3) Glove box had to be replaced due to not closing properly(adjustment not possible)
4) Plastic coating on all 4 locking lugnuts was chipping and rusting. I'm not trying to be a troll here..however, just not what I expected from Lexus. I really enjoy driving the vehicle..I'm just not sure I want to own it outside of a warranty.
Strange ticking noise that you can hear in the cabin sounds almost like a exhaust leak or a fan blade ticking something under the hood.. I have had the dealer check it they say nothing is wrong i just can't believe a 75k car can have this noise...
View 14 RepliesNew LS 460 owner (2010 swb). Owned the car for two months now and started hearing a clunk noise from the rear when the car accelerates very slowly. Showed it to the dealer and they could not replicate.
Also hearing a water rustling noise from the right side (appears to be coming from the passenger door); again, this occurs only when the car is accelerating gently from rest.
I have a 2009 460 awd with adjustable suspension and when making a right turn the front left side makes a noise. I have had the dealer look at it 5 times or more but each time I am told that there are no problems. Now that the weather is getting colder it is becoming more pronounced.

View 6 RepliesJust purchased a 2010 ls with 20,000 miles on it. Brakes make a popping noise when coming to a stop. Not all the time, seem to get worse as brakes get hot. Have had to dealer twice they have resurfaced rotor, bled system put new pads. Still have noise my service manager opened a trouble in the lexus system and called Atlanta. They said this is characteristic of this car. I drove a couple of other ls cars and did not hear the noise. Not sure where this is going to end up. I saw where the brake actuators where changed on the 07,08 and 09.

I checked and made sure there was nothing loose rolling around in the trunk. any nothing loose.
