Checking my garage before going to bed last night and hear motorized humming coming from rear of the GX. I slide underneath and it seems to be coming from the spare tire area. I started the engine, then shut it off and the noise went away. The noise reminded me of the air suspension pump on my old Denali, but my Gx has the standard suspension.
View 2 RepliesI keep my 2015 RX 350 in the garage, and last night I noticed a humming or buzzing noise coming from it. I switched the ignition to accessory position and turned it off and the noise stopped. A search here turned up many discussions noting is is the gas evaporation leakage check valve and it is a normal function of the vehicle. My question, is this some sort of pump that is running and causing battery drain?

Second, I was thinking of getting adjustable rear control arms. I was going to get just one set, to adjust the camber to 0.0 instead of the -1 or so that they usually ride.
Third, I was also contemplating getting upgraded motor, trans, and dogbone mount. I was told it would cut down on transmission noise while letting off the gas pedal whence driving.
Not sure if my 13' rx350 is haunted. Went in the garage (car had been sitting for hrs) and heard this pound humming. Checked everything in the garage and kneel down near driver side /passenger door and could hear the humming coming from under the car. Checked to see if the radiator fan was running ..nope. This has occurred on 2 occasions that I know as it seems to be random so I am concerned if I take it to dealer I'll get the "can't duplicate"...
View 6 RepliesI have a 2002 suburban . I have a humming noise coming from the rear . It starts at 45mph and then goes away at 47mph. I hear it again between 60-65 mph then goes away . This is a faint sound . When pulling a trailer the sound is much more noticeable and more constant from 55-64 mph . When I let off the gas the sound is still there and fades as the truck slows. Am I dealing with a bad tire ( I plan to rotate them to see if that is the cause ) or a wheel or axle bearing ? To note I replaced the front wheel hub/bearings just about a year ago .

When I put the ignition key in and turn it without starting it completely I get a humming noise coming from the rear of the car. It lasts about 5 seconds and stops. When I start the car it begins again and continues all the time I'm driving. A friend suggested it might be the fuel pump.
View 1 RepliesThis is a first for me. Came in last night after my 140 mile commute and pulled into my garage and turned off my car ('16 IS350F). This morning(approx. 10 hrs.later) I went into the garage and heard a humming noise. I thought it was the refrigerator, but as I walked around the back of the car,it was obvious the noise was originating from the right rear. It sounded(to me) just like the fuel pump running,but that made no sense as it isn't on the "hot" battery bus...ie: it doesn't run until the accessory power is provided. I got in the car and cranked it....let it run for a couple of minutes and shut it down and the humming stopped.
View 5 RepliesThe last two mornings I have gone into my garage and have heard a faint "buzzing" noise that seems to be coming from the rear of 2013 RX350. Given the location of the noise, my first inclination was that it was possibly the fuel pump running a cycle for some reason. But when I heard it for the second day in a row, I figured it would be wise to ask if this is normal or something I should take up with the dealer?
View 3 Repliesok so i noticed recently that there was this humming noise coming the rear right passenger side everytime i accelerated up to 30mph. the noise would get louder the faster i go. i got it checked by a shop and they told me that it had something to do with my wheel bearing. my car is lowered on coil covers and I have negative camber on my wheels. Why its making this humming noise or if its because i never got my alignments. I am thinking of throwing my stock suspension back in and letting the dealership deal with it since my car is still under warranty.

After 185 miles on the vehicle, I reported the problem to Lexus and the Tech that test drove with me said I was hearing things. Apparently there was a humming noise coming from the transmission.
The noise became evident and consistent, took it back in again, the Tech says its normal and DI engines make a lot of noise.
After six months and 2700 miles the noise became annoying, Tech said they will look into it and confirmed it is unusual. Test drove about 5 other new 2015, used 2014's and no humming noise present.
Engineers made two trips over a five week period from Cali. They changed the alternator, which at first they thought was the problem, then they started looking at the fuel pump on the engine, then they swapped out a tranny from a loaner and the noise disappeared. They took out the loaner tranny and ordered a new tranny and installed it.
I have a 2006 lexus es 330 that just turned over 90,000 miles. My dad and I have done the regular maintenance on it so far but this weekend after a 3 hour drive, I turned the car back on and a loud whirring/humming/whining noise was coming from the engine. It gets slightly louder with acceleration, but I can barely hear it once I've picked up speed (but it's still there.) It still happens when I am in neutral. It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side of the engine. Close to the power steering pump area, but the power steering fluid is full (although it is a very dark/black color and has a slight smell...not sure if this is normal.) I'm not having any trouble or hesitation while steering. The rack is operating smoothly and it is not leaking. I plan on taking it into the shop but wanted to go in educated.

View 6 RepliesRecently purchased a 2002 sc430 . After an hour of driving I began to hear a buzzing or humming coming from the backseat on the passenger side . Sounds almost like a fan. Car drives just fine but the buzzing is driving me nuts.
View 3 RepliesWe have a 2010 RX350. It makes a noise at a strange time. While in the garage with the engine off sometimes it makes a humming noise. The noise can last up to five minutes. It sounds like it could be coming from the back but not positive. The car has not been operated for several hours when the noise occurs. If I start the engine and immediately cut it off the noise goes away. I know that it will never do this if I take it to the Lexus dealership.
View 3 RepliesFaint humming/whistling noise coming from the drivings side of the motor. I can hear it when I put my head next to the drivers wheel well, and most certainly from that side of the motor when the hood is popped. It's not super loud, but it is noticeable. I know we have Direct injection motors, so I know that ticking is completely normal. Am I overlooking this and being paranoid? Car has 2100 miles on it. I don't know if it was there when brand new.
View 1 RepliesI have 2011 GX 460 with 28000 miles. Just recently I started to notice the noise of the engine. You can only hear it only from a driver's seat, and it happens when you drop the pedal and engine goes into idling, at stop signs or stop lights etc. It comes as grinding noise and goes away when you accelerate. If the vehicle in parking or at full stop, you can hear this humming light grinding noise. I go outside, lay under the car and hear no noise. The dealer says it is a normal sound for this vehicle. I tried a few of them, and it is not the sound I hear.
View 14 RepliesIt is as an electronic whistle/humming. The sound is coming from the rear of the van, and no, not when it's moving, even though it still does it when moving. The only thing I can think of would be the fuel pump. Because It's loudest just before the rear tires, not after them. My fiancee has heard it twice now, when she first heard it, I didn't, but this last time when I heard it, I also noticed that the gas gauge was reading just below 1/8 of a tank.
Would like to know if it's the fuel pump or something else I'm no thinking of. And if it means I have to replace the pump.
Over the past year I have been hearing a noise coming from the rear of the car. It seems to happen when the car is running and almost sounds like the fuel pump priming itself, but it happens when the car is running. So I don't think it would be that.
It doesn't happen all the time, it might but I miss it due to the loud levels I tend to listen to the stereo at.
My other thought is that it might be from the one of the top motors to raise and lower the roof.
I bout a 2010 AWD LS460 in July and immediately noticed noises coming from the rear and front. The rear was a loud thud going over certain bumps and the front is making rattling noises. I lowered the windows and went down a rather bumpy block and the car sound like the bottom is falling out. I took it to the dealer and they had it for 2 and 1/2 weeks waiting on the rear air shocks to come in. They gave it back to me and did not address the front. Now the service manager is going away for two weeks and wants me to come back if I still feel the need to have the from done. The master tech stated the front left suspension needs replacing. I feel they are trying to drag this out so they dont have to pay for the repairs. The car has 80K and was bought from Bay Ridge Lexus and is not under CPO.
View 13 RepliesIt is gone at 120K. Thought it could be the tire, so rotated but noise still comes from driver side rear. Car is a daily driver but we do not live in snow belt, so cannot blame it on salt.
View 8 RepliesSo today while driving my '98 Mercury Grand Marquis home I noticed a leak was coming from behind the rear right tire.. Or I'm guessing it's a leak ? But it's kinda like a grease substance and it sure does smell bad! It's all over the backside of the tire and muffler (probably why it smells).
While driving it there is a low humming sound? Best way I know how to describe it and if I go over 60mph it gets increasingly louder.. After looking up some forums online I came across that it could be a possible wheel bearing or maybe a bad axle problem?
