How to remove the rear seat on the LS460? I need to take it out to have access to the strut tower..need to make sure it's not ripped out/loose bolts or whats not ..still trying to locate the source of that clunk when braking..still...

View 1 RepliesThis problem is recent and only happens when it rains. When braking to a stop, I get a thunk or two. I only having hearing in one ear, so where the sound might be coming from. I ruled out loose things knocking around. The last time I was driving in the ran, I got the thunking only the first one or two times I braked, and then nothing. Other times I have gotten it repeatedly in a single drive. I have never gotten it while braking except when coming to a stop. I don't get it when merely slowing down in traffic or the freeway. I back into my driveway and I am wondering if braking in reverse has any bearing on this problem.
I searched here and on the internet. The problem exists out there as I have described it, but no posts that I can find have identified the problem. The truck has disc fronts and drum rears. I took the front tire off on the drivers side when I re-seated the front wheel bearings. I was going to repack them, but didn't feel like pulling the caliper, so I just re-seated them. I repacked them not that long ago and didn't feel it was worth the trouble at the time. I didn't bother to pull the tire on the passengers side. While I was at it, I greased all the ball joints.
I can't recall exactly when I first started hearing the clunking, if it was before or after the whole U-joint/carrier bearing campaign, but I became acutely aware of it afterwards, perhaps because that's when we got a lot of rain. There is absolutely no driveability issues at all, just the clunk when braking to a stop in the rain.
Now that the cold weather is here, I am finding more and more issues. Besides a clunk in the rear that I have to have looked at, I have the dreaded dash popping. I have read to use felt and jam it between the window.
Also it seems like the headliner is popping too? Haven't heard of that. I plan on bringing it to the dealer after the holidays for the rear clunk, but will they fix any of this under platinum warranty?
AFS Flashing and there is a clunk in the right rear on turns and it bottoms out over speed bumps . According to service manual and internet search, this combo may be a problem with the rear height control sensor sub assembly or rear No. 2 suspension arm or other suspension issue. AFS flashes because the car height changes affecting the headlight adjustment leading to AFS flash.
Dealer says "Yes sensor is mounted to the control arm and if it's broken in half, it would clunk and cause afs light to flash."
I was driving home today and randomly thought to open the vents in the b pillars and noticed that neither rear vents were flowing any air. I opened and close them and I tried every mode on the AC, and even tried turning the rear vents from the arm rest to the back seat off. Any clue as to what the deal is?? I just cant imagine what the issue is. I have never used the vents in three years of ownership but would like to think that I have the option.

View 5 RepliesHow to take out the back seat of the Passat? I'm needing to run a Pioneer IP bus cable to the trunk and it would be easier with the bottom of the rear seat out. I looked in the archives and found a thread saying you just pull up on the bottom. I have pulled up on the bottom of the seat so hard that I'm worried that I will break it. I still can't get it out. Is there something I'm missing?
View 6 RepliesOur 2005 Ford Taurus makes a rhythmic clunk from the rear when you slow down. The rhythm seems to slow as you brake. The noise isn't there when you are cruising or accelerating, only when you slow down. We recently drove 2000 miles with a small trailer attached. Could that have anything to do with it?
View 1 RepliesI've spent several hours over the course of the last week trying to figure out the problem I am having with my 1999 F150. When coming to a stop, there is a heard and felt "clunk" coming from the rear end of my truck. The other day, I had to brake to a stop rapidly and it felt like something had dropped out of the back end of my truck. It's 4WD with a 5.4L V8 with 240k miles. I have a fair amount of knowledge of the truck, having performed all maintenance and most repair, so if I need to check something and report back I should be able to. Also, I've owned the truck since it was new, and this is a recent development.
View 10 RepliesMy uncle has an 05 F150 extended cab. When he bought it he put his license plate in the rear window until he could get some bolts for it. When it was there it fell between the back of the rear seat and the back of the cab. Currently he has one plate on the rear, but is worried he will get stopped for not having a front plate installed. So he knew I am an FTE member and I could find out how to remove the seat back. I have not tried to remove it nor seen if I could reach it.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2008 LS360L with 4-zone climate control. For whatever reason, the rear seat controls and display do not work for climate control. The controls still work for radio, rear seat adjustment and window shades, but climate functions are unoperable.
Additionally, the 4-zone buttons on the nav touchscreen are now missing in the climate menu. There used to be left / right passenger settings and then a button to switch to rear seat settings. These options have all disappeared from the menu.
I can press the 4-zone physical button on dash and manually change temperature settings for driver or passenger by pressing physical driver / passenger temperature up / down buttons.
The only thing I can attribute to this is I had the dealer do a map upgrade to the nav system. All other features / functions work, but the timing is somewhat suspect... They really do not believe this upgrade caused the problem.
Are there hidden menus I may have hit to deactivate this feature?
I would like information how to remove the rear seat back on a 2012 F250. I want to remove the head rests and from what I can find out they are bolted solid to the rear panel. I asked the same question earlier and got a reply for 2011, would that be the same? Is there any place I could get a schematic, a picture is worth a thousand words.
View 5 RepliesMy 2007 GX470 is making a clunk/thud noise when braking (more often when braking hard or on a downhill slope) and then again when I let off the brakes and start to accelerate. It is significant enough that I can feel the car jerk some when it happens, almost as if someone has tapped the back with their car. What it could be?

Its totally unpredictable but only happens when braking or accelerating under 10mph.
No noise when going over bumps or turning and its only heard when the windows are down. What it could be?

The reason I ask is because (now that I am not upgrading to an RCF) we are going to attempt an LFA style exhaust on my current RC F-Sport. We will be starting off using an RCF rear bumper due to there being more room in the area where the stock diffuser usually is.
View 7 RepliesI need to change the rear brake pads on a 2007 Expedition and was going to turn the rotors also. It appears the rotor is held onto the axle by a large nut and not having done any brake jobs in several years, I've never run into a rear rotor that's bolted on. Is this the case and if so, what size socket do I need to get it off. Also, I was curious if there is anything else I need to know before I dive in. I heard it was difficult to get off.
