Heard this noise from the suspension when going over bumps with the windows rolled down? It's loud enough to where i am sure it could be heard if you were a pedestrian walking next to the car. I have an IS350 Fsport (AVS), sounds pretty junky.
View 14 RepliesSo I noticed this when I had my windows down and the music off (or very low) for the past few weeks (at this point). About 3800 miles on the car, and maybe once or twice during a drive It is an occasional clank/ metallic noise that sounds like it is coming from either the left or right side depending on which tire hits the bump. But I can go over any number of bumps before and after with no noise at all, and it's not like I'm hearing it on just large bumps/ potholes. I've never heard it on any speed bumps.
I have a feeling it is when only one tire drops down a bit from a small bump, but that is only a feeling, and it's on small bumps. I tried looking up other threads on here for suspension noise, but mostly only finding things dating back to 2011 or so with brake caliper pins, possibly motor mount but nothing really recent.
My truck is making a metal on metal rattling noise when going over undulations or the type of vibration when you drive over a rumble strip.
It seems to be coming from underneath the engine area, but not quite sure. The sound is like a kettle lid clanking on the actual kettle when the water's boiling if you can hear what I mean. No noise when just driving.
All work yesterday. This morning, windows can't be rolled down from all controls. Power lock works only from passenger side.

View 8 RepliesI own a 2003 Honda Accord with approximately 90,000 miles. I've noticed a metallic-sounding clank coming from what sounds like the front wheels when I go over all potholes and road imperfections (which are frequent in NY). Additionally, if I travel over the same potholes or road imperfections while on the brakes, there's no noise. More recently, I've noticed an additional noise. If I am traveling at a slow speed, such as parking or driving in a fast food drive thru, I'll hear a loud clicking coming from the front wheels as they turn, when I have the wheel turned.
View 3 RepliesRecently picked up a certified '14 IS 350. Noticed a quite regular 'creak' or 'rubbing' like noise when going over bumps and such, emanating from my left ear area of the car. If i open the window slightly these noises essentially go away. I'm guessing the closing of the window tweaks the door frame which tweaks the sealing of the door... And so the noise of probably the seals rubbing in just the wrong way. (Not thrilled that this is occurring in a car of Lexus' quality reputation).
View 4 RepliesSo I have noticed this issue where whenever I put a window down and then roll it back up, there will be smears of moisture all over the outside of the window. It does it on both front windows, don't often put the back ones down so I don't know if it affects those.
What this suggests is that the seal/pad that runs against the outside of the window is retaining some moisture in it and deposits it on the window as it slides past.
What I am concerned about is the possibility of there being excess moisture on the inside of the door. Has not happened in several days as the cold weather has kept the moisture low and/or frozen.
Took the car outta storage today. After driving home with the windows partially down, i rolled them up and then herd 3 beeps and a couple lights flash on the dash. I drove around a little more and did the same thing... window partially down, then back up and i got 3 beeps and some lights on the dash flash.
View 5 RepliesI have an RX 450H and noticed that there is a squeaking sound coming from the dashboard. I looked at other posts where people were experiencing similar issues and noticed one post where someone had a GS 450H and fixed this issue by adding felt between the dashboard and the windscreen.
I would like to know whether this method works 100% and whether I can apply this method to the RX 450H. The noise becomes worse when it is cold and especially when the car is being driven over rough road surfaces and speed bumps.
I'm having an issue with my car this afternoon. This problem has occured randomly about three times now over the course of two years. I've noticed though as of today that it happens whenever I sit in my car, roll down the windows and turn off the car to wait for someone or take a nap, etc. Is this a clue?
When I go to turn the car back on, the power windows roll up veeery slow. The car has pretty much all the lights on the dash - the red triangle, VSC, all of those in that row. Also, the brake light is red on the dash (I have attempted to engage/disengage the parking break but the red brake light still remains 'on' on the dashboard) and the brake button has a blinking green light. I also can not move the car into gear in any way - 'drive' or 'b', etc. The first two times this happened, I called AAA because I thought the battery was dead and they didn't know what to make of it as the lights were clearly ON on the dash so there was power to the car. They did attempt to jump it which didn't really do anything but somehow they managed to sort it out (not even knowing what they did!) and I could switch gears and drive again. This hasn't happened in quite a long while - not until today when I rolled the windows down turned the car off (I'm pretty sure I shut it off) and sat for 30 min.
What happens more often lately is.. I go to turn the car on in the Am and the red triangle goes on the dash and the car will not go into gear. I also get the 'transmission' problem on the display. So, I have to take my foot off the brake and just pretty much hold down the power button for a while until it shuts the car off - then when I press down on the break and push the power button again, it starts up normal and I can drive. This has happened more consistently then the problem mentioned about. I read on this forum that the problem seems to be the 12v battery needs replacing - but does that mean it's also related to the issue above?? I'm thinking since the power windows were in use this would be a related issue.
So, if this is a 12 v battery issue - what are my options? I'm stuck at work right now. Should AAA NOT try to jump it (I've been reading this is not a good thing to do unless the dash won't go on) but just tow it to the dealership. I have a 2007 Prius.
Where this sound is coming from? I notice it more when the engine hasn't been turned on in a few hours or so. It only happens at certain engine rpms, usually a bit higher than idle. It's a bit squeaky, per se, may need to turn up audio on the video below to hear it. May need to bring her in (just did a 30k service too..)
Possibly a belt of some sort? My AC is on at startup.
Had my JoeZ exhaust installed at my first oil change at the dealership about a month ago.
Anyway, late last week I noticed on cold start in the morning I'm getting a metallic vibration noise. This is on gentle acceleration out of my subdivision. It disappears within a minute or less and doesn't re-occur until the next morning. Best way I can describe the sound is a cell phone set to vibrate sitting on an aluminum cookie sheet.
Any hints on what I can check that might be the culprit? I already checked to see if the muffler tips are hitting the exhaust diffusers but they're clearing and I can reach up around the canisters and fit my hand up around them so they're not touching that silver heat shield material.
Is it just me or does the shape of the is-f make it really hard to enjoy driving with your windows down after 20mph? Strong wind in your face, loud buffeting in your ears. Opening all 4 windows better but it's still one of the worst vehicles to drive with the windows down I've ever driven...

Basically I put the dry window down and it comes back up covered in small water droplets. That's not a big concern by itself but if it's not just some random part like the weather sealing that stays damp and my doors are holding onto a bunch of water that has me worried.
Just recently got a 2011 Prius II and i love it. Only having one issue. Sometimes when i hit a bump with the windows open, i get a metallic clunking noise, but if i hit a bump immediately after it, I don't hear it again. Maybe 5 minutes or so later (not exact at all), If i hit another bump it will happen again. Seems to be on both sides of the car. Car has 5k miles so I'll be bringing in for service next week. Does this sound normal or is it something i need to have looked at?

Happens only when going over sharp bumps and even road reflectors. Had this happen on my 2001 Highlander. Turned out to be incorrectly installed brake caliper. Needed new spring clips. Don't think this is the issue in the v. Have about 10k miles.
Can only hear the sound with drivers window down and while driving along a curb, k-rail or wall. What's up?
I have about 2000 miles on a new V-8 and there seems to be a loud tingy noise if I really get on it say above 4500 revs either driving or in park. It seems to be coming from either the catalytic converter or exhaust area. It is a very metallic clanging noise that is very audible outside the vehicle under heavier throttle positions, almost like a metal plate hitting another piece of metal.

2012 Prius 3 with solar roof. Most of the time when I go over little divest in the road; just large enough to barely feel, I hear a metallic clicking sound from the front passenger side of the vehicle. It is only audible with the windows down. It only happens if I am going faster than around 10mph. Sometimes I hear a similar sound from the drivers side, but not as much as the passenger side. I do not usually hear it when hitting larger bumps that work the shocks a bit harder.
It really sounds like some loose bits of metal contacting each other. I do not see anything obvious with a quick visual inspection, but I have not raised the vehicle to really get a good look down there.
The rear left side is rubbing over bumps with 2 adults in the back...

Really want to keep the lowered look and in fact I want to lower the rear 5mm more. Thinking of changing to 255 in place of the 265 for the rear.
I have a 2014 IS350. Is there a way to roll the windows up and down with the remote? My friend has and Acura that can roll the windows up and down with the remote. He holds the lock or unlock buttons to adjust them.
