Getting a groan from their hood struts when opening? Mine does it just after the secondary release and just moving it up from the bottom.
This is nothing major, I just don't want to hear this noise on a half million dollar car.
I have a 2007 ES350 with 85k miles. I've noticed that whenever the AC is turned on, there is an audible grinding/groaning type noise coming from the engine bay. If I turn the AC off, the noise immediately stops and returns as soon as I turn it back on.
I've also noticed that the noise only occurs when the car is in drive or reverse. If I switch to park or neutral, the noise immediately stops.
I had the serpentine belt as well as two idler pulleys replaced in hopes of solving the problem but the noise is still present. Any other troubleshooting I can perform to narrow down the problem?
So for the past several months i have noticed something going on. There is a little noise almost like a groaning
- When i am at a Stop light and idle but still in Drive.
- When i shift to N or P it stops and goes away.
Sometimes during this i will notice a little rattle or i feel a little vibration but not much and very hard to even notice if it hadn't been for how sensitive i am never would have even noticed this at all. What this could be ?
So this is a two-part question because that's the type of day that I'm having. 1st, I went out to start my car to find that it won't. The radio and lights come on, but it won't actually start, and makes a rapid, loud, clicking noise. I have a video of this however...
My boyfriend thought perhaps I need a jump start, so we were going to try that first but when we went to pull the latch inside the car to open the hood, we found that it doesn't work. So now we can't get the hood open.
So, I'd like to first know how I can get my hood open easily, and what may be going on with it not starting.
Have mechanical issues with my Lexus, I own an 07- es350. Everytime i put the Lexus in reverse/drive sounds like i have a huge bird under my hood chirping very loud. View 1 RepliesI have a 07 gs350. My car wouldn't start this morning let alone turn on. I heard this constant beeping noise coming from the hood and it was the battery. I unplugged the battery and the noise stopped. But once I plugged it back in the noise came back. I was in a rush to get to work this morning so I just unplugged it and let it sit for a few minutes before plugging it back in to see if it work.. it did not. This battery is only about 1 year old too.

View 2 RepliesIn January I purchased a 2007 Mazda 6 with a manual transmission. For the past several weeks I have noticed a low groaning like sound coming from the front end of the car. It only happens when I'm moving at a slow speed. It's most noticeable when just starting and stopping in either 1st or reverse. I thought it might be the breaks, but it happens even when the brakes are not applied. What this could be? I'd prefer to wait to have it checked when I bring it in for it's scheduled maintenance, but not sure if that would be a risky/expensive decision.

View 10 RepliesI have a 97 Grand Prix GTP with 191,000+ miles. For the past couple of months, I have had a loud groaning sound coming from somewhere under the hood when I steer the car in either direction. This groaning is most noticeable at idle or very low speeds and when the car is first started up in the morning. It seems to get less noticeable at higher speeds and after the car has warmed up a while. Over the past few days, at idle/low speed and when cold, there is now more resistance when steering in either direction. Power steering pump or rack and pinion? (Hoping this is more PS pump than rack and pinion). The rack and pinion was replaced in 2009.

View 6 RepliesSometimes after opening fully, my trunk drops down again about halfway. I cannot think of any logical explanation for this. Moreover, it doesn't happen all the time. But the occurrences are pretty unpredictable. I took the car in to my service dept. and the trunk worked flawlessly. But later that same day, it malfunctioned. It makes a noise as it drops and comes down at a rather fast speed. In fact it's rather scary because if it didn't stop about half-way, it could be potentially harmful.
This happens even when there is no-one near the trunk.
I have experienced a problem with the driver's side door locking and not opening. It just happened to me with my 2008 LS460 so I can't get in or out of the car from the driver's side.
View 2 RepliesMy friend with an 07 with about 109k miles on it now has started getting a "groaning" noise whenever the wheel is cut hard to the right or left, either sitting still or rolling. A local repair shop (not the dealer) checked it out and said there was some "stuff that needed to be lubricated". Not trusting this opinion he went to a Toyota dealer where he was getting new brake pads installed on all 4 corners (no Lexus dealer in the city where he lives), they diagnosed the car as needing 4 new struts and a new balljoint.
If in fact he does need the struts and balljoint, I am thinking chances are there will be a bunch more suspension stuff that should really be done at the same time when everything is apart anyway - perhaps bushings, endlinks, etc?
Is he better off sticking with the OEM strut replacements or should he go aftermarket? He's not looking to slam the car or anything, and is more of a ride comfort guy than handling enthusiast.
My driver and my driver side passenger (slightly) door squeaks when I open and close it. I know it has to do with the door checks. The black plastic thing that holds the door open 1/4 or 1/2 way. I don't want to try something that might not fix it like greasing it. I don't want a glob of grease on there and it still squeaks. Is there a way to adjust it?

What can it be..? I hope it has something to do with my tires since I'm getting new ones today. The current ones are pretty bald.

My battery went flat and to compound my misery, when I went to open the hood, the cable was snapped. How I can open the hood without using the release cable ? I'd rather not have to pay for it to be taken to the mechanic and then also pay to have the battery changed !
View 3 RepliesSecondly, I changed the oil in my car (ES350) and noticed the shocks had gone out in the hood. Darn thing just wouldn't stay up. Went to Lexus and it will be replaced. So I am trying to purchase the hood shocks at Sewellparts.com to change the bad hood shocks. I read somewhere on the web that if I register I could use a code or something to get a discount. I have registered but still don't have a discount code.
