Every time I go over a speed bump faster then 2-3MPH There is this terrible thump / rattle that sounds like a rusted out 1993 Buick Riviera with blown out shocks.
View 3 RepliesI have recently started to have the exhaust rattle on my RX330. It occurs every now and then when the car is on an angle or more particularly when going over a speed bump. I had been trying to find out where it was coming from and it looked to be the exhaust possibly touching the plate that separates the exhaust from the spare wheel cover (which of course is plastic). This is the part I am talking about....
Now the first part of me thinks that to resolve the issue it would be handy to put some padding there to stop it from rattling against the shield when the exhaust does move. The second part of me also thinks, it might be time to replace the rubber holders as they seem to be particularly soft and have quite a bit of give to them. Now for the interim I would want to put some padding on there. What padding have to put there? Would exhaust wrap be the most obvious choice to wrap around the shield?
Trying to find an inexpensive temporary solution. The long term resolution would be for the actual rubber rings themselves to be replaced as well as having that small metal bit covered in some sort of wrap to prevent metal to metal touching (hence vibration and noise). Part of me also thought to remove the shield altogether, but worried that the exhaust may touch the plastic around the tyre and cause it to melt and possibly catch fire, as it does sway a bit.
Am I missing something or why when I press the auto climate it would always bump the fan a/c up to maximum speed and never adjust itself? Defeats the purpose of auto climate control.

View 3 RepliesI just got a 3rd gen IS 1 month ago, but the last 3 weeks there is a rattle noise coming from the rear door on the driver side. I went to lexus twice now but they were unable to fix it and they told me to wait till the car breaks in.

I've been experiencing this annoying rattle coming from the front end. The rattle is not very loud and every time I drive over a bump, it sounds like I am driving over a Texas gate. I don't feel the rattle, but I hear it. It occurs only when I drive over a bump on the passenger side. No rattle occurs when I drive over a bump on the driver's side.
I have 3 questions:
1. Is it fair to rule out a bad engine mount?
2. Is it reasonable to pinpoint this to possibly a bad strut mount on the passenger side?
3. What are the impacts of driving 1700 miles until having this looked at? I have to go out of town next weekend. I called the Lexus dealership here at home and the earliest they can look at it is two weeks from now.

When going slowly over a neighborhood speed bump after about 2 minutes of low speed engine operation (engine still cold), the transmission seems to disengage, spinning in neutral for about one second, then it engages.
This doesn't happen when the engine is warm. Is this normal? Is it a problem?
IS F Sports (2014), Clunking/thumping noise when you go over a bump. This is a known problem throughout the IS F Sport series.
View 14 RepliesSo I cant figure out where this is coming from. It only happens when the car is in low RPM. Like starting from a stop or going slow in very low RPM I hear plastic rattling constantly. I went in the back and the only thing that is making similar noise is when I tap on the plastic cover of the rear hatch under the window.
View 3 RepliesShortly after we got our 08 ls460 my gf asked if I had felt a weird brake issue. She said it was like the car would "jerk" or "bump". The way she described it was more like how a car with an auto tranny will "creep" if you aren't holding the brake pedal down firmly. Yesterday I was driving the car, with her in it. Stop at a light. All is well. Brake off, gas on to leave...It felt like someone hit us on the left rear of the car. I actually stopped and looked behind us to see what the hell happened. She says "that's the feeling I was telling you about". When we got the car I had it on a lift and noticed the left rear sway bar link was broken, but there was no damage to indicate a reason. I can't find anything else on this problem anywhere and can't tell if it's brake related or trans related. Our local lexus dealer is going to check it out on wed at 9am.
Calipers were in great shape when I did the brakes with no hanging or signs of trouble. Everything works like it should 99% of the time. But damn if that 1% won't scare you.
I have an 08 LS base model, and recently while driving I'll hear a knocking noise coming from the rear suspension. This is every time I'll go I'll go over a bump. The knock is the same as when I had my 03 Acura TL .
View 6 RepliesI have taken it to the dealership and they claim they can't hear anything and I'll have to wait for it to get worse. The noise emanates from the front left wheel well area. It is only heard at low speeds (under 20-25mph) on areas of semi-rough or undulating pavement. It sounds like a loose shock or something....
I've seen on other boards that there have been problems with other Lexus vehicles and the struts, upper and lower insulators, mounts and bump stops.
How to fix rear air suspension from dropping down to bump stops ...if I reset it every night it is fine but if not it will be down on bump stops by morning.

View 10 RepliesMy left rear suspension will leak down to bump stops unless I turn off auto suspension leveler. I can set suspension at high level turn off and it will stay that way i had set that way for 2 weeks and no leak but if I turn on leveler it may stay or it may leak down usually just left side somebody had said that my air bags were leaking so I tested it out all last month and find it hard to believe the bags are leaking if it will stay inflated a week or 2.

I've emptied the glovebox and the rattle is still there and even driven with the glovebox door open and it still rattles. Is there a known issue in this area? I've tried searching on the forum but I'm not having much luck.
View 4 RepliesJust took my 2014 F150 FX4 to the dealer for a rattle in the front and rear passenger side doors that rattle with the windows down . Sounds bad when you close the door. Dealer told me it was normal. So here I am with a 50,000 dollar truck with 5,000 miles on it and they say that's normal even tho the drivers side doors do not make this noise. Not really happy with FMC these days.
View 14 RepliesIS350 fsport. I have had the car for two weeks already and these sounds are driving me crazy. Its definitely coming from the center console area, I can even move it a bit and its makes the squeak sound. On bumps something like a little plastic pebble feels like it rattles. I went to lexus and they couldn't really do anything about it. They said its normal when two plastics come together to squeak.
