View 14 RepliesMy wife just purchased a 2011 ES 350 w/20k miles from a off lease dealership on Monday. On Tuesday the check engine light came on. She quickly called the dealer. He told her that the check engine light coming on is very common. She has an appointment Tuesday morning to check it out. Would like to know if any other 2011 ES 350 owners have had the check engine light frequently come on.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2004 5.4 and the A/C cycles on and off too frequently making it take too long to cool the cab. Had A/C service done this weekend and initially I thought it worked, but now a few days later, it still cycles on and off. Is this a simple relay or switch somewhere?
View 1 RepliesMy 05 was running rough and misfiring quite frequently. After much deliberation, I took it in for a diagnostic hookup. The dealer said my driver side cat was clogged. Lucky for me, I was just under the warranty period(79673 miles). I have had it replaced and I can feel a noticeable difference in the way it runs. Could a clogged cat have made it run that poorly or am is it just in my head that it is running alot better?
View 7 RepliesMy truck has been sitting more lately, which means up to a week without starting and running. Each time this happens I run into a dead battery. And I mean dead. I've charged it full and then used the truck no problem.
We did a test where we unhooked the negative terminal wiring clamp and ran a meter to check for amp draw. We did this by touching the meter leads to the negative post clamp (unhooked) and to the negative post on the battery. It gives a reading of ~1.5 amps. Trying to figure out where the drain might be.
We'll jut pull each fuse to see if we find the electrical area drawing the amps.

My mom owns a lexis ls 400 and is having problems with it sputtering. I have been trying the Internet with no good results. She has had it "fixed " two times, which did nothing. New spark plugs and a tune up, a new fuel pump and nothings working except spending lots of $$$.
View 8 RepliesOnly have driven 2900 miles and engine frequently misses when it slows from 40 mph down to 35 mph. After a test drive dealer told me that car is handling normally. Can't be true. I consistently get a "lagging" feeling whenever I slow down from 40 plus mph to 35. My foot remains on the accelerator with just a slight decrease in foot pressure. I'm returning to dealer next week and I don't know what I will do if they tell me the vehicle is acting normal.
View 10 Replies2003 with about 140k miles, radiator was replaced a couple years back, recently replaced timing belt (#2) and some valve cover gaskets in advance of a road trip.
On the road trip, used no cooling air, occasionally used heat at night with the roof down. At one point, I thought I heard my engine louder than normal, but decided it was actually machinery nearby.
The next morning, after only about 1 hour of leisurely driving through a civil war park for about an hour, I confirmed that in fact it was my vehicle making the noise.
It was fairly frequent, and basically sounds and feels (hand on air filter) like the blower kicking on, as if to cool the car off.
But the air temp was cool, the car temp was solid and cool, so there wasn't a good reason for this to be happening.
Because I had just had the timing belt & such done, I stopped at a dealer. The engine light came on as I pulled in.
They indicated that they saw a MAF sensor failure, and that while it needed to be replaced, it wasn't a problem to finish my road trip. They indicated the check engine light was related and also ok to drive with. They then lost a lot of credibility when they tried to ask me if perhaps the AM radio was the noise I was hearing...
Despite that, I continued on (had to be somewhere and they said it was ok to drive). The engine light actually went off the next time I filled up, so I decided perhaps that was actually a gas cap pressure issue (saw that once before in my ~6 years of driving the car).
Back at my home Toyota shop, they confirmed the MAF replacement need, and have also suggested spark plugs (fair enough).
But re: the air, they don't believe it sounds 'wrong'. I agree with that- it sounds 'right', as in when the blower kicks on, and I vaguely recall that it was something I heard back when my radiator actually rusted out / failed.
My issue is that it seems to be happening MUCH more frequently than normal.
So while I don't recall hearing it at all over the past couple years or only on very rare occasions under load, or when the radiator failed, it seems to be almost routine now, where at a given stop light (even in just a few miles of driving in town at low speeds), I'll hear the extra noise.
In the 2008 ES350 owner manual, there is a picture of an AFS OFF switch (to turn off the Adaptive Front Lighting system) which is located at the knee dash area above your right knee (on the right side of the steering column). However, the switch is not there when I look for it in my car which has the AFS w/ HID lamp option.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2008 ES 350 that just sounds really bad. Are there other things that can go wrong, a blown fuse somewhere or something? I haven't noticed bad woofer, but will look closer next time I get the car in my hands (it's my wifes)
The problem I'm having is even if the woofer was blown, it would seem the other speakers would sound a little better than they do.
I have a new-to-me 2008 LS600hl I recently purchased with just over 60k miles. When I test drove the car I noticed some vibration that the dealer and I presumed to be tires or even warped rotors, however after a balance and resurface (they paid for) the problem persisted. I then set out to isolate it further my getting up to 60mph and letting the car coast down to 35 several times. There is a very pronounced shudder in the driveline- almost like a washboard road effect, most noticeably as it drops through the 40's mph. I can completely eliminate this if I drop the drivetrain in neutral- therefor it has to be in regeneration or the transmission.
That said, the dealer had a Lexus engineer look at it. His assessment was uncertain, as there are no other LS600's around to compare it too. They would like the problem to be more pronounced so that they can be sure where the problem is coming from and asked me to drive it an additional 5000 miles.
The mechanic and service tech agree with me there is a problem, but are now somewhat bound by their engineer telling them to wait 5000 miles. I'd really like to have something else to support my claim. The car has a week of warranty left on the drivetrain when I purchased it- so the problem is documented.
I typically carry my keys in my laptop bag, and on my 09 LS460 when I use to open up the back door by grabbing onto the handle all the doors would unlock. Now on my 08 LS460L when I open up the back door it doesn't open all the doors. Is this some type of setting I can change? Or is this something they changed from 08 to 09?
View 11 RepliesI notice a problem with my ES350 2008 today and would like to have your inputs before sending to the garage.
When the climate control is ON, the passenger vent and the central right side vent is blowing hot air, but the left side of the central dash vent and vent on the driver side is blowing cold air.
I increase the temperature on the driver side to the max and then and only then hot air is coming out, very weak. On the passenger side, the temperature is very precise, no sign of weakness.
The car has 150k miles.
My friend has 2008 ES350. His car has problem in Air Conditioning System. Only sometimes not always it pushes normal air, not cooled enough as it should be. He took it to an AC service shop they checked the AC gas it is normal no leaking. They told him there is a faulty sensor connected to the compressor.
View 8 RepliesCar does not detect the keys even after changing the batteries of the keys. what could be wrong?
View 2 RepliesI have an 08 LS460 with 50k miles on it. Most of it city miles. I'm an average driver and not too hard on my brakes. How long should they last?
View 10 RepliesMy 08 LS 460 use to have the a/c come on automatically every time. But now, I have to set it manually after each stop or engine turn off. Is it a fuse, sensor or ??
View 2 RepliesI just installed my lowering module. 2008 LWB
I played with the buttons and followed the info I found by city. But I could follow them I guess. Some of the information mentioned I couldn't see on my module. My module isn't new so maybe I need to do a full reset.
How do you hook up the speed option and what is it for?
The car developed a vibration at freeway speed (65-80+) and the dealer kept saying it was tire balance, alignment, etc. After replacing tires, having them road force balance the tires and do an alignment, car still had the vibration. Contacted Lexus and the service manager drove with me and immediately felt the vibration. they double checked the balance, alignment, etc. and decided it was shocks. Car has 70,000 miles. Lexus agreed to pay for 2 of the struts. Picked up the car and it is like new. Smooth as silk. the old shocks did not have signs of being worn out, leaking or being bad. I was a bit hesitant but the Service Manager said if it didn't fix the problem, they would put the old ones back on and I wouldn't pay for anything.
I have my car serviced only at the dealer and they have stood behind the car. Lexus also. I had the control arm problem and Lexus stepped up and paid for that repair.
I only have about 3,500 miles on my car, every now and then I get a faint smell of possibly antifreeze when I open either of the front doors after a good drive. It's very strange because if I try to locate the source, the smell goes away. Once I exit the car and sniff around, there is no smell in the wheel wells, in the front grill, or under the hood. I then try to sniff under the car just under the front doors, and there is no smell! It is driving me crazy because it does not make any sense. My antifreeze level did not drop, and there is no evidence of any leaks. I didn't put it on my lift yet to examine it carefully, but I'll do that on the next oil change. I was wondering if there are possibly some hoses that go to the rear of the car for the rear a/c and heat. If so, maybe there is a slight leak on one of the clamps?
View 14 RepliesMy navigation has been all over the place lately. Sometimes it's 50 miles off, 15 miles off, and 5 miles off. Worst of all, the problem is intermittent. It seems to happen a few times a week. Is there a way to do a system reboot?
