So I have a hissing sound (kind of what the vacuum cleaner makes when air path is obstructed with debris) coming from passenger side foot area. The easiest way to hear it is to turn on HVAC and put the fan on the lowest setting so the sound of the fan does not interfere with the noise.

The tweeter and the speaker in my passenger side front door have this awful hissing sound coming from them. The sound gets louder and quieter with driving. Could it be a lose connection at the headunit or would it be to each speaker? The speakers are stock by the way.
View 3 RepliesMy 05 Supercrew 4X4 with 172k miles started making a horrible noise these last couple days. It sounds like its coming from the front passenger side area. The best I can describe is that it sounds like an electric tool motor with bad bearings. I'll be driving along at 45mph or above and every now and then I'll hear a really bad bearing squeal. It's bad enough that I can feel the extra friction caused by the squeal start to slow my truck down. It's vehicle speed related. I know what a bad wheel bearing sounds like and this is nothing like that. It's gotten bad enough I'm nervous to drive anywhere.
View 4 RepliesI have an old 98 Lesabre, and it runs and drives great. When I first got it I had to do the Vacuum line mod on the programmer to get the HVAC to blow out the face vents. That was the best $1.60 and 30 min I spent on a car
That mod still works and was done about 1.5 years ago, the ENTIRE time i have owned the car the temp blinks when I start the car, but the HVAC has always worked fine so I paid no attention to it. That is until 3 weeks ago when I had to replace my intake manifold. I disconnected the battery without turning the system to "off". I have been doing a bunch of reading online, and it seems I may have thrown the system's sync off by doing this.
Right now my problem is this, colder air coming from the pass side then the driver’s side. When I start the car it will seem synched for a few seconds, then it will start blinking and both vents will go FULL COLD, eventually it brings the temp back up the d-side gets hotter than the p-side. I have done the following:
- gone through AT LEAST 50 on/off cycles
- Removed the 9c fuse to try to reset
- Pulled down the glove box door and watched both the upper and lower blend doors go through there whole range of movement (which they do)
- Tried to re-sync by pushing the temp full hot, then full cold a few times in a row.
Besides getting this scanned by a tech 2, which is my last resort, is there anything else I can do?
Every time I am pressing the brake pedal, I hear a distinct clicking sound coming from passenger front Brake Caliper Area.
I have applied brake grease (green) to the pad shim.
I have replaced the spring sets on each front caliper.

On our 2016, it's got this weird scratching sound.. It is so faint, but definitely noticeable. It SOUNDS like it's coming from the driver wheel area; or perhaps under driver dash/footwell. I've looked at the brake rotor/suspension and everything looks good.
It isn't solid either; it'll do it SOMETIMES with the brakes, on starts/stops, and SOMETIMES it does it going over a speed bump... It literally sounds like someone scratching their finger across the rough part of the dash...
I've been noticing "Hissing Noise" coming from the rear passenger side (rear right hand side) of my 2011 Prius for a few days now. It sounds like the hissing noise is coming from the vent that's located on that side. Not sure what that does, but the hissing noise is usually present when I'm driving at 10MPH or up and it's gone when I'm less than 10MPH or at a complete stop. I have about 32K miles on the car.
View 7 RepliesMine is 2010 gen 3 Prius. I bought it brand new and about 6,500 miles. From the beginning, I sometimes hear a grinding and rattling sound coming from the right passenger side. It is not from plastics. It is mechanical sound. But the problem is it does not happen all the time. So we were hesitant to go to dealer because they will never find it. But it got more frequent with cold weather.
Now, it does make rasping buzzing sound like a loose fan usually after I start a car in the morning and the heater is kicked in. I don't think it has something to do with fan because if I just run it itself in high speed, you cannot hear it. It is just some bad combination that makes this sound that makes you go crazy.
We are afraid that something big will happen after the warranty is over but as we expected the dealer said they do not hear the sound. The sound comes out in low accelerating and disappears in high accelerating. Now I really regret having bought Hybrid. It looks like the dealershop has no clue where to look at. I think the sound gets worse with the cold weather.
So there is a loud humming sound as I would describe, coming from the passenger side glove box when I turn my fan to run at high...
View 8 RepliesOk just so I know what the dealer may do to fix it....I have a weird hissing sound coming from the driver side like a vacuum hose is off or something...but when I apply the brakes it goes away...I let go and it comes back...when I shut the car off as well it stays hissing until I hit the brakes again or it just quiets down... What this may be?
View 1 RepliesI replaced my rear brake pads this weekend. I used oem pads and used the shims with CRC lubricant. I also compressed the brake calipers and made room for the new pads. I also tried to take off one of the rotors but it would not come off even with putting screws in the rotor.
Everything seemed fine and brakes were strong but when I went for a test drove there is a clicking sound at low to medium speeds come from the rear passenger side. I checked the retainer pins and they are on correctly.
What the problem may be? I would like to spin the wheel but the parking brake is on. Is it okay to take off the parking brake while jacked up if I block the wheels??
All of a sudden, I started hearing a croaking sound (just like a tiny frog's!) from somewhere on the passenger side front panel. Took out the items in the glove box, but the sound does not go away and drives me nuts...
View 4 Replies2005 6.0l PSD. Driving flat road pulling 8K trailer. Not pushing it at all. Sudden air hissing sound on (seems like) passenger side of truck. Black smoke pouring from tailpipe. Check intercooler pipe and is ok. Can't see anything that is loose. Only 8 miles to the campground so limp down the road at 30 MPH which is all it will do. Hissing sound is remarkable predictable in that it is repetitive every 5 seconds or so. Lasts for maybe 2 seconds then stops the repeats.
There is no turbo boost either on the dash gauge or the Scan II gauge. Shutting the engine down, there is no turbo wind down. Scan II show no codes. Check everything I can reach and find nothing extraordinary. Tried starting a driving it today and had boost for a minute only then nothing. Blowing white smoke too. Check the oil and it is oil. Check the radiator fluid and it is oil free. Running low on fuel and wonder if I have a water in the fuel problem. However, don't think that should effect the non functioning turbo...
I'm hearing something that sounds like a squeaky hamster wheel sound from the front passenger footwell area. It often sounds like there's a trickling sound as well. What's wrong - is this normal? (Its fairly loud at times). It seems to correlate with cold weather.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2004 camry xle with a V6 motor and it had 38k miles on it. Recently I'm starting to hear a weird sound coming from the front passenger dash area during the initial move off. It will happened when I drive the car at a speed of 5-10 mph after it has been stationary for at least 4 hrs. The sound itself sounds like something is moving and follow by at "clunk" sound, indicating that it has seated properly. All this last for maybe 1-2 sec during the initial move off and did not return for the rest of the drive. This weird sound become slightly louder on colder temperature. The car runs well and shifts well.
I had my tranny flushed by a toyota dealership, rack and pinion replaced and passenger side drive shaft replaced, before this weird sound started.
2012 Golf 2.5L, 2 months old, ~6,000km
There's a pronounced rattling sound coming from the front passenger area (I think), and you can hear it when the radio is playing. I booked an appointment at the local dealership, but the appointment was just cancelled because an "interior technician" is not available on weekends. Not only that, they said I may have to leave the vehicle at the dealership overnight, and that no courtesy car would be provided. Personally, I think that's complete BS - you don't need a P.Eng to diagnose a rattle, and what dealership doesn't have a courtesy car?
So, I'm curious to know if others have experienced anything similar, and if they've had any luck correcting interior rattles. I previously had a minor clicking sound in the overhead console area (bluetooth, lights, etc.), but that was quickly fixed at a different dealership.
So was driving home from work today and was fairly close to home waiting at a light. Light turns green and I start to move forward (going up a moderate hill). I shift into 2nd and all of the sudden I hear a loud, metallic "rat-tat-tat" coming from somewhere around the passenger side front area of the car. Almost like a snare drum but more metallic sounding. Then this is followed by what sounds like a second or two of metal-on-metal type grinding noise. Don't feel much of anything, maybe a slight shudder. Then it seemed fine.
I was only about two blocks from home and it was driving okay so I continued on home. No warning indicators of any kind on the dash. When I got home I looked in the engine compartment and under the car for any signs of something obvious being broken. Nothing. I haven't driven the car since but I'm worried about what might transpire in the morning. It's even possible that it was one of the cars next to me and I was hearing the sound from their coming nightmare echoing off of the buildings to my right. But, it seemed like it was coming from my car, and that metallic popping sound has me very nervous. But as I said I drove it a few blocks after this and it seemed fine.
Having issue with body squeaking ? . I am getting a squeaking sound coming from around the passenger rear door /body area of my 2010 Passat. Car has 10K miles and has been doing this since around 6K miles. Not noticeable unless going over uneven pavement or railroad tracks but it is annoying. Never had any body squeaks from a new car lite this. Have not been to the dealer with this issue yet.
View 6 RepliesNoisy Fuel Pump ??? At least that's what I think it is. Pretty prominent whirring going on, sounds like it's coming from the rear passenger area. Dealer listened to it, agreed something was up. No immediate answer, will have to schedule service.
View 4 RepliesThere is a knocking sound in the rear passenger side area. Cannot diagnose the cause, what it could be. I checked the bushings for the anti sway Bar but that was not it.
