I was poking around the center console and noticed that there seems to be a pretty big gap difference where the console meets the dashboard than I would expect on a Lexus:
So how does it look on yours? Are yours even on both sides?
Upgrade the single led light that shines down on the center console?
I would like it to be brighter to make it easier to see the drink holder while driving at night.
I took this picture from the rear seat while leaning over the front seats. The two white arrows indicate where our front seats are rubbing the center console while we are seated. The rubbing makes a noise and will eventually leave a wear mark on the leather, the console or both. Any way to quiet the noise and to cushion the contact between the leather and the center console?
I'm looking for a product that is safe for leather that will decrease friction in this area so that the rubbing won't cause noise or leave wear marks on the leather. I'm only interested in treating the area of the seat that contacts the console so as not to change the overall appearance of the leather. Alternatively, I could treat the center console with a product that will make it more slippery.
Today at some point I noticed that the joystick does not move the cursor and does not have that normal stiffness. At the same time, none of the center console buttons were responding to pressing. However, the GPS was tracking the movement on the map. After turning off the engine and starting again, all returned to work normally. The Lexus dealership checked it and did not find any issue.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2004 Yaris 4 door auto and when driving smoke started to come from the dash around the centre speedo console, and by the windscreen then from all around dash. Had to stop left it 15 mins started ok no more smoke but smells still. Its been 2 days since it happened and been ok. All electrics seem to work ok. It was not from engine bay the car has only done 15 000 miles.

I've tried searching the internet looking for any advice but I haven't come across anything for a 2009 Toyota corolla. I understand that some cars need to have the light bulbs soldered and some can you can change out a colored film. Which of these options applies to my car? If it's the light bulb change then what size and how many. Also, how to take out the instrumental cluster.

View 13 RepliesSince I've had this car I randomly get a buzzing which I thought was coming from the centre console. It sometimes lasts 2 minutes, sometimes 15. Hunted it down last night and it sounds to be coming from the passenger side foot well. The only electrical component I can see up under there is whatever is in the photo.
View 9 RepliesI just bought a used 2012 Elantra GLS with 24K miles. I tested almost every possible function of the car before I bought it however I didn't try out the 2 power outlets expecting them to both work on a car with only 24k miles.
Anyway, the center console outlet doesn't work. I'd like to check the fuse box first thing in the morning. I work night shift so I won't be able to get to it til then. Any other things I should look for?
Through looking at pictures, Ive noticed RX's with different center console positions.
Some are more aft towards the Instrument console and some are more back towards the rear seats.
I can definitely go ahead with all the screws and figure how to slide it back but just making sure if there was a quick few screws to adjust and also if I CAN adjust.
How to replace this light? I haven't found any threads on this as it seems like it's easily overlooked. The light bulb is located at the back of the center console box that lights up when opened. It's very dim and I have a few LEDs hanging around I'd like to replace it with.
View 5 RepliesI took apart the whole center console and then got to the harness which then I cut the speed sensor and then grounded the park brake bothe wires are violet/purple on the #59 harness which is the biggest harness on the back of the nav unit. It was working and everything was fine, I was ready to run wires for the double pole switch and then the DVD had no sound so then I tried several things and still didn't kick in so then I left it that way and waited till the morning and its like the DVD has a back up speed sensor that kicked in so when you come to a complete stop it works.
I know of another speed sensor 2 but that controls the nav so we dont mess with that wire.
Taking apart the car was easy 4 screws and 1.5million clips and snaps.
IS350 fsport. I have had the car for two weeks already and these sounds are driving me crazy. Its definitely coming from the center console area, I can even move it a bit and its makes the squeak sound. On bumps something like a little plastic pebble feels like it rattles. I went to lexus and they couldn't really do anything about it. They said its normal when two plastics come together to squeak.

They also damaged the driver's side door, along the edge there are 8 little chips, one of them larger and very noticeable. They touched them up but the one is still visible. Very disappointing, this was my first tune-up.
Anyway I'm wondering, any product I can use to keep it from tearing more, or where I might look for a replacement. It's where the button is but the outer part is also tearing. I know a replacement won't be an exact match.. and I gave it a good look as I was getting out of the car today and noticed it seems to be yellowing.
This is why I never had a light interior. There are also stains - that of course weren't noticeable at first - on the drivers side seat, from the dye in blue jeans. I did manage to get most of it off w/mild soap and water.
It's a 2008 ES 350 UL.
My 2010 II has two power sockets, one under the radio, and another inside the center console. The center console one does not work, whereas the other one does. I checked both the fuses, and even swapped the two fuses. I also checked several other fuses just to be sure. No fuses are blown and nothing changes by swapping the 2 power port fuses.
View 8 RepliesOne of the brackets that connects the tray inside the center console is broken. I wanted to order the part but I only see the inside tray available to buy, not the brackets. I was wondering if I ordered the tray, will the brackets come with it? I don't want to order the tray and then it turns out no brackets, then I'll be stuck with an extra tray. The closest part number I see on Sewell is Part # 58801E.
