I can't find the procedure to disable the seatbelt chime for my 2012 GX460. I did read and perform the procedure listed for other Lexus vehicles, but this doesn't seem to be the right method... How to do this?
View 4 RepliesI just bought my wife a 13' RX 350 F-Sport and if you don't put on your seatbelt right away the car goes nuts. Is there any way to disable the seatbelt chime in the new RX? I have an 08' IS and i was able to turn the chime off by myself.
View 3 RepliesI just bought a ceritifed pre-owned 2010 RX 450h. I love it, but a couple of questions as I get to know the car.
1) The rain sensor seems to not work. I set the wipers to what on another car would be "intermittent" but the wipers never come on. Am I missing something, am I a dummy? Or should I just get the dealer to replace the sensor?
2) Any way to turn off the seatbelt warning chime?
I'm in the habit of starting the car andthen putting on my seat belt while it is warming up.So I used the Carista OBD2 app to disable the seat belt chime on my 2015 Camry. This is supposed to be the same as doing it from Techstream, I believe.But the ding still sounds several times once I turn the key. The seat belt warning light also flashes in synch with the dings.I confirmed the settings:
Seat belt warning ding (driver)
ENABLED / *DISABLED*
Seat belt warning ding (front passenger)
ENABLED / *DISABLED*
2012 Camry SE I4, non-entune, no roof, Kentucky built in spring '12.
Tonight on the way home, driving in light traffic, roughly 45-50mph seatbelt light came on and began to chime. I was wearing my seatbelt at the time, and had nothing in the passenger seat. When approaching a stoplight, the light went out and the chime stopped upon braking. I am going to take it in tomorrow to have it checked, but am assuming the dealer will find nothing. I looked under the dr. seat and there wasn't anything that could have pulled on the wiring.
So again, briefly:
During light traffic with seat belt buckled properly, seat belt light illuminates and chime starts. Upon braking for stop light the seatbelt light went out and chime stopped.
This is kind of a big deal to me because this is my wife's primary vehicle and the airbag will not work with the seatbelt light illuminated.
This morning, when I started the GX460, there for the first time, is a high pitched buzz. Cannot determine where is coming from and there are no trouble lights showing.

We religiously wear seat belts on the road. BUT, on my 4WD Tacoma, driving around a farm they are not needed. Can you simply unplug the underseat sensor to defeat the annoying chime and yet not disable the airbag system?

How do I turn of the NAV Warning accept and the seat belt chime? I don't have easy access to a VAG-COM?? Will the dealer do it for me?
I called the only Toyata dealership nearby repeatedly and asked them if they would disable the seatbelt chime, as per the instructions in my car's manual, but they denied knowledge about this.
This morning I decided to cut the two wires to my seatbelt and wrap them with electrical tape. This solved the problem with the seatbelt chime but introduced another problem: I now have an icon on my display that looks like a driver with an airbag, which I assume means that my airbag has been disabled. How can I manually turn the airbag back on?
Is there a way to turn off the overzealous seatbelt alarm? It chimes constantly when the seatbelt isn't on, even when the car is in park. Sometimes I unbuckle my seatbelt to get my crap together before I get out of the car, but its hot here so I like to leave the AC running while get set. I know some cars have some obscure series of button presses to turn this off. Also is there a way to stop the horn from honking when I press the lock button on the remote?

View 19 RepliesI just purchased a 2010 GX460 with 63000 miles. I saw a buildup of white residue under the oil cap the day of purchase but figured it was just moisture buildup from the car sitting on a car lot and not moving much. Well, after cleaning it off, it came back. I then thought maybe there is moisture in the oil so I took it to the local lexus dealer and had the oil changed. Well, its still coming back. The picture below is buildup from 2 days of driving, I cleaned it off monday afternoon and its wednesday afternoon. When checking the dipstick, I have almost completely clear oil as its new, then about 2 inches above the oil line to 6 inches above there is more of this white stuff. Also, does the lexus drivetrain warrant that lasts to 70k miles apply to 2nd owners?
