Just had control arms all replaced under warranty and it's still making chattering noises in the front suspension on broken rippled surfaces same as before ?? Front shocks were also replaced 6 months ago ...
View 14 RepliesI bout a 2010 AWD LS460 in July and immediately noticed noises coming from the rear and front. The rear was a loud thud going over certain bumps and the front is making rattling noises. I lowered the windows and went down a rather bumpy block and the car sound like the bottom is falling out. I took it to the dealer and they had it for 2 and 1/2 weeks waiting on the rear air shocks to come in. They gave it back to me and did not address the front. Now the service manager is going away for two weeks and wants me to come back if I still feel the need to have the from done. The master tech stated the front left suspension needs replacing. I feel they are trying to drag this out so they dont have to pay for the repairs. The car has 80K and was bought from Bay Ridge Lexus and is not under CPO.
View 13 RepliesMy 07 460 is now on its 3rd set of front shocks ( air suspension) . I drive always in comfort mode and they get very rattly and make chattering noises as soon as they get to 10k mark ... The dealer keeps replacing them as it's still in warranty but it seems crazy ... Does this still happen with the 2013 onwards upgrade model too ??

I looked at my suspension. and found rubber bushing is broken. Driver's side bushing is normal.
Is this noise related to the broken bushing?
Is it easy to replace the rubber by myself?
A guy said ATP AT-205 reseal will fix this noise in Youtube video. Is it true?

When I go over bumps or rough surfaces I hear a rattle in the rear suspension. It sounds similar to the noise bad ball joints make. I recently had the car aligned and the shop said they couldn't find anything wrong. I'm going to take a look myself but was wondering if this might be a common problem. If maybe there are certain bushing that are known to wear out.
View 2 RepliesI have owned my 2011 CPO rx for a bit over two months now. It has 19 inch rims and Michelin tires. I find the suspension to be much harder than I would have expected on rough surfaces. For example, when I drive over even medium expansion joints the suspension is somewhat jarring. The fact that the suspension doesn't absorb more of the road surprises me. My wife drives a 2011 MDX and that is much better over similar roads. I always thought that Lexus had more of a reputation for a plusher ride. Could it be the shocks already? The car only has 33,000 miles.
View 11 RepliesI'm getting "popping" noises when braking from my front, drivers side suspension. Past knowledge tells me it's probably an upper control arm / Tie Rod/Swaybar link problem. Everything is nice and tight in there.
Also getting a violent "thumping" noise/feeling constantly when driving from the same side.
I just dropped it off at the dealer, and they are probably going to come back saying the upper control arm needs to be replaced (we will see).
Attached is a video of my car going over speed bumps. It sounds like a rusty bed spring :/ I dont know what to do. The dealership told me that everything is fine, but i dont believe that.
On another side note, i am also experiencing misfires a lot, and the car feels a little under powered. I dont know what part to replace but i was hoping to get some info on what to do, and yes i took it to the dealer, nothing showed up on the vag and like the previous issue they said the car is fine!! My ideal situation is to have someone drive it and confirm that there's an issue, and then obviously to fix the issue.
I own a 2009 Santa Fe Limited AWD with 56,000 miles on it. I purchased it new in July of 2009. I have started to hear a severe clunk in the front end when driving over rough surfaces/potholes. Not when turning the steering wheel. I have read about issues with front stabilizer link bushing. The Santa Fe is at the dealers and they said it is the front control arm bushings. $1000 to repair!
View 41 RepliesThis afternoon I was out for a drive and on my way home on the highway I had something give on the front passenger side suspension.
There was an "odd" feeling from the steering and then some noises from the passenger side front of the car. As I was slowing down there was more clunking/shuddering as I came to a stop. After stopping I looked at the wheel and noticed it looked "further" out, and had more give when pushing it than it should have.
I then tried to pull the car further off the road and discovered that it would not go into gear to move at all!

You can see above how the strap pulled on the tire, I tried loosening the strap on it up but it was still under tension.
Feels like the front suspension is blown in the front of my car and i got an alignment not too long ago and the sides are feathering already. spoke to couple of my friends and we have confirmed that the front is blown and also when i drive i see the front bouncing when i go over bumps. I just want to ask the people who did remove their stock suspension and see what brand they are.
View 8 RepliesMy LS460 recently developed a rattle from the front drivers side. It's triggered more by rumbles/vibrations from an uneven surface rather than speed bumps or large pot holes.
It sounds a bit like a washer vibrating on a metal tray (for what that's worth)!
Interestingly though it gets a LOT worse when the car is in 'Comfort' suspension mode, and is nowhere near as bad in 'Sports' mode. So it seems that having the suspension higher gives this thing more room to rattle.
I noticed in the service history that the front passenger air strut was replaced 30k ago, so I'm worrying that there is a large bill on the horizon.
I have a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 SE, and I have a strange noise emanating from the front suspension. It's essentially a creaking sound whenever going over speedbumps etc, that lasts only when crossing the bump in question. There is also a distinct ratcheting/popping sound when I more with the wheel at full lock. I've already replaced the front sway bar bushing, recently replaced the struts and springs, lower control arms, and have not noticed any shaking in the tie rods when I try to move them.

I am recently experiencing some weird squeaking/creaking noises coming from my front suspension.. It manifests whenever I am going over humps faster than usual (or if the humps is not "perfectly sloped"). I seldom experience this during daytime but during nighttime, it is very evident.
this is the list of things that I replaced already:
2x ball joints
2x stabilizer links
2x shock absorbers
2x tie rod
2x rack ends
Did some wheel balancing and wheel alignment already...
I was able to replicate this by parking the car in a slope - parallel to the street with the wheels turned to right or left, and pushing the top fender downwards.
Driving along our streets, highway, and highway curved ramps is flawless.. Could this be bushings on stabilizer bars? or the control arms?
I have a 2009 460 awd with adjustable suspension and when making a right turn the front left side makes a noise. I have had the dealer look at it 5 times or more but each time I am told that there are no problems. Now that the weather is getting colder it is becoming more pronounced.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2003 Honda Element with 124,000 miles and it runs like a gem. I purchased it at 99,000! It has slowly developed a dull thunking sound in the left rear (seems to be left rear). I hear this sound when traveling at lower speeds on bumpy surfaces. I don't hear the sound at highway speeds nor do I hear it when my brother (who is a mechanic) stand on the back bumper and jumps up and down really hard after removing everything from the inside of the car. We have had it up on the lift to look at everything underneath and there is nothing thunky when wiggled.
View 6 RepliesI have coilovers on my R32 with adjustable control arms and have been noticing a "thud" type of noise when going over uneven surfaces which appears to be coming from the rear.
I actually periodically noticed this noise when I first got the PSS's put on my car when going over larger bumps/dips in the road but lately it is becoming much more pronounced - occurring over uneven surfaces like parking ramps or driving over crappy roads. Over smooth surfaces, no problem.
Thought it was my rear sway bar bushings since they were making a really bad creaking noise, got those replaced and still noticing this damn noise.
My rear bushings on my 1997, A4 Audi, make a crunching thumping sounds when the body torques over irregular surfaces. My Audi mechanic says that it is the bushings. Replacing the A frames and bushings will cost more than half the car's worth. I belief that dust got into the bushings when I went on dirt roads in Death Valley or they are just worn. When I blast the bushings with water the noise disappears or dampens for a while. Car has 186,000 miles.To keep the noise down, can I add graphite or some other material to the bushings?
View 4 RepliesLast weekend my son had terrible noises and vibration while driving. He went to a tire shop where they discovered that the lug nuts were loose on the left front wheel. So, the car had been worked on a week before, when a shop did brake work on the back among other things. They say they didn't remove the front wheels, as the front brakes could be examined through the alloy wheels. It was the ES300. Factory alloy wheels.
So, this seems to leave four possibilities:
1. The shop is not being truthful.
2. The nuts worked loose over a 9 month period from the tire rotation done last spring, when they maybe were left a little loose.
3. Vandalism--it is parked on the street.
4. Witchcraft
Any bets? I am particularly interested in the reasonableness of 1 versus 2....
I drive 2007 ES350, lately I am getting clunking noises from rear, inside or underneath the trunk, when going over bumpy roads. I have removed everything from the inside of the trunk except for spare tire and tools in foam, etc.
View 7 RepliesWell it was a good run but after 6 years and 43,000 miles the window tab broke on the passenger window and now the window is off track on my 2007 ES 350. From everything I have read it's going to be a fairly expensive repair as the window will need to be replaced also.
I know there is a TSIB on this but, the car needs to be 48 months or 50,000 miles for it to be covered. I didn't know if I reached out to Lexus for some relief on this if they would at least cover some of the cost.
