I noticed that the backup camera on my IS is off centered. The distance shown between my car and the object behind it is fine. The sides are the problem!
When the 2 side lines on the screen suggest that I'm centered, I am actually closer to the left than the right side. I always turn my head when backing up anyway, but noticed this issue from day 1.
I recently had an issue of my car not starting, battery empty, so battery needed a charger to start the car, but now the Nav screen does not work at all. no backup camera, nothing. Radio still works fine.
So i am guessing its a fuse. I looked at the fuse box on the driver side, but can't seem to find the appropriate fuse.
I am curious; is it NOT suppose to beep when BSM has detected a car and you try to put blinker on? Mine just blinks the icon on the mirror, which is not nearly as noticeable as a audible sound. Also, what about the backup camera? Obviously, this car has sensors... but why don't the beep?

View 6 RepliesI recently bought aftermarket CCD camera kit from eBay for my 2014 Prius-II and got it installed by best-buy geek squad. But camera is not working due to power problem. According to best buy technician, Prius factory harness is not supplying power when car is put in reverse gear. I am not sure how to address this problem.

1. Backup camera sporadically does not come on in rear view mirror. Has already been replaced by Ford dealership.
2. Backup camera settings Visual Park Aid and Guidelines sporadically are set to 'off'
3. While truck is running, start seeing warnings/hearing chimes. Emergency Brake (which isn't set), Engine Overheating, Check 4X4, etc.
4. Truck will NOT start. Won't even attempt to turn over. When this happens, I have a radio but the LED screen is usually blank.
These sporadic issues are starting to seem to be related to the use of the emergency brake. Use of the emergency brake does not always immediately cause issues. Now that I feel like there is some kind of connection, I have been setting the e-brake when I park it (even if not needed) trying to force things to happen because Ford says if they can't make it happen they don't know where to look/what to fix. I can't always make things happen by using the e brake...but am noticing things happen more often when I DO use it and when things happen (like backup camera won't work) setting the brake will make it come on and then I can release it and back up. If it won't crank while the brake is set, releasing it will cause it to crank. The other morning when I had all the warnings/chimes going off setting the e-brake made everything go back to 'normal'.
Yesterday when I came back from lunch I parked and set the e brake (on level ground). Got in it to leave work, left e-brake set, stepped on regular brake and tried to crank....nothing but radio. Called dealership. They had me try putting the key in, pressing the regular brake, and try to move the shifter from Park to N. Shifter wouldn't move. Then asked to turn key to just get it 'active' and try again. Shifter wouldn't move. Asked me to turn the key to crank and try again. Same thing - shifter wouldn't move. Truck finally cranked after I released e brake. Came home, parked and set e brake and turned it off. It re-started right up with e brake still set.
BackUp Camera just stopped working! I got into my car today and unbeknownst to me, when I went to park my backup cam just completely went blank. After a few few hours and two short trips, I tried again. Same thing, nada on the screen.
I will post video of the issue, I'm going to Lexus in the am to see what they say. I saw some people have had issues with their music amp clipping. It has happened to me too, but only for a few seconds. I'm starting to think its an electrical issue. We'll see
Is there anyway to view the backup camera when the car is not in reverse? During driving, while stopped, etc.?
View 14 RepliesAll of the backup camera systems I have seen (which are in Chevys) have superimposed guidelines on the camera view to align the vehicle into the proper spot between the parking lot markings. I road tested a 2014 RX350 with Nav system (with backup camera) the other day and it did not have these guidelines. It just showed a nice rear view picture but offered no assistance in aiming or aligning the vehicle when backing into the parking spot.
Is it just possible the guidelines were turned off in the Nav menu somehow? On the other brand cars, the guidelines actually curve as the steering wheel is turned -so you can use those line to perfectly back into a space. It would be a big oversight IMO if Lexus didn't build this guidance feature into their backup system.
Just bought this 11 gs350 and car is great except that the reverse camera does not activate when the car is put in reverse. The side mirrors tilt down and the rear shade will lower when put in reverse but the screen just stays on the navigation screen no flicker or black screen.. What could be the problem?
View 7 RepliesNot sure what happened but my back up camera angle changed . It's picking up a bit of license plate and trunk now. Maybe wife slammed the trunk or something like that even though I said many times to be gentle with the trunk when closing. Is the camera adjustable?

I never noticed that the back up camera screen is purely black and white? or is there a setting somewhere to have the screen displayed in full color?
View 5 RepliesThe start up messages take way too long to clear, during which time they obscure the top section of the backup camera? I first get "phone connection successful..." followed by "transfer complete". Between the two messages, the top 15-20% of the backup camera screen is obscured. And it's really that top sliver of the screen that allows you to see more than 4 feet behind the car. I suppose I should just be more patient, but 10 seconds (I've timed it) is an eternity to wait after starting the car before you can start backing out.
So I just back out as if I don't have a camera using my mirrors and looking over my shoulder (which I did for my previous 30 years of driving before getting my GS so I guess it's not THAT big of a deal). I just find it really annoying to put a backup camera in the car and then obscure it with messages. It's interesting that Lexus feels it's important to tell me that my phone has been connected for a full 10 seconds. It would be more interesting to know if I was about to back up into something.
I just noticed today that my backup camera now shows part of the rear bumper and perhaps some of the chrome. There's also a strange, small, somewhat circular thing in the upper right corner of the screen. With my Matador Red exterior, I'm sure I would have noticed it before today on the backup camera.

What IS challenging me is where to mount the bugger, and where to pass the wire through to the trunk front the outside.
I dropped the trunk lid liner and did not see any grommets or pass-through spots for the cables. Do I need to drill a hole and silicone it, or is there something I am missing? If I have to drill, I guess I can do it under the chrome trim piece that holds the trunk lock keyway.
I have a Prius 2 (non nav) and would like to get a backup camera installed.
