Ok, my father has an LS460L with the Mark Levinson system.
When you press the load button, nothing happens. When you press and hold the button for a couple seconds, there is a beep, but the gate in the CD slot never drops down and the CD changer will not accept a CD.
Is there some other trick to this, or is his CD player broken?
I have had a 2007 for less than a month (mailed first payment today) and the disc changer died. I have played many audio book CDs in it during my 3 hour daily commute but today it decided that was all it would do.
Owners Manual said to take it to my Toyota dealer for this problem. I am reading posts which say it will take 4-6 weeks for a repair. Library will be upset about disks being gone that long.
Only time I like this car is at the gas pump. Any updated information on how to fix this problem without disassembling the entire dash?
Glad I kept my 98 Buick. It still works after 168,000 miles.
Inserted updated nav disc as directed in nav disc slot, closed door. Now the disc is stuck in the scan-disc mode and the load/eject button doesn't work on it. Wondering if there is a way to force eject the disc or other way to unstick it. You can hear the disc 'whirring' briefly as if it is trying to eject, but is stuck. It does this over and over. That's the only sound; none of the other buttons are responsive.
View 1 RepliesSo it finally happened -- I got CDs stuck in the JBL factory-installed four-disc changer on my 2010 Toyota Prius. (We predicted this would happen the first time we saw it.) What I didn't expect was that the dealership says it can't be repaired and that the CD player -- and the whole navigation system -- have to be replaced. Really? That's the kind of planned obsolescence that will make me never buy another Toyota again.
I took it to a car audio specialist who told me the same thing. But there again, their goal is sell me something, so I’m skeptical. I’m thinking about going the route of giving in to an extended warranty swindle and then cancelling it once I get the cd player replaced. But that feels like overkill, and it makes me as duplicitous as I suspect they are being. If it’s indeed true, that cds stuck in the cd player means you have to replace everything? That’s just not right…
Can I or could I make an 04 Radio with a 6 disc changer work in a 1999 F150. The radio in the truck now is having some issues and I don't want to put an after market in so I am just wondering if it could work.

Yes I have the air suspension and was thinking if the air suspension has something to do with it. I have about 92000 miles on it right now and no warranty. How much this would cost and is it safe to drive.

View 10 RepliesOK, Two days ago, at random, my lock stuck and would not open. I looked on this site and the best solution was to try to reset by disconnecting the battery. However, yesterday before I could get home and try it, the trunk starting opening and would not shut.
This morning I did the battery d/c. I notice the latch would pull the trunk down and then release several times. It appears about 5 times and then stopped in the open position. I put a screwdriver in the latch hook to see if that would stop the latch. It would not. I did the battery d/c about 5 times and no avail. I also checked the emergency pull inside the trunk and it is fine. I checked the latch release inside the car as well as in the glove box and they both appear to be in good working order.
So, I am led to believe I have either a wiring harness or a motor problem. I am leaning to the wiring harness because the pull down motor for the soft close is also not working.
Installing one on a LS460L? Can you buy just the bulb and pop it in or is it a big wiring job? I think they are a pretty good safety feature (the way the crazies drive in this City anyway) and I assume it would be an easy DIY install?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 LS460L. Bought it new and have loved it dearly for 6 years now. It now has 70k miles and is under an extended warranty purchased at 50k miles. As a first year model it has had a ton of TSBs done on it.
The problem i have had as long as i can remember is a lag or stutter during medium to hard acceleration. It feels a little like the old turbo lag or like a very mild stutter. It has had the transmission adjusted, had the service manager driver it for a week to try and capture on computer etc. But nothing has fixed it. At times it feels like if you watch the tachometer during these moments you can actually see a bounce (I may be imagining).
I have almost given up and just lived with it. We have tried tranny, type of oil, software tweaks etc.
I just purchased a 2009 LS460l and noticed a really deep vibration coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vibrations occur when I am at a complete stop and attempt to accelerate the vehicle turning to the left or right. Initially, I thought the tires were rubbing (18inch wheels), but after taking it to my local Lexus dealership they seemed confident the vibrations were occurring because my center differential needed to be flushed a refilled with 3 quarts of new fluid (they claimed the fluid was filthy) which is ~$150/quart. The car has brand new tires and all of which were just balanced/aligned.
View 4 RepliesSo I have a PCS fault on my 2008 LS460L and brought it to my local Lexus Dealership....They basically insist that the data controller is/may be causing the PCS fault.
In the meantime, I guess the most probable action is to disconnect the data controller and see if the problem goes away.....
I am having problems starting my car. It takes 5 or 6 tries . It will not turn over it will just click under the hood. I scanned the code and it showed the crankshaft sensor code. Would this be correct or could it be the starter or starter components. It is a 2008 LS 460
View 10 RepliesSometimes after opening fully, my trunk drops down again about halfway. I cannot think of any logical explanation for this. Moreover, it doesn't happen all the time. But the occurrences are pretty unpredictable. I took the car in to my service dept. and the trunk worked flawlessly. But later that same day, it malfunctioned. It makes a noise as it drops and comes down at a rather fast speed. In fact it's rather scary because if it didn't stop about half-way, it could be potentially harmful.
This happens even when there is no-one near the trunk.
I just recently traded in my '07 SWB for an '11 LWB (75k miles) and am loving the engine (sans hesitation) and ride etc. etc.
The only thing that's been really bugging me is that during cornering, the body seems to twist and "wind up", and as it does this, something(s) under the body moves and creaks/pops noisily. Then as I straighten the car out or turn the opposite direction, whatever had moved settles back out and I get more creaking/popping.
I thought it might be back door seals or door latch (based on that being a typical german car issue/solution) so I treated the seals and lubricated the latches, but the sounds didn't change at all. I would say, as a guess (tracking down noises can be super deceiving), the sounds seem to be coming from below the floor pan. I also wouldn't say the issue changes with outdoor temperature.
I just purchased a 2007 Ls460L. I am happy to be back in a Lexus Ls. I had a ls430 when I joined this forum many years ago. The rear window sunshade keep coming up on it own when I start the car.. It will always goes down when I push the button, but It wont go up after I put it down the first time though.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2008 LS460L and the front driver's and passenger's windows have wind noise, sometimes worse than others. I also drove a 2007 which experienced the same problem. It is still under warranty, but not sure if there is anything which can be done. Not sure how a car with doubled panned windows can have so much wind noise.
View 14 RepliesMy 2008 LS460L blows cold air on cold days/nights when the engine is idling. Raising the RPM to about 1500 causes heat to start to flow out of the air ducts. I also hear a gurgling sound behind the dash when accelerating normally from idle. The water pump was replaced by Lexus in late April 2014.
I have checked the coolant reservoir (engine cold) and found it to be slightly below the "LOW" coolant level mark (not empty). It would seem that since the feed from the coolant reservoir is on the bottom of the reservoir, as long as there is some coolant in the reservoir, the rest of the system should be full.
All things considered, are the two issues (no heat & gurgling sound) more likely to be caused by low coolant in the system, the relatively new water pump, or something else? BTW, what is the proper method to top off the coolant in a 2008 LS460L? Are there any special bleed ports for eliminating air pockets?
I have an ongoing issue with my 2007 LS460L. Sometimes when I start the car I get multiple warnings on the display and the car will not shift out of Park unless the override button is used. The window switches are disabled and the turn signals won't operate.
The car has had the issue since I purchased it used with 12,000 miles on it. But it has become a lot more frequent in the last couple of months. It seems to happen more often after being parked in the hot sun.
The dealer has been useless as far as finding the problem. It does not throw or store any codes. It only happens occasionally and never at the dealership. Usually I can restart the car after about 20 minutes or so and the problem has disappeared.
