2008 ls 460 won't start when I press brake and start engine button. Car battery is strong. Tried two different keys. Start engine button has green light and when push all dash lights come but engine does nothing. Tried holding Lexus emblem on key next to button and pressing unlock button on key several times. Nothing?
View 4 RepliesCar battery was dead, got a new battery from Walmart and replaced.
After that, from time to time, the engine would not start when pushing the start button, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries to get the engine to start. This has never happened before.
What is the reason for it, could it be that the walmart battery is not as powerful as the previous LEXUS battery? or something else?
By the way the car is due for an engine oil change with the warning light on. I use Mobile 1 fully synthetic 0w20 and the light went on every 5000 miles.
I have a 2007 Toyota Prius. When I press the brake pedal and press the start button the engine does not start or the wheels are not powered by the battery. It gives me the following errors:
The indicator in the Start button lights in Amber Color.
0 kmph mark is not activated in the dash board pannel.
When I shift the gears it only shifts to neutral ("N") gear.
I cant move the car forward or backward. An error message is displayed in the MFD in Japanese language. It is in Japanese and I cant read the error message.
I woke up to a surprise this morning , the car earlier had this kinda issue where i would press the start button and it would not start and only make "Click" sound .. and after few attempts it would usually start and then this issue went away for few months for unknown reasons
Today it returned back i didn't move the car for 2 days over the weekend down here. I tried to start the car all it would do is Click sound but this time a very faint sound not like earlier where it was much louder .
I am assuming its the starter ? Where is it located ? What i read online and see could be just a bad starter selonoid .
Yesterday after coming to a stop and pressing the start/stop button, the vehicle wouldn't turn off. Eventually I got it to turn off (by pressing the button).
After I got it to turn off, I pressed the start button and it does not turn on. I get a message saying "Check VSC" . 1 click from under the hood and that's it. All power is there. Radio/AC/etc all work. Not brand new, but the battery is fully charged.
Trying to diagnose and fix the issue myself before calling for a flatbed to come and pick it up.
I dont think its the starter since I've had issues turning it off. What it might be? Its an '07 with 65k miles.
Need to change a starter of an ls460? My car died on me yesterday and i strongly feel its the starter. When i push the start button i get a loud click noise.. after playing with it for 20 min it actually started. Battery is good, no codes..

This is what happened... After not driving the car for 3 cold days, the battery seemed dead...so i jump started the car with another car...and the car started, but started showing a bunch of warning lights... It says, check vsc, brake malfunction, check brakes, check abs...
So i ignored all the warning lights and decided to drive the car on the highway for 30 minutes to fully recharge the battery... After driving for 30 minutes with all the warning lights on, i parked the car and turned it off. Then i tried to restart it again after 5 minutes...and it won't start...
Could it be that it didnt charge the battery because of all the warning lights were on? Is the battery bad? I jumped started car again...but it didn't reset, still got all warning lights... Now turned the car off...and it's dead again...
I have a 2010 Prius Hybrid and lately, on an intermittent basis, I will press the brake pedal and push the start button and the dashboard lights up as normal but when I go to put it in gear nothing happens. The last time it happened the fan was running and I couldn't turn it off. It's like the car is all set to go but all the interior controls don't function. I then shut it off and restart it and everything works.

View 14 RepliesI went to go pump gas and this happened. Had to tow it back home. Battery is a few months old. I also tried putting a fully charged jump box to it with no results.
Gonna hook a scanner to it later to see if there is any code. (Shouldn't be any if it's the starter...correct???)
I hooked up a scanner to the car and found:
P0335 ( Crankshaft position sensor)
P0340 P0345 P0365 P0390 Camshaft position sensor
I guess its safe to eliminate the starter. Do all the sensors need replacing or do you think one particular sensor is causing all the other sensors to go off as well.
I drove the car yesterday night for about 30 mins and parked it at home and after one hour went back to start the car but it wont start. All the lights working fine it gave me an error saying check VSC system and whenever i start the car it gives me sound zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and ends with a fan sound but wont start ...

What are thoughts on changing every 7,500 if no pulling or hills? I am using synthetic Royal Purple. Is it worth the cost?

View 14 RepliesAbout 2 months ago, I had the battery replaced in the key fob just because it was over 2 years old. Today my first messages I get is "key not found". Key is in my hand. Then the next message is press start button with key fob. Finally got the car started. Is this a sign of bad battery in fob or something else?

So I went to my garage, and wanted to go warm up the car. Didn't realize it was in gear (since i don't sit in the car but just reach for the clutch and press the start button). Apparently it was in gear and it jerked forward.
Now my DRL's don't turn on when the headlights are off. When the headlights are on the DRL's turn on but is dimmed which is normal.
Sometimes (not all the time) when I get into my car with my key fob in my pocket, the car decides to let out a 2-3 second beep when I press the start button. (similar to the beep that occurs when I walk away from the car while its running and the fob is in my pocket) I have tried looking in the user manual, but I haven't found anything to explain why this is happening. Needless to say, its kind of annoying.
2013 Sonata 2.0T Limited
2011 Sonata, 42,000 miles. Every now and then the car wont start. Press the start button, everything lights up. Instead of the car then starting I hear a small clunk and then no start. I DO NOT get the "Press the Brake pedal" message. The last time this happened we tried repeatedly to start with no luck. The car then sat for a day. I tried it again with no luck. I them removed the battery clamps and cleaned the battery terminals, reinstalled, put a Start/charger on and tried it again, with the same result. I then opened the engine compartment fuse box and attempted to remove the two "start" relays. They would not come out, but I was able to jiggle them slightly. The next attempt the car started normally. Started normally again this morning.
View 6 Repliesabout 18 months ago my 2008 LS 460 wouldn't start after numerous attempts and displayed an error saying "Check VSC...". While waiting for the tow truck, I hit the start again randomly and bam! car started up.
The next morning, the car started up great again so I drove it to the dealership and told them about everything that happen. They said it was probably a bad battery. They changed out the battery (it was 26 months old) and said everything would be fine. A couple weeks later the car would jump and lurch during slow speed accelerations so brought back in. Nothing could be replicated so took car home. Car kept acting up and went to another dealership. After having the car for 3 days the mechanic replicated the issue and said a chip needed to be reset. After that....LS was back to great self.
Then today, car won't start and get "Check VSC..." error message. It's Sunday afternoon, so just called auto parts store and get new battery. Put new battery in and "Check VSC...." error message gone, BUT car still won't start.
When push button, hear one click and then nothing. All the lights come on, AC can blow, stereo can play, but car just sits there. Checked the battery cables for corrosion and while there was a little on the old battery the cables look good.
Is there any type of reset I can do that needs to happen after changing the battery or anything like a Windows reboot that can happen? I get the sense this is all computer issues and not actually anything mechanical. My LS only has 87k miles and has followed all the maintenance recommended so I'd really like to break 15 years or 200k miles .
Any way to disable the initial start up screen on a 2013+ that tells you "Drive safely and obey traffic rules....." then has a "continue" button to select?

Is there a quick way to go from engine on to just electricity on?
Or is it 2 step process, press start button to turn engine off, then press start button again to go to electricity only on?
