Lexus IS 2014+ :: Gas Cap Rattles
Mar 17, 2015
More specifically, how can I get my gas cap to not rattle. I'm thinking of dynamating the inside panel in the trunk and inside the gas cap itself.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2014 RX350 and the brake pedal rattles when I use it. It seems to be loose at the pivot point way up under that dash but I can't get to it. It seems to have excessive movement side to side otherwise it works as it should.
View 6 RepliesJust bought this car last week. My last car was a 2011 Maxima and before that a Murano so I am use to the CVT bu this cars shifting seems to be off.
I have noticed the front end rattles a little when idling. Also there is a noticeable violent shift/shake a certain points when it shifts.....usually when going about 20 and stepping on the gas fast. It does not happen all the time and that is what I'm worried about because I am bringing it for service and I'm sure they will say "we don't feel anything". Believe me something is not right. I think the dealer would have to drive the car for a while to experience it. It happened bad when I went up a hill this morning.
I have a 2010 Ford Raptor and lately I have been hearing some rattles coming from the back seat. I am about 99% sure it's from the rear window... Not positive, but when I listen for the sound that's where it comes from. It's very faint on normal road and rattles after every bump or pothole I hit. I am still under warranty but I don't want to take it to ford unless I have to. I have spent hours on end looking for solutions online but I can't find anything that's my exact problem.
View 4 RepliesOnce truck is warm, its rattles and shakes like its starving fuel. Worse when backing up.
If i am in neutral, i can rev the engine and it corrects the rattle/shake and can sit idle for hours without reverting back to the rattles.
As soon as i start driving again and slowing at a light it starts rattling and shaking. The sound is almost like as if it was a diesel.
Once the truck is over 50kmh it does not do it at all and rides, sounds great with normal gas mileage.
I have heard this is a cam phaser issue, but maybe its timing chain or something simpler.
For the last several weeks, I've noticed that my accelerator clicks and rattles when I tap it.
View 3 RepliesAfter the dealer did some adjustments because they also heard vibrations, I'm still hearing rattles when on rough roads. There is a TSB but that is on the main rails with very loud noises. But this is not it.
This is just vibrating sound. Metal sounding. It only is audible with the visor open and glass closed. Not constant just a quick vibrate on the rough patches. Never had a car do this.
2013 GS350 Luxury
Recently bought a CPO 2010 RX350 with 57k miles on it at a dealer on 8/30/14. Its developed quite a bit of interior rattles and creaks from what sounds like the structure over bumps and roads that aren't smooth. Plus the sunroof has a high frequency rattle. None of these were present during the test drive.
View 9 RepliesOur 1 year old 2013 RX with 7,500 miles has a ridiculous amount of rattles/noise for a car that age. There seems to a rattle coming somewhere from the passenger side B pillar, and also from the passenger seat. I also hear a rattle coming from the back when driving, either rear seat or trunk area. Finally, there is a noticeable thunk when the car comes to a complete stop. It sounds like that is coming somewhere from the back under the car.
This is ridiculous for a premium vehicle of that price. I thought I would buy a solid piece of machinery from Lexus, but this car has more rattles than our 5 year old Toyota RAV4.
The back of my passenger seat rattles, resonating when going over bumps (and not weighted with a passenger). I've lifted my back on the driver's seat and it doesn't seem to rattle over the same bumps. How to tighten it up?
View 4 RepliesJust in case the dealer wants to be a jerk and skip fixing the rattles I have on my car, just curious about creaking noises coming from the front doors. I have one that is pretty bad on the passenger side door. It sounds like a small creek, it happens when i go through roads that are not perfect. The noise goes away if I push against the door panel, not so much when I yank it in. I currently have a broken driver seat too, so hard to pinpoint if I have the exact same problem on the driver side front door, but the creaking is the same.
View 14 RepliesSo randomly my sunroof has begun to rattle terribly when driving at 70+. It only rattles when closed, if I have it in the "up" position there is no rattle but obv then u get road noise.
I looked as well as I could down into the tracks and felt around and couldn't see or feel any loose screws or anything so I'm stumped.
My center speaker grill in the middle of the dashboard makes rattle noises when the temperature drops. So in the summer the parts expand to be tight and no noise. As soon as the temp drops <60F, the parts shrink slightly and the speaker grill makes all kinds of creaking, rattling noises as the car goes over bumps, goes around turns, etc.
View 4 RepliesPicked up a 2007 Lexus GS350 last weekend. Immaculate condition inside and out with 60K miles. Silver on Black. I was originally looking at a G35S, but the second I sat in the GS I knew there was no comparison. So unfortunately, the previous owner of the vehicle didn't fix the rattles.
I've searched the forums, and there's obviously tons of threads on fixing the rattles. Specifically, I looked here: [URL] .....
However, I'm still confused as to where PRECISELY I stuff felt between the windshield and dashboard. Is it drivers side to passenger side or just a section of it. I'd rather not stuff felt in places where it's needed on my brand new GS and potentially cause other rattles. So couple of questions:
- From where to where do I stuff felt between the dashboard and windshield?
- What's the ventilation cowl squeak? How is that different between the instrument panel rattle, dashboard chirp and central console creak as referenced in this thread: [URL] .....
We bought a 09 RX 350 that is a CPO, currently has 75 K on it. When the engine is first started it rattles like crazy and sounds like a diesel while the motor is at idle Once the car warms up it sounds fine.. The dealer tells me this is normal. Last oil change switched to full synthetic and it still rattles at start up.
View 2 Replies2010 Lexus Rx450h... Rattles in the morning, only when really cold. (Around freezing?). Somewhere in or near the passenger side door, or the air vent by that door. It gets quiet(er) after warmup. Car has been at the dealer for a week... They can't find it; they want to pack in additional insulation. That hardly sounds like a sound solution.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2008 GS 350.........85k miles. Last week noticed an annoying rattle in front passenger door towards the top just below the window. Should I bring this up to the service technician at my next Lexus dealer service visit?
View 1 RepliesGot a brand new 2013 GS350 fsport. 2 weeks in, dash rattles. Dealer pulling whole thing out, says no big deal. Bluetooth connectivity issues, android connectivity doesn't work. Dealer says wait on new app.
View 14 RepliesI noticed when I got my CPO 2013 GS350 that the rear view mirror has some "give" - it feels a little loosely attached to the windshield and there is some play before the adjustment actually starts to engage. It also rattles sometimes with road vibration as a result. Is this the usual for GS350 or has mine come loose?
I noticed when I got an ES loaner vehicle that the mirror was firmly attached to the windshield.
I had been waiting a long time for a remote start solution to be available for my 2014 IS-250 with navigation. I finally saw idatalink released a firmware for their ADS-ALCA bypass module that allows you to add a remote start that is triggered by the factory keypad. It was a fairly easy installation and it started up right away. I do have car installation experience, but I didnt find the installation to be that difficult in general.
View 14 RepliesI've had my Golf for about two and a half weeks now. Since the first day, I noticed a soft rattle coming from the car wheel sitting in neutral with the clutch out. If I push the clutch in, it quiets down even further but is still existent. If it's in gear and under load no noise.
I bought the car with 48 miles on it IIRC.
