My 2013 has a rattle in the center armrest. the driver's side of the split that slides forward has worked a bit loose. I guess from leaning my elbow on there. I can not find any screws to tighten, etc. anywhere and hate to travel 60 miles each way to the dealer. I have only about 7500 miles on it so the 10,000 mile dealer trip is a few months away.

It took a long time to figure it out where this rattle was coming from, when I did i was on my road trip to Smokey Mountains, i couldn't wait to get to the dealer and just solved it myself.
Just extend the arm rest and raise it you will find a rectangle shaped plastic which moves back and forth, remove this plastic. Be careful when pulling it out, or you might end up like i did (check pic), i don't intend to put the plastic back. Center arm rest raised and extended out.

I have a 2013 GS, RWD. 33k miles. This is my third Lexus. Wife owns an 05 GX that we will drive till it dies. Had a 2010 RX also. The problem I'm about to describe occurred on the RX and now this GS which makes me crazy. The bottom line is that I have an intermittent noise that comes from the center of my dash. It sounds like someone is clicking a PC mouse very, very fast. It sounds like it is coming from behind the navigation. I've had it to the dealer multiple times and gone all the way to corporate.
The problem is that I have a Murphy's Law situation in that it doesn't occur on demand. I've even sent them a video of the noise but since they don't hear it themselves they won't touch my dash to fix it. Since it had this same noise now on two different vehicles I know it is a manufacturer problem and not just one vehicle. Both cars have navigation.
I am 3 weeks into my 2014 ES300h, my first Lexus and first hybrid. I am hearing this odd rattling noise from the center console, it's almost like two wires touching. The noise comes mainly at low speeds and mostly what it seems like on the hybrid train.
I took it to the dealer who is saying they hear no noise or normal hybrid noise. Since this car is supposed to have a super quite cabin I am wondering if I am being taken for a ride (figuratively) .
And in worse condition after having taken it in for routine maintenance. They also damaged the driver's side door, along the edge there are 8 little chips, one of them larger and very noticeable. They touched them up but the one is still visible. Very disappointing, this was my first tune-up.
Anyway I'm wondering, any product I can use to keep it from tearing more, or where I might look for a replacement. It's where the button is but the outer part is also tearing. I know a replacement won't be an exact match.. and I gave it a good look as I was getting out of the car today and noticed it seems to be yellowing.
This is why I never had a light interior. There are also stains - that of course weren't noticeable at first - on the drivers side seat, from the dye in blue jeans. I did manage to get most of it off w/mild soap and water.
It's a 2008 ES 350 UL.
I've got a case of dash rattle. I hit a small bump and I hear a small but plasticky rattle sound from (I think) the center of my plasticky dash. IT BUGS ME!
I wonder how I'd be letting the dealer tear apart my dash. The car has been on the road a full 2 months... First new car with dash rattle.
The sliding armrest/storage bin cover in my 2013 RX sticks. When I'm driving and try to move it forward it won't budge unless I hit the back of it (which is hard to do when keeping one hand on the steering wheel!). When I've dropped by the dealer (3 hours from my home), of course, it doesn't stick. But when I'm back on the highway, it sticks.
View 11 RepliesMy Mom purchased a new 2011 Lexus RX350 last spring. The dealer installed a remote starter at the time of purchase (we live in Alaska). We've had a continuing problem with the battery going dead if the car has not been driven for a period of time (like 4 days). When she does drive it, it is for short trips (3 miles round trip to work). The original battery was replaced in fall with a heavy duty one, but the problem continues. Its been to the Lexus dealer (130 miles away) several times, but they claim everything is within the tolerances and "there is no problem".
They did note that the remote starter was drawing more than it was suppose to and reinstalled it. Their finding was that she was not driving it enough and recommended a battery tender, which has been installed. That works as long as she plugs it in daily. However, if a plug in is not available (like at the airport, hospital or if she is visiting) the battery goes dead after 4 days (even after it has been driven 100 miles).
Suspension noise I am getting from my 2011 MD.
This noise occurs only over small shock type bumps IE, train tracks that are not smooth, those reflectors in the road, and the metal plates over construction projects. Any bump that forces the suspension over a small vertical or near vertical drop or rise of about one inch.
In my driveway I have a storm grate about an inch lower than the surrounding pavement and it rattles over this every day. Now the fun part.
The noise is ONLY when I hit such a bump with the right side of the car. The left side rolls over the same bumps smoothly and quietly.
This noise is also only present over the small type bumps discussed earlier. My dealer has a rough road that they use to test suspension noises and the car rolls down it silently. The problem also doesn't manifest itself over speed bumps.
The noise is still present while applying the brakes on which makes me doubt its a caliper float issue.
The strut brace and lower control arm/bushings on the right side have been replaced by the dealer under warranty but they can not seem to get to the root of this problem as both these replacements have had no effect.
From inside the car it is very difficult to pinpoint where the noise is coming from but it almost seems like the center of from suspension.
Is there is a TSB for a squeaky center console and arm rest ....

It has been very hot lately. I am noticing when my car has been sitting out in the sun that the center arm rest has a wet/oily coating over it after a few hours. its not really all that sticky though. I have an older car that the steering wheel does that but becomes sticky. None of the other interior plastic does this. it happened again saturday and my thermometer was showing the interior at 139 degrees F. When you get in and the temp comes down from the a/c it dries out and looks normal. Its 2013 camry le with the light brown interior. i don't remember this happening last summer though.

Its definitely coming from the center console area, I can even move it a bit and its makes the squeak sound. On bumps something like a little plastic pebble feels like it rattles. I went to lexus and they couldn't really do anything about it. They said its normal when two plastics come together to squeak.
View 14 RepliesHave an '07 with 117k miles so well out of warranty. There is a very pronounced metallic rattle coming from the rear of the cabin when going over moderate sized bumps or listening to audio at moderate levels. Did some troubleshooting and have narrowed the noise down to somewhere above the rear center of the headliner. If I press slightly upwards on the headliner at this location, the noise stops.
View 1 RepliesHas rattle that sounds like it is coming from the centre of the dash? It sounds like a piece of tin sheet metal is rattling faintly. I wouldn't think a fuel line rattle would sounds like that, but maybe I am incorrect? Putting pressure on the dash with your hand doesn't seem to make it stop.
We also get the creek in the l/h side that I had assumed prior that it was from the door seal when the body flexes.
So I have some road resurfacing happening near my home which I've been driving through recently. One thing that I've begun hearing is a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the center speaker area on my dash. I have the ML system so not sure if the standard audio package has this speaker. I'm not 100% that it coming from the speaker but it's somewhere towards the center of my dash.

View 5 RepliesI have a new 2015 F350 XLT. For the life of me I cannot open the lid on the center arm rest. I have read the manual, and I can't open the lid. This is my 5th Super Duty with the last being a 2010. So you would think this would be a no brainer. I can pull on the handle and its not opening. Pry the damn thing open? Is there a hidden lock? Hidden treasure?

On your 2011-13 Elantra if your driving below 60 on backroads and the road slightly turns to the left or right when you get back to a straightaway does the wheel automatically center itself or will it stay turned in the direction you just slightly turned? My wheel stays turned in the direction of the turn and I have to manually move it back to go straight. I have a 2013 Elantra GLS Auto.

How to remove the pad on the right side of the center console ? Have a very irritating squeak that has begun in the area. Appears to be the leather like materiel rubbing on the plastic upper part of the console.
View 5 RepliesI purchased a CPO 2013 Lexus ES 300H with 31K about 3 months ago. While I really like the car and appreciate all the thought and innovation Lexus has put into the design, the electric power steering system has been casing me concern.
I can't seem to keep the car tracking straight. Since the steering has no defined center point, I find that I constantly have to keep adjusting the steering 1 degree left and 1 degree right to keep the car tracking straight. These 1 degree corrections tend to stick in place and have no motivation to return to center. This becomes quite exhausting on any drive over 30 minutes.
I've had the car into Lexus twice and they found that the alignment was slightly out of spec and performed a 4-wheel alignment and told me what I was experiencing was a characteristic of electric power steering. I continued to experience the same issue. Next the steering torque sensor was reset. Still, same result.
