My 2009 LS 600h:
I park the car, i turn it off, the steering wheel goes to park position. Then, when i open the door i hear a sound like a electric motor.
My GS 450h did exactly the same. Auto handbrake on or off makes no difference.
I have this weird electric motor noise that comes from the rear a few seconds after I shut my car off (I don't have the leveling air suspension). I also hear it in the engine compartment on occasion when the engine is shut off (I've heard it hours after the car is off). It lasts for a couple of seconds and it's gone. I do have the car set on auto ebrake. That's the only thing I can think of causing the noise...like the cable loses tension and the motor tightens it, but I don't really know.
View 14 RepliesI just bought a 2007 Camry XLE V6 with push button start. When I push the button:
1. the gauges light up
2. I hear a loud motor (gear) noise
3. noise stops and the engine starts up like normal. No unusual sounds.
4. I push the button to stop the car and the still no noise -- engine shuts off as expected.
5. NOW, when I open the door, I hear the same motor (gear) noise I heard in #2....the engine is off at this time..
I changed the actuator motor on the DS passenger door. Now the door does not open. The electronic lock moves, locks and unlocks but the door does not open from inside or outside.
After a few tries the lock tab chatters but the door still does not open. What could be wrong? As far as i know i put it back together, like i took it out.
How to take the panel off from inside then i can atleast get to the two wires that go to the lock and see if i can open the door to take the actuator out once again.
I'm having a problem trying to troubleshoot the warning buzzer circuit. Normally,the warning buzzer beeps twice when the trunk begins to open. It will also beep twice when you press the button to close the trunk. Yesterday I noticed that the warning no longer sounds when i open the trunk, but still beeps when i close the trunk. I examined he trunk closer, but couldn't find the buzzer or an activator for the beep generator. The service manual was worthless.
View 10 RepliesNow that I have the audio upgraded in my LS, we have uncovered a slight issue with the drivers rear door. The installers will work with me, but I thought there is so much knowledge up here, why not ask.
Everything else on the vehicle works perfect, its just this one door as if all the power is off or disconnected.(ACC or ON power it functions fine) I have checked the fuses under the driver side and the ones in the trunk, they are all fine and we took the front driver door apart to make sure any connections were good. everything seems secure, we even looked over the ECU in the door to make sure it didn't seem fried or anything, all functions on front and passenger doors are perfect.
Here are the symptoms: passenger rear door light wont come on with the door open unless the ACC is on. the other 3 turn on, with or without ACC.
The door lock actuator from the outside on this door wont lock the doors or with the sensing when you approach with the fob and grab the handle (as in the lights there wont light up).
The door closer that finishes off the door being slightly open wont grab and pull it in.
The trunk lights wont come on and there is no fuse or connection issue we can see. Its puzzling.
When I open the door, I can hear something like the car is pumping fluid, like the electric sound. Is that normal? I have a 2012 prius v.
View 4 RepliesAfter the car is parked for a while, when you open the driver side door or just touch the door handle an electric motor starts running. After several seconds it stops. Sounds as though it is running a pump and building pressure or vacuum. Just wondering exactly what it is?
View 19 RepliesWe've owned our 07 since purchased new in 06. It's always made this noise, but it used to be for a short period of time (1-2 min). Now it goes on and on for 5-10 min. It sounds like it's getting "stuck" and starting the cycle over.

View 5 RepliesSo recently I was driving through highway 17 with 4 people and we'll my 07 Prius was slowing down like never I eventually smelled a little burn but I ignored it I just though the engine was working a bit to hard. Recently I noticed that on the energy screen it only shows that the battery is getting charged it sometimes used the battery to the motor but not often. I did notice though that I run with electricity more when I'm in the city. It's quite weird it's like the electric motor doesn't work on the freeway.

Everytime I open the door to get out of my 08 LS460 the warning bell rings incessantly.
The only thing I can think of is that I'm usually in a parking garage and the lights are on due to the auto-feature on the lights. But, I think sometimes it rings even though the lights aren't on.
Sometimes you open the door but don't jump right out of the car. Is there anyway to disable this ringing bell?
I recently had a remote starter (AutoMate) installed in my 2008 LS460. The remote starter works great but when I open the car door the engine shuts off. I then need to restart by pressing the START button on the dashboard. Is this a safety issue or is this something that can be avoided?

View 12 RepliesMy ES350 trunk and fuel door will not open. The problem started out with me addressing the "Check SONAR" issue where all of my rear SONAR sensors weren't working. This issue with the SONAR working intermittently has been an issue now for about 8 months. Anyway so I had read somewhere to check under the front right passenger footwell and I did. With the car in ON mode (engine not running) I tried to disconnect each of the harnesses from the plugs one at a time so that I could isolate the harness that controlled the sonar.
Anyway I plugged everything back in and now the trunk won't release either from the Keyfob, or from the interior. The fuel door also won't release either and I've already tried the Valet button to no effect. I'm wondering if the computer that handles the trunk or whatnot got deactivated from the other computers and is no longer talking to it or something to that effect. I'm hoping I just blew a fuse but otherwise I just don't know how to proceed from here. It sucks this car has no way to open the trunk with a key, I think that was a huge oversight. I also cannot open the trunk by opening the pass through because the internal trunk release cable was broken by my dad several years ago and was never repaired.
My 2007 ES 350 will chime if the car is on and the door is opened. It will also warn you if the car is on and the electronic key becomes out of range.
One day both of these features stopped working. Everything else seems to be working just fine.
Was on my way to get an oil change at my buddies shop. Started hearing a clicking sound. My climate controls no longer will respond. the Auto button is lit up but I can't turn the air off. I get hot air from the vents. When the clicking does stop the system goes back to working order. My friend checked it out and says the clicking is from the blend door motor.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2014 Lexus ES300h. I just started noticing that after 2 to 4 hours after turning the car was turned off, I am finding what sounds like the electric motor running. There is a buzzing sound. I can turn the car back on for a few mins and then back off, the electric buzzing sound goes away.
Since owning the car, I've never found the car buzzing. It sounds like the electric motor is charging the batteries. Do I need to have this checked? I have 28k miles on my car and have never had an issue.
I have a 2013 ES 350. Last night about 5 hours after the engine had been turned off, we noticed a strange noise coming from under the rear of the car? It sounded like a small electric motor was running. I started the car and turned it off. The noise had quit. This is actually the second time this happened.
I got under the car to try and determine the exact location of the noise, It sounded to be coming from the gas tank area. Could it be a fuel pump kicking on?
Brand new 2012 LS460 with one Dealer oil change:
This one started with stronger smell on passenger side but is now strong hot antifreeze smell when you open either front door. Not a drop on floor, no gauge movement from normal on hot 2-3hr trips - Only had one service six months ago at dealer just because it was to sit all year. I pulled all top engine covers off to inspect and found not one thing wet or suspect.
Ready to put on rack to look underneath (below firewall I suppose) just not sure at what, heater core connections? But a head gasket would be 1st guess? What could this be?
SAME as previous post (but no ID) from a 2008L owner: "I only have about 3,500 miles on my car, every now and then I get a faint smell of possibly antifreeze when I open either of the front doors after a good drive. It's very strange because if I try to locate the source, the smell goes away. Once I exit the car and sniff around, there is no smell in the wheel wells, in the front grill, or under the hood. I then try to sniff under the car just under the front doors, and there is no smell!"
