I want to lower the car with RSR DOWN SPRINGS but I have some people telling me that I will destroy my shocks in time and other people saying its fine.

View 24 RepliesSo I installed the DG springs today, and it should've been a simple install. Well once all was said and done I took it for a test drive. Every time I go over a bump I hear a loud clunking noise, like somethings loose. What it could be? I'm pretty sure I tightened everything.
View 10 RepliesFew weeks ago, I got the Tein spring installed on my camry. Drop 1.5/1.6 front/rear.
Problem is now I sometimes hear this clunking sound from the rear. It doesn't happen very frequently, just every once in a while when i drive through a small&sudden bump.
Only from the rear, nothing from front of the car.
Another thing is that when i reverse & turn (ex. getting out of garage), it makes one or two cracking noise from the front, small clunking sound from the rear.
I'm suspecting the strut may be bad. The mechanic guy said that my rear struts are bad (when he was installing the springs).
Am I in need to get new struts ?
I have a 2012 corolla le and I'm looking into getting TRD lowering springs as I don't want to go too low and they work with the stock strut, however; I read that they work best with the XRS' shock and strut (might be just the strut but I'm not sure), my question is what are the XRS' struts called and where would I find them, also from what year would the XRS' struts fit on my le?

View 2 RepliesAfter having lowering springs installed, I've been noticing a clunk noise in the rear suspension when driving over dips in the road (eg. getting out of the parking lot onto the main road). It feels like having your wheels lifted in mid-air and being dropped onto the road.
View 14 RepliesProblems getting an alignment AFTER lowering. seems no one in my area has the old fashioned machine where it clamps on the wheel edge,they have the ones that clamp on the outside of the tire,which limits the rotation of the wheel if the body is too close. I am on rsr downs with Vossens,which wont work at all, so hoping the stock wheels will.
View 6 RepliesI found out the rear driver's side shock was leaking oil after I jacked up the car to take a look at exhaust options for the car. 3 of the 4 shock are clean and show no signs of oil.
Is this a defective shock or a pothole destroyed it?
i dont have to much money right now to buy a new starter but possibly in a week or so. Will this damage anything on my car???
View 7 RepliesI have a 2000 X 7.3 diesel with under 100,000 miles. I drive it about 10,000 miles a year, all towing. However it does get used everyday driving a student to the bus, a distance of about 10 blocks. There is an engine block heater which I use all winter but the engine never warms up on the ten block run. I do service the engine twice a year, every six months. What damage am I doing and what can I do to prevent any damage?
View 14 RepliesWhat besides a 4" exhaust can I do to lower EGT? When I tow with my tow tune the EGT gets high on long steep pulls. Would like to be able to use it with the tune because there is more power and it pulls nicer, but I want to lower my EGT. I have a 4" flo pro system coming. What else can I do? Would a new intercooler make much of a difference? Already have an S&B cold intake and Banks Hi Ram.
View 14 Replieshow to find a floor jack that is low enough and has a long enough chassis to get to the central jacking points of the IS? I have 2 different models and there is no way they are long enough to reach the identified jack points but still allow for handle movement. Need to change my winter wheels and don't want to use the floor jack on the pinch weld jacking positions. Also don't really want to use the onboard jack....
View 6 RepliesMy XLT doesn't have a door keypad and in the last 2 years I've really missed it. I found one on eBay that is factory part. I know I'll need to purchase a new handle with the holes for the keys to come through, but my question is will my truck be pure wired with the necessary plug to install this or is it going to be a hassle? The description says it will work on any trick with keyless entry. I assume this means the key fob keyless entry but before I ordered it I wanted to check on here first.

View 14 RepliesHow to reset/re-program my original key. It all started when the plastic casing of the key broke off and tried to use the original spare key wallet type with transponder and key dont go all the way in the ignition and key get stuck in one position but manage to get it out. Tried to put the broken one with the transponder close to it and will not start. Luckily i still have another original key that works. I have change the battery of the broken one and fabricated new housing made of brass and have tried the remote and it doesnt work too.
View 12 RepliesWhen I 1st brought the car the original brakes and rotors squeak, I really didn't mind bcuz I had plans on changing them, now I installed the aftermarket slot/drilled rotors with new ceramic brake pads, and I still get squeaking from the front brakes, weather it's wet or dry, cold or warm they squeak, what I can do to stop this?

View 12 RepliesI have a 2014 passat. The battery went dead and I had someone come out and recharge it and it did fine. However, the engine light is still on. I have left the car running for approximately 20 minutes in an effort to charge the battery, which it has, but the light that is shaped like an engine is still on. Does this need to go back to the dealership to fix?
