Driving home on the high way today the amber PCS light starts flashing for no apparent reason. I had been driving for about 3 hours at high speed and was in the last hour of my return from holidays when it came on.
View 3 RepliesI just swapped out my 2014 IS350 F sport for a 2015. The 2014 rear brake light in the rear window would flash when you hit the brake pedal about 5 times and then remain steady. I really liked this feature and now my new 2015 does not do this. I don't see how to turn this on or off in the settings. Both cars are 350 F Sport models - AWD, NAV Etc.
I have seen several other new model IS's and none of them have ever done this. My neighbor has a 250 Non-F Sport. So I assumed it was a 350 or F Sport thing.
----My 2014 had 20,000 miles and needed tires. The lease payoff was low enough that the dealer bought it out and put me in a new one for the same price. I got a different color plus cooled seats and a few other small differences (And went from black to white).
Okay....I have an 01 blazer 6 cylinder 4.3. For a while it was missing fairly bad until I had the distributor replaced and the problem went away for about 2 months. Now it seems to have the same problem again so I am wondering if that wasn't the real problem. Here is what is going on. The tac needle bounces and it feels like the engine is misfiring. When I am driving on the highway sometimes the CEL starts flashing. Sometimes it stops and sometimes it doesn't. Plus now it feels like when it changes gears it's lurching. It only does that sometimes. The odd part is there seems to be no distinguishable pattern to the lurching. I think the misfire could be just the timing needs to be adjusted.

When I get off the highway and drive in town with o/d light flashing the truck downshifts hard when slowing down at stoplights.,also when almost to stop i hear ticking sound in tranny until i come to complete stop. My ranger is 4wd 4.0 and automatic.
View 2 RepliesAbout 4 months ago, I had the battery replaced since the car was not starting easily and they said voltage was not good. They also shimmed the ignition coil at the same time. I thought it was a bit early for a new battery but ok.
Last Friday I started getting a flashing battery light on the console but no other issues. Thought I would bring it in Monday.
Sunday I was driving on the highway and all warning lights came on, flashing, console died then came back on with a bunch of warning lights and then the car died. I managed to get off the highway with about 10% power and park in a lot. Car would not start once I turned it off, click, click, click, click like no power etc but rest of power in car seemed fine. Started fine Monday morning and I drove it to the dealership.
The dealership says the code was P2502 (Charging System Voltage). They are going to replace the Battery Sensor first and then if that doesn't work replace the Alternator.
2002 7.3 4R100 ... The truck started flashing the O/D light pulling a 9K lb trailer on the highway.
The transmission codes read were P0705 (Range Selector) and P0873 (bad 3-4 shift - RPMs did not drop).
On the highway, the TCC seemed to lock up fine in 4th (OD button was set to leave O/D ON). When the truck would downshift (not often) then it would sometimes would rev high when it downshifted. It was like 3rd was slipping or it was downshifting into 2nd instead of 3rd. I think it was doing a 4-2 downshift but not 100% sure.
What confuses me is that if it is doing a 4-2 downshift then it would have to change state of both valve body solenoids. Is it possible that it was doing a 4-3 shift but solenoid was sort of sticking? Trans fluid looks fine.
I have read other posts where people had same problem (titled 3rd gear slipping), but they never seemed to resolve the problem in the thread. How likely is it that the solenoid is the problem? It seems to drive fine in 3rd when the O/D OFF button is pressed and O/D is not allowed.
I had my radio swapped by the dealer last night due to an issue with the navigation screen restarting while driving an randomly blinking / flashing blue or white. However today the blinking / flashing came back just minutes after picking the car up from the dealer and again this morning while driving to work.
Just out of curiosity is the radio different in a Mark Levinson car or is it only the speakers, sub etc. that distinguishes the sound?
When I drive the 460 on the highway it tends to constantly wander, always needing minor correction. The tires are Michelin Pilot MXM4 18s set to Lexus recommendations, the tire wear is excellent.
View 7 RepliesIt's my first time experiencing a flat tire after hitting a pothole. I was on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, NY on Saturday evening after watching The Amazing Spiderman 2. It was about 12:15 AM, and there were still a lot of cars on the road. (and they were fast!!!) I wasn't aware and hit a pothole, and I immediately heard a loud "BANG" noise from the left wheel. I switched on the tire pressure indicator on the dashboard right afterward, and the air pressure started decreasing. Luckily, I was able to find an exit early and pulled over on local road to check the car. I swapped out the flat tire with the spare and went home safely with my girlfriend.
* I was surprised that the Bridgestone Turanza was able to hold up with 0 air pressure, without letting the rim rolling and touching on the ground.
* Rim is fine - no bent, no scratch
* Took the wheel to a tire shop and discovered that there must be some sharp edges in the pothole, which teared the side of the tire for about 2 inches (right underneath the tip of the rim). Total replacement with installation - $290. Shop ordered a brand new tire (same model) and I will return on Monday to get the tire fixed.
1) How do I check whether the suspension is okay?
2) The tire pressure indicator on the gauge shows nothing now - all 4 wheels. I'm not sure what's going on. I still have the spare wheel on, so I'm not sure whether this is causing the issue.
3) Where is the tire pressure sensor located? When I return to the tire shop on Monday, will the tire guy know how to swap out the bad tire with the new one without messing up with the tire pressure sensor in there?
I have 18k miles on my IS350 AWD Fsport. Brought it in for shake at highway speeds around 70-80. Dealer called and said steel belts are showing on REAR tires on my ALL Wheel Drive. My mileage is 2/3 highway. Went Hankook Ventus V12s on my 2IS and fronts would wear much faster...
View 5 RepliesOn my way home from work tonight cruising on the highway, heard a loud thump followed by continuous thumps thereafter. Knowing this wasn't good pulled over to find a nice big nail in my passenger side front tire, great. thought I could make it home, I was about 6 exits away...one exit later nail flew out and tire was loosing air.
- luckily for me, I had a friend who lived nearby the exit the nail flew off and put on the spare.... now my question is I noticed some camber wear on the tire.. 15,200 miles to be exact on the stock oem bridgestones.
- I know these tires are complete crap but... is this camber wear normal? I've seen other posts about it but, is it the tires? or something to do with the car? I am pretty sure my alignment is fine. If I buy a new set of tires eventually will this end up happening again? Trying to gain some knowledge for the future.
Also is it true that with AWD cars, if you change one tire you have to change all 4? because it might mess up the drivetrain or something, at least that's what I was told.
So yesterday we had a bit of snow north of the city. I was driving on the highway and suddenly my cruise control deactivated and I got a message to clean the radar. Then I had PCM flash every second or so. I was really frustrated because this is a MINIMAL amount of snow and it's not even below zero. I'm hoping that this isn't an ongoing issue with these cars? Any solution besides getting out of the car and cleaning it? When I got home I saw that there was a layer of ice on the Lexus logo on the front of the car.....

View 9 RepliesWell, I only put on about 2 k miles since Lexus replaced all of the control arms under warranty. Now again I feel the same symptoms. Some rattle when going over bad bumps on the right side.
And when driving on the highway and tapping brakes, I get a thud. A thud I am familiar with when the Strut bar bushings are bad or going. Its not too bad, but I would not expect a brand new front end to feel like that.
I am due for an oil change in a few weeks. Again I'll have to leave the car for days and drive a loaner.
Came on while i was driving on the highway, i pulled into a rest stop turned my car off gave it a minute. drove it again and it came on after like 10 seconds.pulled off the next exit, turned it on gave it a minute again and i haven't gotten it on since. this was two days ago.
View 8 RepliesIt's a 2000 3.4 ... while i was driving on the highway the ses came on and it started running rough checked it when i got home cylinder 6 misfire came up so i did a compression test it only had 30 psi..there was a hole in a valve so i put on new heads changed the plugs and wires and a bunch of other things. put it all back together and it still does the same thing except now i have 160 psi in cylinder 6. I tried another coil, ICM, fuel injector, plug, wire and nothing changes.
View 12 RepliesI just changed my inverter coolant pump which is running perfectly well. However in recent times, whenever I'm on the highway with ac on or there is a sudden brake, the red triangle light pops up. Checks on the inverter pump show that as far that is concerned everything is working. I'm really getting worried over this.
View 6 RepliesToday I test drove the car and was told that the key fob was lost and a replacement was programmed for the car to start...but not locks. But while driving it I noted that the Immobilizer / Theft deterrent light was flashing. Is this normal because everything i'm reading says that the car shouldn't even start. I know that the car isn't stolen because we are planning to take over the loan in the morning for the car at the bank. What I should do. If this is because the key was only programmed without the original then can I simply use this one until I can have Toyota make me a new key for around 350-400 based on what I'm seeing online.

View 6 RepliesI just purchased a 2013 Elantra GT, 3 days ago. I was driving down the highway and my check engine light came on. There is only 480 miles on my car! I know it's not a gas cap. I haven't even put gas in it since I drove it off the lot. Is there a way to check for the code thrown without a scanner? I use to have a jeep liberty and I could click the key over 3 times an the code would pop up.
View 24 RepliesThe wife and I own a 2003 Hyundai Elantra with 163k miles.
We just had our oil changed and we are currently running 5/30 and the oil light came on about a week after the change. I stopped the car immediately and checked the oil level and it was fine and oil was super clean. So I jumped back in the car and the light was off. Drove down the road about 2-3 miles and the light came back on and stayed on. Today it stayed off for a good 5-10 min while driving at highway speeds of 55-60 and then it popped on. The car runs great and it's not running hot that I know of and doesn't sputter or anything.
I was wondering if it was a bad Oil Pressure Switch? Where are they located at in the motor? I just put 1k into it with new new belts, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, wires and tires.
