I just bought a 2008 LS600 Obsidian with Exec package. Happy with the car except for some steering vibration at low speeds when turning. Took it to Newport Lexus...they say..."normal for an AWD LS600".
View 11 RepliesI'm new to Lexus ownership and have recently purchased an 08 certified LS 460 L with the air ride suspension. It's a phenomenal car, I'm now a convert to the brand. One small thing I noticed though is a slight jiggle or vibration coming to the steering wheel at moderate speeds. It is very dependent on the road surface, Seems to dissipate on the highway. Alignment was checked before delivery and feels fine and the tires themselves feel balanced. It's not upsetting, I'm just curious if this is something normal to the air ride suspension. Other than this the car is an absolute gem with only 35,000 miles.
View 4 RepliesI noticed lately that my ls is barely blowing air through the vent. I can hear the climate operating but there is barely any air coming out.
Tried to replace the air filter to no avail. Car in the vid run on electric mode but when I'm driving it's the same thing.
I have just over 11K miles on my 2011 and now notice steering wheel vibration & slight shake at 70 mph. The passenger can also feel it.
View 14 RepliesMy car is a 2008 LS460 SWB. I bought it with 69,000 miles on it, has about 75,000 miles now. Car has had a rear end vibration at speeds of 60 mph+ since I bought it. The vibration seems to lessen when I have a full tank of gas. So...I took it to my Lexus dealer. They put it on the lift and showed me how the two rear tires appeared to be slightly out of round and said that was probably the culprit.
I then bought winter tires and put them on. Still had a vibration. Was told to wait until I put all season tires on, then they'd start to pursue.
I put Pirelli P7s on yesterday. Seem like a great tire, but I'm still feeling a rear end vibration. All 4 wheels were road force balanced. I will be taking my car back to my Lexus dealer to see if they can diagnose. What are causes of rear end vibration. Wheels are not bent, BTW.
I have a weird vibration only at freeway speeds. It's a vibration that lasts 3 seconds but are consistently 2-3 seconds apart. It's a very suttle vibration and can be felt at my feet and slightly on the wheel. My passengers can feel it if I mention it. The key thing about the vibration it's starts and goes away the starts and goes away?

View 12 RepliesOwned my 2009 for 6 months now. Ever since purchasing it, car will vibrate significantly at highway speeds when first driving it, then decrease by 90% after a few miles. At first, since I purchased in winter, thought it was cold flat spots on tires. Dealer changed tires 3 times, finally with a new set of Turanza OEM tires. Still does it.
Service manager said he drove new 460's and they all do the same thing for a few miles. I have seen other comments on internet from other owners who report the same phenomenon. Don't think it is the tires since we went through 3 sets and it still does it in the summer. What else could cause a vibration until the car is warmed up?
I replaced my tires yesterday with Bridgestone Turanza ER33 (245/45/19).
After replacing the tires, there is is an extreme vibration in the front end of the car when braking at highway speeds (60+ mph). Braking at sub 50mph speeds is completely normal. No lights, no vibration while driving. What could be the reason?
Also while removing the lug nut locks, the locks key broke apart (the black piece came out of the key). After like 45mins of trying, finally we got the locks out. I threw them away.
I searched online for regular lug nuts, but couldn't find any beside ebay. The local dealer says I need to wait for 3 weeks to get them from Japan! Where can I get a set of 4 regular lug nuts online?
I'm now running on 4 lug nuts on each wheel. Could this cause a problem? Could the vibration be caused by not having a 5th lug nut in place?
I have a 2010 LS460 AWD with 42k miles and notice when I am making a medium to wide angle turn at parking lot speeds the front wheels make an intermittent metallic clicking/ticking noise that can be clearly heard when the windows are down and stereo is off. The noise can be heard when turning in either direction, driving forward or in reverse, and both accelerating and slowing down. Doesn't seem to happen when I'm turning the steering wheel while the car is stationary. Dealer suspects noise is due to dry contact areas between pads, calipers, and anti rattle springs and wants to perform a brake service for $330 before they're willing to investigate further (car still under warranty till end of the year). If noise is brake-related shouldn't it only occur when I'm applying the brakes? What should I do?

View 14 RepliesAbout month ago I found used lexues es 350, 2008 in one of the dealership and bought it for my daughter . I test drive the car and found the vibration steering on speed 57_65 or .not like real lexues which is smooth. Any way I thought with alignment would be fix. But no luck.
I found another Lexues repair. They said I need to change [B]transmission and motor mount I bought it and after replace same as before.
Some other one told me could be Torque converter. This is really big problem and I can't let her drive the car.
I just noticed a vibration in my steering wheel at idle with the transmission in Drive. Seems like it goes away or gets better as the car warms up.

When accelerating hard, the car will aggressively drift to the right. During normal driving it is otherwise fine.
When braking from 60-70mph, I will also get a significant vibration in the steering wheel.
What can be the issue here? I've read possible brake rotor, tire out of balance, alignment?
Are these 2 issues connected?

View 8 Replies2008 ES350 with 170k miles. My wife drives the car almost exclusively but we went on a road trip and I had the opportunity to drive it for a few hours.
I noticed at idle there is a chirping sounds from the belt area like it could be a water pump or another pulley going out.
Other data points:
At speeds over 80mph I feed a vibration in the steering wheel. we are 1k over getting the tires rotated so that may clear this issue up.
low speed in a parking lot I had the wheel at full lock turning and it felt like it "slipped" and it made a noise. This made me think the power steering pump could be what is going out.
I need to check the fluid levels tonight and see if either is leaking ( there is nothing on the garage floor)
Are there any good DIY's for a waterpump or power steering pump replacement? Once I diagnose the problem I would like to fix it myself.
Are these common issues with the ES350?
Recently when I was on a longer distance drive (multiple hours) my car was producing an unusual vibration. It seemed to go away after some time. At the end of my drive I was turning left around a bend and there was knocking sound. One of the boots on the cv joint has been leaking grease so I went ahead and replaced both cv axels.
The knocking is still there. Here are the symptoms:
- Knocking sound when turning left when the accelerator is down.
- Knocking sound is somewhat intermittent when turning, not always continuous.
- The vibration is not always there and is only there at higher speeds, and is made worse when accelerating.
- All of this appears to get worse the longer the car is driven (heat?).
It is a '90 Nissan Maxima. I just replaced my drivers side axle (cv joint was clicking), and now my car vibrates at highway speeds when turning right. I am pretty sure I seated the axle correctly....could it be a bad axle? I heard that turning the axle 90 degrees and reinstalling may work? I got a new axle (Empi brand).
View 2 RepliesSince I got my car back from the dealership after changing the rear shock this summer, I can feel a vibration in the car at highway speed. After the shock were replaced the car steering wheel was out of balance and pulling one side. After they attempt to align the car about 5 times it got a little bit better. Then I found out that they had an accident with my car and tried to hide it: [URL] ....
I suspect the tie rod may have been damaged so that could explain the steering issue. It also seems to have gotten worse over time. I'm trying to figure out the possible cause, if directly related to the tie rod damage or indirectly as if the tie rod damage could have caused uneven tire wear and then causing the vibration over time. I've attached some pictures, the 2 first are from the front passenger side, the 2 last from the front driver side. My tire are the Michelin pilot and this thread seems to suggest those tire might be hard to align properly: [URL] ....
I'm due for my winter tire change soon and see if thing gets better, I'll get them balanced too. I'll check at the same time for control arms/shock damage. But still, I would like some feedback and see if those tread wear are normal and hopefully get to the root of the problem (the outer edge on the tire in the back are much less damaged).
At low speeds, turning the steering wheel I hear a creaking sound similar to rubber on rubber. Sounds like skateboard trucks bushings how they creak. It's starting to get louder and is annoying. No damage to car just started one day and keeps going. Have to bring it to the dealer but the only good vw place around is an hour and a half away.
