How to remove the center console? Like that area by the shifter and rectangular spot before it? I am wanting to add some felt or something to stop all the creaks I hear while driving.
View 11 RepliesNoticed lately that pulling into my driveway... the rear suspension creaks a little when it comes from the road into the start of the driveway..the driveway is a little higher than the road and i hear a creak sound. also noticed that coming to a sudden stop at low speed and the weight of the car shifts to the front the rear suspension also creaks a little. is this normal and just me being overly picky because its a lexus? or is there a possible issue... also the days this happened it was pretty cold here so don't know if its a factor but never heard it before...

5k oil and filter regularly. Got new HV battery at 142k. Changed the coolant switching valve done . Coolant pump changed under Recall. Steering midshaft done. Front pads replaced at 120k. Rear shoes getting very close to replacement. Trans fluid change at 120k per manual and at 190k. Plugs at 120k.
Two new issues: when coasting in N, pretty quiet. Driving or coasting in D, there is a growl. At 35-40 mph, wind noise masks it. Frequency increases with speed. It isn't getting worse. And no better after the transaxle fluid change. Can't be CV or bearings because it only happens when in motion in D. No lights on MFD. I have not looked for codes.
Okay. So the past two days I went out to start my car to let it sit for a minute or two. When I went back out I heard a strange noise coming from the passenger side towards the front of the engine. So I got in the car and went to drive out. I shifted into gear and went to pull out and when I turned the steering wheel my battery light came on and the steering wheel got hard. Only lasted for about a second. Then while driving I noticed the passenger side creeks when I hit a bump. Also after driving and parking I noticed my car jumps around slightly at idle
I'll get a video of the noise tomorrow morning...
Also, I do have a custom cold air intake I built myself, and a custom built exhaust.
My '13 Prius Four has started to make a really annoying buzzing sound from the rear while driving. It can be heard inside the car but seems to be louder for passengers in the rear.
View 8 RepliesRecently bought a CPO 2010 RX350 with 57k miles on it at a dealer on 8/30/14. Its developed quite a bit of interior rattles and creaks from what sounds like the structure over bumps and roads that aren't smooth. Plus the sunroof has a high frequency rattle. None of these were present during the test drive.
View 9 RepliesTonight while driving I heard a rattling noise under the engine, come to a stop and the engine cuts off. I pop the hood, get a jump and nothing. So I check the oil and it is dry... I changed it 4 months ago myself, it is a mystery how it leaked. No light came on, no oil leaks anywhere..
Is there any hope in having the engine turn over again? If so how should I go about trying to turn it? Engine only has 61000 miles on it.
Two fixes: When raising the roof, stop it halfway. It reveals a round rubber bump stop that sits against the rear parcel shelf. The bumpstop can be adjusted by rotating it. If you raise the bump stop, it sits harder against the parcel shelf and reduces movement, thereby reducing noises. Also, lubricate all roof and boot (trunk) rubbers with glycerine (glycerol).
View 12 RepliesI have an issue with my new 2011 F150 FX4 super crew with 5.0. I put a Rough Country level kit on the front struts which raised it 2.5 inches and looks great. The issue is that there is a low speed knock heard on the left side and felt through to the steering wheel. The truck has been aligned to factory specs. all bolts have been tightened, the strut has been taken off to check the top mounting bolts. Nothing appears to loose. Can't find anything. Am I forgetting something. Rough Country said it can't be the kit. It has bee used for sometime with no issues.

Car is under warranty but I'm curious as to why it is. Also it doesn't do it all the time so that's another problem with bringing it to the dealer.
View 9 RepliesA week ago, I bought my wife a 2010 Platnium White Lariat. (I will post pics later, when it's clean). We noticed that the smell of fuel, was bad after driving it, and coming to a stop, say at a stop sign.
We returned it to our dealer, yesterday, and this what they found. Just though I'd pass it on to you, for problem shooting, and infor to ask a dealership.
This is the quote on the paper we have. "Customer states when filling up or at idle the can smell fuel in the passenger compartment. Smells like coming from the engine area. Leaking at fuel rail. Tightened valve and road test no leaks now".
We were told that it was a "schrader valve". There was NO CHARGE for this repair. So far it seems to be o.k.
The advise we were given was as follows:
1) NO HEET is needed in the fuel tank
2) No Sea Foam, or injector cleaner of any kind
REASON: Was told it would mess up gaskets, and seals etc. I'm not a mechanic, just passing the word that I was told.
Lexus IS350 ... Noticed a reasonably quiet clunk from the car when coming to a stop? It happens when the transmission automatically shifts into 1st gear with your foot on the brakes.
I noticed that in my car, you can feel a slight lurch forward as the transmission downshifts into first when approaching a stop sign. If I am barely on the brakes, I feel the slight lurch but don't hear anything. Under normal braking, that slight lurch happens along with a clunk. You wouldn't hear it with the radio on, but it's very repeatable and with the windows down you can hear it as well coming from under the car somewhere.
Is there any way to keep the radio screen up instead of it automatically switching to the nav screen after a few mins?
I've tried (i think) every option in the settings menu and i looked in the owners manual, but can't find anything.
I was wondering why is it when I am going to get gas (full tank) while pumping, it will suddenly stop around half tank? And i know its half tank because i can see how much gallons its taken in. Is there a certain way of putting the handle in? So far its happened twice and its really annoying. Any reasons why it does that? Also does it on my dads toyota sequioa at times...

View 14 RepliesI have a 2010 LS460 AWD with 42k miles and notice when I am making a medium to wide angle turn at parking lot speeds the front wheels make an intermittent metallic clicking/ticking noise that can be clearly heard when the windows are down and stereo is off. The noise can be heard when turning in either direction, driving forward or in reverse, and both accelerating and slowing down. Doesn't seem to happen when I'm turning the steering wheel while the car is stationary. Dealer suspects noise is due to dry contact areas between pads, calipers, and anti rattle springs and wants to perform a brake service for $330 before they're willing to investigate further (car still under warranty till end of the year). If noise is brake-related shouldn't it only occur when I'm applying the brakes? What should I do?
View 7 RepliesI'm new to the Lexus family. I recently bought a 2007 rx 350. It's in wonderful condition. I noticed that when I go above 60ish, I hear what sounds like a draft or a static-like sound. I've turned the radio off, air off, turned on re-circulated air, made sure all the windows are up, but no matter what I still hear it. I had a small Honda Civic before so I don't know if it's getting used to the aerodynamics of an suv? It almost sounds like there's a "crack" that's allowing air to come through the but there isn't. I don't notice it at all when I'm driving around town, only really on the interstate. It's most noticeable when in the drivers seat. I wasn't sure if it's just the nature of the ventilation system of this vehicle or should I have it checked? Am I just over analyzing?
View 6 RepliesI've been trying to pin point this golf ball rattle i hear from my passenger rear side of my car. I though it was the sway bar end links wearing out, so i changed those along with a pair of new rear struts as they were leaking.
I was still getting the that rattles when i drove on bumpy roads. I then though it was the sway bar bushings going out on me so i took the sway bar off to eliminate it all together.....WRONG AGAIN.
Ok, it must be something behind the bumper right? before i start pulling the bumper clips my spider man senses zoned in on the passenger rear wheel caliper that i had changed 6 months ago due to a rusted guide pin that i acquire while i was living in snow country New York.
I began rocking the caliper and to my surprise the damn thing was moving very loosely.
Time for some maintenance: Turned out that the lower guide pin on the 6 month old caliper was loose. Cleaned it up and tighten it with an Allen key applied some crc brake grease, installed new brake pads and hardware and that took care of that damn rattling.
I bought a certified used 2014 GX460 with 16K. I now have 20k. Last week while on vacation, 450 miles away from home, while on a stop light the engine just stopped. I re cranked pulled into Drive and it stopped again. I wanted a couple of mins and it re started. I pulled to a safe area and called my service adviser. He said to keep driving it. Probably just a fluke.
It drove good for the next 45 mins. Later same day we took off again in it. It stopped on me 6 more times. Some were while I was travelling at 60 mph. It just stopped. Had to pull to the side of the road before I lost all steering ability. Kind of scary when a 18 wheeler is on your bumper.
I had it towed to the dealership. They kept if for 5 days. They said they replaced some gaskets around the exhaust valves??? Not areal good explanation.
I drove it 1 1/2 days (45 miles) and it started doing this again. It is at the deal ship now.
Any time I open or close the driver side door, hearing some noise from the door hinge.
View 1 RepliesDriving down the road today listening to radio in my 2007 LS460. The sound suddenly stopped and just a repeating loud clicking sound is heard. No radio, CD, or Handsfree sound, just annoying clicking even when audio is off. Turned off car and restarted. Same clicking. Disconnecting amp in trunk only way to stop clicking noise.
