Lexus LS 2007+ :: Passenger Seat Rattle When Unoccupied
Sep 17, 2013
Had this issue when the car is driven over rough roads. The rattle is suppressed if I lean over and hold the seat.

View 4 RepliesSignificant vibration/rattle in the front passenger seat AND had it fixed to your satisfaction? It only occurs when the seat is unoccupied.
View 14 RepliesI need to get my front driver seat and passenger seat replaced because they look so beaten down. The cushion is almost gone and looks very wrinkly.
I really need to come up with the excuse because i doubt they will let me change it if i tell them that its getting wrinkly and the cushion is gone.
The passenger seat belts on my 2011 do not 'give' a little. When someone shifts in their seat, the belt tightens up (allowing little to no movement)...almost to the point of being uncomfortable. Is this normal/expected behavior? Or do I need to have them looked at?
View 1 RepliesThe back of my passenger seat rattles, resonating when going over bumps (and not weighted with a passenger). I've lifted my back on the driver's seat and it doesn't seem to rattle over the same bumps. How to tighten it up?
View 4 RepliesI have a problem on my 2009 Lexus ES 350, this morning I found out the passenger side power seat is not moving at all in any directions (up, down, front, back etc.) However the driver's side is working. It was working in the past, but I would not know for how long it has stopped working as I don't normally press the buttons on the passenger side except when I want to clean the car.
I tried going through the owners manual to check if it is a blown fuse, but on opening the hood the fuse referred to as Power seat fuse is big fuse that cannot be pulled, also checked the one under the steering compartment, I could not find it either as from the manual it is not a regular fuse either. On second thought I was thinking if it a blown fuse both seats should not be working except they are wired separately (I don't know, just a guess).
I have 2010 LS460L with 76K miles and I hear rattle noise in from driver and passenger side. I took it to the Lexus service center and they said it's the air suspension problem and need to replace this part and would cost about $2K per suspension.
My question is is there anyway I could convert this air suspension to standard coil or gas shocks from Air suspension??
I will be using this for a Limo in NYC and the road conditions are terrible and air suspension is not going to last that long and they are expensive.
New MK7 GTI here in Canada with leather. 5-door.
Roughly 6,000km so far and started noticing a rattle coming from the front passenger seat. Initially I thought it was the fuel line problem that some have been having so I contacted my dealer and they stated my particular car wasn't flagged for that recall at all.
The weird part is that the rattle goes away if I even lightly place my hand on the seat, an comes back as soon as I take my hand off. I got under the seat to see if it was a wire connection hitting the metal of the seat and everything appears to be in order.
I'm not sure if this is an epidemic or not but I thought I remembered seeing some others with this issue: when driving alone, usually in cooler temps, the passenger seatbelt buckle near the console rattles like a mofo. I have seen some reports of people getting it fixed at their dealership, some managed to get it done under warranty with some effort. I'm considering trying to fight the dealership to do it under warranty when I go in for my 30k service, but wondering if it's something I could tackle at home. Hasn't been too bad since the weather warmed up so not even sure I could duplicate the issue for the dealer tech.
View 11 RepliesLately I've started having an intermittent metallic noise that has been bugging me. At first it occurred on long runs and sounded like it could have been the brakes or something similar. It is not too loud but is continuous, rather like gently rattling your set of keys.
It got steadily worse and I eventually tracked it down to the passenger seat. When I held the seat the metallic rattle stopped.
135 plus pound passenger with seat belt on. Was intermittent on/off with passenger but now seems always off (off light 'on' ) meaning the passenger airbag is disabled.
I know the es350 was so bad like this that there was a threat of class action. I've read the weight sensor is in the passenger seat rail and you can also do a calibration with a scan tool.
I have a rattle coming from the third row seats when they are in the stored position. It is mainly when I hit rough roads and uneven terrain.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2010 Lexus RX 350 with 27K on the odometer. Since around the 15K mile mark I've been dealing with rear seat rattles, and that's a nice way of putting it. When I drive over the wonderfully pocked marked roads of Los Angeles, the rear seats vibrate, rattle and clang as if they are coming apart. I replicated the noise for the service guys at my local dealer. To their credit they replaced the track locating pins on the rear seats.
Unfortunately, that made things worse. The car rattles and clangs more than before. It has gotten so bad that I am considering selling a car which I bought outright just 2 years ago. By the way, I have already ruled out common sources of rattle complaints like the trunk cover.
My 2 week old IS 350 Ultra white/Red F sport is in the shop for the rattle that feels to me to be under the car under the driver's seat. The dealer cannot figure out the problem after a day, so is keeping my new car. At least they were able to hear the rattle.
View 1 RepliesLoving my Black on black ES350 so far with 4000 miles, bought July!
Having a very annoying rattle/creaking near the seat belt pillar on the driver's side? This occurs continously even on smooth highway roads. I will ask them to check it out at the 5k service.
Also, my steering wheel slightly "clicks" when turning the steering wheel 1 full turn to the right. It doesn't do it on the left side, and doesn't seem right. No turn signals or anything is on. Just seems flimsy with all these noises!
I noticed today that the bass from the Infinity stereo in my Santa Fe was making my passenger door rattle pretty bad. I haven't noticed this before (maybe it was from the cold weather?)
Has taking off inner door panels fixed the rattle? I read a few threads that made it sound like people just took them to the dealer.
About a month ago, I noticed my 2007 Mazda3 making a rattling noise whenever the front passenger window is anywhere from cracked to almost all the way down. When the window is up or all the way down, there is no noise. When the door is in it's "sound-prone" state, I can replicate the sound either by going over a bump or just pulling and pushing on the door interior door handle. I've looked this up online and it seems to be pointing toward me needing a new window regulator. I haven't noticed any function loss, just the rattling sound that makes it sound like the car's falling apart. Does this seem like the right thing to try? What would cause the regulator to malfunction after only four years? Should I buy new or look for it at the local salvage yards? If it matters, my Mazda3 has electric windows.
View 4 RepliesI recently noticed that when my girlfriend sits in the front passenger seat the light will randomly indicate that the passenger airbag is off. I took it to the dealership, they ordered me a new light to see if that is the problem.
Its really weird, she will be sitting in the same position for over a hour sometimes and then it will suddenly say that her airbag is off. the dealer said they tested the seat switch and it was working properly.
I will be bringing it in this week sometime and we will see what they say about the light. For now I have decided to take a picture/video everytime it happens to document it.
I have a 2007 Mazda Miata that I just found standing water under the passenger seat. Took it to dealership the drain is plugged if I had brought the car in when under warranty they would have done the retrofit it needs to fix their lousy design problem for free. I am trying to talk to Mazda and the dealership about them fixing the problem for free. They issued a in house service bulletin but not to the public.
View 6 RepliesHave a 2010 GX 460 with dual dvds in the head rests. They are OEM not aftermarket. Both worked great until I had the car detailed a few days ago. Now the one behind the driver's seat works but the one behind the passenger seat does not. The screen changes from a dark color to a slightly lighter color but never gets a picture.
View 13 RepliesTraveling down Highway 27 yesterday in my 2007 Santa Fe, doing 65 MPH, when all of a sudden I hear a tapping at the passenger seat window. There it was, the gasket that surrounds my windshield had pulled loose and was flapping in the wind, occasionally tapping on the window.
I have never had the windshield replaced nor had any notion there was a problem. I had no tools with me but tried to force the gasket back into its place. Lasted only a couple miles.
Took it to the Hyundai dealer in Ft. Myers who proceeded to tell me they didn't do windshields and that it was not covered under the warranty. I have 44000 miles and it is a 2007. Does that seem right?
I can understand light bulbs, oil changes and things like that not being covered, but rubber gaskets around the windshield?
