Lexus IS 2014+ :: Buzzing / Humming Noise When Car Is Off
Dec 8, 2014
So I went into my garage last night to shut the door. I heard a slight buzzing/humming noise coming from the car. I narrowed the noise to under the truck of the vehicle. It sounded like a fuel pump was running. I don't know when it started, but it was about 5 hours after the car was driven last. After a little research, I found this in the manual page 8:
"Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and it does not indicate a malfunction."
I started my car and it stopped after that. Could this be The case of why some people have dead batteries on the 2014? Maybe this runs to frequently or stays on too long?

2015 IS350 AWD ... Lately I have noticed on a cold start that when my idle is between 1000-1500 rpms, there is a slight buzzing/humming noise. It goes away if I rev the rpms past 2000 rpms and also when it drops under 1000 rpms. It's almost like a droning noise. I can hear it inside and outside the vehicle when the rpms are in that range. I feel like the noise is made at a certain frequency and it causes a vibration to occur.

I keep my 2015 RX 350 in the garage, and last night I noticed a humming or buzzing noise coming from it. I switched the ignition to accessory position and turned it off and the noise stopped. A search here turned up many discussions noting is is the gas evaporation leakage check valve and it is a normal function of the vehicle. My question, is this some sort of pump that is running and causing battery drain?

Recently purchased a 2002 sc430 . After an hour of driving I began to hear a buzzing or humming coming from the backseat on the passenger side . Sounds almost like a fan. Car drives just fine but the buzzing is driving me nuts.

This morning I heard a "strange" buzzing noise coming from the rear of the vehicle and I don't know what it is.
As background I drove my IS250 for about 1hr yesterday and parked it for the night around 10pm inside a garage. This morning at around 7am (9 hours later), I came down to the garage to hear the buzzing "fan" noise. I am not sure what it is. The vehicle was OFF. I managed to record the noise.
IS250 Buzzing noise - Car OFF for 9hrs - YouTube ...
That said, the buzzing noise couldn't be something left on overnight... since the battery was fine. The car proceeded to start just fine. What do you think it is? Can it be some sort of fuel vent pump or something?

This is a first for me. Came in last night after my 140 mile commute and pulled into my garage and turned off my car ('16 IS350F). This morning(approx. 10 hrs.later) I went into the garage and heard a humming noise. I thought it was the refrigerator, but as I walked around the back of the car,it was obvious the noise was originating from the right rear. It sounded(to me) just like the fuel pump running, but that made no sense as it isn't on the "hot" battery bus...ie: it doesn't run until the accessory power is provided. I got in the car and cranked it....let it run for a couple of minutes and shut it down and the humming stopped.

I have a 2015 IS250 Base with TRANNY PROBLEMS
After 185 miles on the vehicle, I reported the problem to Lexus and the Tech that test drove with me said I was hearing things. Apparently there was a humming noise coming from the transmission.
The noise became evident and consistent, took it back in again, the Tech says its normal and DI engines make a lot of noise.
After six months and 2700 miles the noise became annoying, Tech said they will look into it and confirmed it is unusual. Test drove about 5 other new 2015, used 2014's and no humming noise present.
Engineers made two trips over a five week period from Cali. They changed the alternator, which at first they thought was the problem, then they started looking at the fuel pump on the engine, then they swapped out a tranny from a loaner and the noise disappeared. They took out the loaner tranny and ordered a new tranny and installed it.

So I've been hearing this vibration rattle or buzzing noise... on rough roads and overpasses in southern California. I've uploaded a video clip. At 4 seconds I enter the overpass... and you can hear the buzzing noise from 6 seconds to 9 seconds, you might need to raise the volume.
Is this a normal noise from overpasses? My old cars didn't do this. Also I can't tell where it's coming from, maybe the rear upper area or who knows, could be the license plate for all I know.

Pump buzzing/humming noise varies depending upon whether accelerating, coasting, or decelerating. Sound is reminiscent of a dentist drilling my teeth. Is loudest while accelerating, hardly noticeable while coasting, and somewhat noisy decelerating. Had one suggestion that the FWD torque placed on the steering rack causes the different noises. Haven't been able to do anything to quiet it.

Was the warmest/hottest day of the year here so far and my black Prius had been parked in the sun all day. When I came to drive the car the a/c came on full power to lower the cabin temperature.
However, from the front of the car the two fans were making a really weird buzzing, humming noise (but were both spinning at high speed). Now I know a/c fans work flat out sometimes but I have never heard a noise like this before on a cars a/c. It almost sounded like the noise a jammed lawnmower makes, or some of the old lifts/elevators doors make. Almost an electrical buzzing noise of a solanoid but it was coming from the two fans.
Is this normal? Was it the fans or maybe the compressor or both? The a/c was working fine and was ice cold. When the cabin temperature reduced the noise reduced a disappeared with it. However, I did manage to repeat it by turning the a/c internal fan speed to full on a low temp setting.

I have a 2005 GLI tip-tronic. Bought used but the brakes are not that great. I know what the brakes should feel like since I did a swap for them on my GTI. I'm done brake pads /flush and cycled the abs pump to try an fix it. However on this car when I press the brakes I can here a humming/ buzzing noise. I'm assuming it the brake assist pump. Can this be eliminated or does it have to be replaced. The car stops just not all that great for it having the type of brakes it has.

Once the car reaches about 80 miles per hour, a buzzing/humming noise is emitted from the front of the car. I can't tell whether it's from the dashboard area or the footwell area, but it sounds like it's coming from below. There seems to be an exact speed where the noise stops and ends. The car does not shake or vibrate when the noise occurs.
The noise has happened twice. Not coincidentally, those were the only two time the car has been above 75 or so miles per hour within the past few weeks. I have looked on some forums for similar happenings, and I found the answer could be bad wheel bearings.
Other problems with the car include a very-vibraty engine between 1000 & 1500 RPM, a gurgling noise at low speeds/idle, and harsh shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear.
I've posted a video on YouTube of the car making the noise. It's a little hard to hear the noise in the video: [URL] .....

Faint humming/whistling noise coming from the drivings side of the motor. I can hear it when I put my head next to the drivers wheel well, and most certainly from that side of the motor when the hood is popped. It's not super loud, but it is noticeable. I know we have Direct injection motors, so I know that ticking is completely normal. Am I overlooking this and being paranoid? Car has 2100 miles on it. I don't know if it was there when brand new.

2011 F-250 Lariat with 38,000 miles. What is the cause or source of humming or buzzing noise from the under the hood that starts once I turn the truck off and close the door? Lasts from 3-4 minutes and only started noticing it in the last two thousand miles or so.

My 2002 outback tape deck, which I use primarily to listen to my phone via a cassette adaptor, has recently started making a very loud buzzing/humming noise. It does this with both my old and a new adaptor, as well as a standard audio tape.
I could try using a head cleaner on the tape deck, but my impression is that this isn't what typically would happen if the head needs cleaning, and I don't particular want to waste the time and money on a solution that I'm pretty sure isn't going to work, but I'm asking you all in case you know better than me (a real possibility). I just don't know if I should try that first, or if I should just go out and purchase a new car stereo that has either blue tooth, or an audio input plug so I can directly plug the phone in that way.
Also if I do go the way of replacing the stereo, is that generally a straightforward process? And would most replacement stereos be compatible with my vehicle, or do I need to be selective?

2015 Lexus IS 350 AWD.
Any time I've been driving for 10-15 minutes, my foot starts to feel like pins and needles because of a buzzing/vibration feel from the gas pedal. If someone were to drive in stop and go traffic for 5 minutes, they wouldn't notice it. However, it takes me 30 minutes on a highway to get to work and my foot is on the gas pedal the entire time. However, within several minutes of having my foot on the pedal, I get this sensation as described above and it gets so annoying that I almost don't want to have my foot on the gas pedal any more.
I did change my tires when I first got my car with Michelin tires but kept the stock rims. I did this so I can save the run flat tires for when I return my vehicle after the lease is done. I highly doubt its from the tires as there are no vibrations or other feelings in the steering wheel or seat. The car is otherwise smooth.
However, I feel like there are these buzzing vibrations in the foot well of this vehicle. What it could be? I know these gas pedals are metal but I find it hard to believe that would be the reason.

There is a buzzing vibration in my car over rough roads and it seems to occur only when it's warmer than about 50 degrees. I know that may seem odd but I've been paying attention to it for about 3 weeks. It only happens when the road is rough e.g. has a lot of cracks in it or has a lot of granite in it. The sound is like a bee. Now that it's colder here I notice that I can't hear it on the same roads when it's 50 degrees or lower. It's hard to pinpoint where the sound is coming from too. I know someone posted that a clip was loose from when they had tinting done but it seems my case would be different -- like something (nut and bolt?) is expanding and contracting. I'm not sure I want he dealership to take the car apart trying to find it. I can live with it but it is irritating as I often drive with the radio off and the car is silent and solid otherwise.

So I purchased my 2015 Lexus IS 350 AWD F-Sport back in October and experienced the following issues:
1. Brake squeal
- seems to occur when reversing out of a parking spot for example, so annoying and extremely loud, makes it sound like my brakes need changing
2. Bluetooth Radio
- there are times where my phone connects to the radio, plays music off my iPhone but then it sounds like the singer is slowly dying i.e.: the type of sound you used to hear when a walkman's batteries would be dying and needed changing. Happens sporadically
3. Gas tank lid on side of car won't close fully
- this happened just this week. I couldn't close my gas lid, no matter what I did. I managed to get it closed today after starting my car, wonder if its related at all to power/engine being on etc?
4. Buzzing in gas pedal resonates through foot
- this one is still driving me insane. Drive my car for 10-15 minutes on the highway and your foot feels like pins/needles from the buzzing sensation from the gas pedal.

The sunglass bin, in the overhead console that includes map lights and sunroof controls, has been buzzing since a couple of weeks after I bought the vehicle. I've taken it to the dealer several times, but they can never reproduce the issue. Today, I decided to take a closer look myself. I removed the bin and then drove for a bit; the buzzing noise continued, even with the bin door removed. Therefore, the buzzing must be coming from the plastic trim around the sunglass bin.

I have noticed a very mild cyclical humming noise at exactly 70 mph. Initially I thought it was the original Bridgestones but it continued after I had a new set of Michelin PSS mounted. The noise can only be heard if the car is on a smooth road and the radio and AC are off. I was wondering if it may be a wheel bearing or issue with the differential. Not sure. Its not a big deal but would like to get to the bottom of it if possible.
