My new GX460 has 120 miles now, and starting today, I heard noise when pushing the brake pedal. After get the parking lot, I turned off engine, and used hand to push the brake pedal, I can hear same noise, which like a air or gas squeeze out. Seems not big deal to me, just like to see do you GX460 owner have similar thing or I need to to dealer again.
View 8 RepliesSo towed the trailer down to a remote lake side spot over the weekend, pretty bad dirt road with lots of breaking bumps. Now pushing the break pedal creates a swooshing noise, and a vibration under the hood around the master cylinder, and the power steering whines a little bit. Took it two several mechanics and 2 think it's the pump, one thinks it's the hydro booster? I tried to bleed any air out by turning the wheel all the way maxed and pushed the brakes, did nut really work, but I did notice that when pressing the brake pedal and turning the steering wheel at the same time, it becomes extremely difficult too turn the wheel, makes me think it's the pump because there is not enough pressure to do both?

1. At high speeds 50+ mph the car downshifts quite often during rapid deceleration.
2. When coming to a near stop but not completely, and accelerate moderately to fast, lot of times there is a jerkiness when stepping on pedal initially. Is this normal or could it be something with the differential gearbox?
Just got a 2012 Lexus RX 350, but find out that the engine sound is quite "noisy" in the lower gear or when pushing the pedal. Is this just my car, or is common?
View 14 RepliesOur 2013 RX350 has a brake pedal that makes a pretty loud noise when it snaps back after you depress it a little harder and take your foot off. I complained to my SA, and they told me it's normal. It's not a big deal, but any other car I have owned, I have never noticed such a thing.

The dealer didnt know what it was. We took another GX off the new car lot and it did the same thing. It sounds like air releasing when you brake.

View 3 RepliesWe purchased the vehicle (2013 GX460) in September 2012, and had the car for 6 weeks before my wife was hit by an oncoming car who missed a stop sign. 8 weeks later and 23k of repairable damage to driver fender, front bumper, grille, hood, frame, and all components within those major areas, we received our vehicle.
The vehicle is wonderful and a joy to drive. When the brake pedal is depressed at low speeds (i.e., maneuvering in parking lot, entering driveway), there is a slight vibration to the pedal (similar to the vibration from a cell phone) and a noise that suggests an electric motor is working. The vibration is not like ABS; ABS is a profound vibration. The vibration we experience is very slight. The vibration is not apparent at highway speeds.
I do not recall either the vibration or the noise prior to the accident, and I suspect that this is a result from the accident or from the repairs. I have already brought the GX back to the dealer for this problem and they were quick to dismiss it, but I am really concerned that this is a real problem, and I want the dealer to re-assess.
My father purchased the 2015 GX460 this past January and the car currently has 4,500 miles. The first complementary oil change was completed in July. I feel that the brake of his GX460 is not sensitive enough, and I have to step on the brake very hard to feel the truck stopping. Does every GX460 owner feel the same way? I told my father about this, and he said I'm just not used to it. I'm thinking about taking his truck back to Lexus to check it out.
The dashboard so far doesn't indicate any ABS problem. By the way, I'm an owner of a 2014 IS350 F-Sports, and my 350's brakes are much better in my opinion. I'm not sure whether my experience of my 350, which has larger brake calipers for its size, has influenced me to draw such conclusion about the GX460 brakes.
Also, I notice that when I step on/release the GX460 pedals, I hear some noise that sounds like air. Did some research about this on the forum, and some of you have that too. I still don't understand this issue.
New owner of a GX 460. Noticed that when driving in the parking garage and turning around the corners, the wheels make screeching noise. the GX 460 is not a very big SUV but it feels like i'm driving a huge truck when trying to turn.
And also need confirmation that during normal driving, the central differential should be disconnected, which means a yellow icon showing on the dial, i.e., a yellow icon that shows a cross in between the four wheels.
Well my brake pedal is stuttering while pushing down. Have an abs light. Pulled codes. Left front sensor issue. Would this cause my pedal stutter? Removed #10 fuse in cabin and it stopped. So did the speedo. So thinking before I dive into a master cylinder or brake booster....replace sensor? So do I get the 4wd sensor or the 2wd?

Is it all the lexus rx350 had that noise? From the day I noticed hissing noise when I gentally press the brake pedal down and release it . And same noise can be heard when drive slowly and release gas pedal.
View 10 RepliesI recently traded my 2012 GS 350 for a 2015 GX 460. It's more my type of vehicle, and I am loving it except for a noise under the dashboard that seems to be somewhere behind the instrument cluster.
The noise is more of a ticking sound, and if I had to guess, it seems to be a wiring harness in that mesh-type wrapping that's moving around. I hear mostly over bumps in the road, but it also shifts when I accelerate from a stop. Unfortunately, the area where I'm hearing this is inaccessible without removing the dash.

I have 2011 GX 460 with 28000 miles. Just recently I started to notice the noise of the engine. You can only hear it only from a driver's seat, and it happens when you drop the pedal and engine goes into idling, at stop signs or stop lights etc. It comes as grinding noise and goes away when you accelerate. If the vehicle in parking or at full stop, you can hear this humming light grinding noise. I go outside, lay under the car and hear no noise. The dealer says it is a normal sound for this vehicle. I tried a few of them, and it is not the sound I hear.
View 14 RepliesA few days ago, while on a road trip from CA to CO, I noticed a loud squeak from the engine compartment every time I pushed the brake pedal, no matter how lightly, no matter what speed. It even happened when the car was off. I have almost 60K miles on my '05.
When I arrived in Denver, I dropped the car off at a Toyota dealer for troubleshooting. They isolated the fault to a bad ABS actuator. They had to overnight the part, and spent a day and a half installing it. Sounds like a major project!
The brake pedal felt much lower or closer to the floor than normal right after I leased this car.
when I'm driving, when I first press the brake pedal, it seems too low and somewhat vague, maybe squishy would be a better term. The stopping pressure always seems like it varies as the speed reduces and I come to a stop. If I pump the brakes once, the pedal comes up to what seems like normal to me, and the stopping also feels normal.
I just purchased a 2010 GX460 with 63000 miles. I saw a buildup of white residue under the oil cap the day of purchase but figured it was just moisture buildup from the car sitting on a car lot and not moving much. Well, after cleaning it off, it came back. I then thought maybe there is moisture in the oil so I took it to the local lexus dealer and had the oil changed. Well, its still coming back. The picture below is buildup from 2 days of driving, I cleaned it off monday afternoon and its wednesday afternoon. When checking the dipstick, I have almost completely clear oil as its new, then about 2 inches above the oil line to 6 inches above there is more of this white stuff. Also, does the lexus drivetrain warrant that lasts to 70k miles apply to 2nd owners?
