Dec 17, 2011
I am looking at this GX and wonder what this switch is for ? It is located left of the gearbox.

View 3 RepliesThis problem began a short while ago. It started with the keyfob not locking the left (driver) door from the outside and progressed into not locking the left door with the inside automatic switch. Now the left back door will no longer lock with the either device. I think I have narrowed it down to the switch or the door solenoid, but I am lost on the possible problem in all honesty.
View 7 RepliesAfter a morning of errands, my wife parked our 03 GX in the driveway. When I went out to start it, the ignition switch locked up. Would not budge! I finally had to have it towed to the dealer.
View 9 RepliesJust purchased a 2007 RX350 w/front wheel drive. We just had our first snow storm in Boston. The manual says to use the ECT SNOW switch when it's slippery. Around here, it's slippery a LOT! What exactly does that switch do? Should I leave it on the majority of the time will my mileage get worse?
Is it acting in effect, like 4-wheel drive?
I have an 04 RX330. As I can tell by searching this forum, the brake light switch going out is a common problem. Lexus did a recall in 04 for this, so they know it's an issue. My vehicle was purchased new by a family member and it had the switch replaced under the recall in 05 by the selling dealer.
I got the car in 13 and soon the switch had to be replaced again at around 50k miles. This week the dashboard lit up again with all of the "idiot lights" and I knew what it was. Took it to the same dealer as the 2nd repair and they fixed it at no charge parts or labor. This is fine of course, but the part #s on the receipts from repair 2 and 3 match so my expectations aren't very high. I have 69k miles.
Looking for the low pressure switch, (back towards fire wall, black cap on it passenger side) I think I found it, but when I hook up the AC pro that gauge doesn't register any psi, when I hooked up same AC pro to our Acura TL the gauge registered and I was a little down so I added some In.
So any tips on what's up? Wife's car blows cold air just wanted to see where it's at and if I need to check for leaks or just add some 134a ...
I put my LS 430 key in my RX330 yesterday, I realized as soon as the ignition would not turn. I put the RX key in, and ignition will not turn. I'm assuming that the pins may be locked so I tried a few options.
- I wiggled the key.
- I lubricated the lock.
- I tried rocking the car while trying to turn the ignition.
- I tapped the ignition lightly with a screw driver and hammer, but no luck.
- I turn the steering wheel while turning ignition to make sure its not locked.
I really don't want to get the car towed to the stealer/dealer.
I mistakenly put the wrong lexus key in my 2004 RX ignition switch. It would not turn on the ignition. I then put in the right key and it also would not turn on. Is there a way to reset the ignition (hoping it is just a theft prevention), or do I need to replace the ignition switch??
View 13 RepliesI was driving today and noticed the ride was a harsh and bumpy. I stopped the car and try raising the car by pressing the up arrow on the height control switch, however, nothing happened.
The height control indicator is on "N" and it does not change when I press the height control switch either "UP" or "DOWN".
I found a few cases online where people stated that the "Height Control Button Off" button would flash. I have no flashing or warning lights in my dashboard.
I have read that cleaning or replacing the switch that adjusts the outside rear view mirror's will get rid of the erratic operation of these. Mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. How do I get the switch out of that panel? It doesn't look like the panel will pop out from the front.
View 2 RepliesTried to open the rear hatch with the key. No lights flashing. No beep.... Dead.
Tried to open it with the switch under the steering wheel. No lights flashing. No beep.... Dead.
I have an appointment at Lexus but this sounds like warranty stuff to me -- sudden death of rear hatch? Lexus informed me there is no manual way to open the trunk. Can I somehow manually open the trunk?
TPMS light was on. It was the spare , added more air. Then checked the other tires, one was low too and added air. Now TPMS light stays off no matter what position the TPMS switch is in. The light used to come on when switch was in the 'wrong' position.
2005 GX470 66k miles
I have a 06 GX470, and the lf window master switch has stopped working. The only items it will still control are the window lock, and the up and down movement of the lf window. It will not operate the other three Windows or the door locks. I did try to re-sync all of the Windows first. I know the master switch is good, since I was able to swap it with a known good one. I checked all fuses and they are also good. I removed of door panel and was going to start checking grounds and continuity between the harness from the lf master switch to the junction block.
View 6 RepliesWhen using the remote to open rear liftgate, the liftgate opens at a slower speed than using the interior switch.
View 1 Replies'04 RX330: Starting about a year ago, occasionally when inserting the ignition key it wouldn't turn to start. Take key out try again and it would start. Progressively, it seems to be requiring more and more in/out cycles to get the key to turn. It's like the transponder is not recognizing the key FOB. I have two keys, one is a master and other is a sub key, both have the problem. What has to be done to correct it? I'm afraid the dealer will just change some expensive ignition part when there's an easier fix.
View 14 RepliesAll my windows work, except my front passenger side window. It will go down, but not up from the driver side switch. It works from the passenger side.
I did NOT replace my battery or lose power. It started when I was driving and wanted the window half way down, but it kept going fully up or fully down. I finally got it to where I wanted it to be, but after that i could no longer bring it back all the way up. It can go all the way down, but no longer up.
I did manage to get the key to the ACC position so I left it there and dis-connected to battery so it would not drain due to some power being on. I removed the plastic clamshell around the steering column and popped off the top portion of the lower interior panel underneath the steering column to gain access to the lock cylinder to try to remove the ignition cylinder.
My problem is the transponder ring/illumination ring looks like it needs to be removed prior to removing the ignition cylinder but the dash is covering that portion and I can't figure out how to get that ring off to remove the ignition cylinder .
120K miles - love the car
CEL, skid, VSC trac and VSC off lights on - dealer said the code was p2441 Secondary Air Injection System switch stuck. Dealer said I needed to replace air injection system and that the cel would not go off until it was repaired. They completed the 120K service and when I picked it up, all the warning lights were off. I have driven it a couple of hundred miles since then and still no lights. Does that mean it could have been something else???? I love the car, but I need tires and brakes and now repair charges for a 2005 car with 120K.
I have a 2004 rx330 and the passenger side window will not roll down from the main cluster on the driver's side. It will, however, roll down from that door.
I've searched and read the tips on here to reprogram that window, but it doesn't seem to work for me and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I'm a pretty mechanically inclined person and have worked on many cars in my 20+ years of screwing around on cars, so I know it's quite possible I'm doing something wrong.
I've rolled the window all the way down from the switch on the passenger side door (the only way it will roll down) and I've held the switch down for 5 seconds, rolled up and held the switch up for 5 seconds.
I've even tired rolling the window halfway down, holding the switch for 5 seconds, then back up and held the switch up for 5 seconds. If I try to roll the window down from the main driver's side cluster, the switch green light blinks on the switch on the passenger side.
My problem occured at beginning of 5,000 mile trek to pick up my wife at her Florida friends place and make some visits heading north. The solution (not done until yesterday at Lexus) is appearing quite often now.
In fact at the feet of my Service Person's desk was failed part which is a plastic cover under the car for the fuel tank which loses rubber dampening lead strip over time. Then it clatters in thw wind (especially at Hwy. speeds) and telegraphs up thru' door and frame channels to seem like it comes from roof.
I thought my hearing bad at detection when I found this out but apparently they have speant all kinds of wasted time with roof channels/ rubber strip replacements (which I had done on right side of car and had done left side of car yesterday before we figured this thing our)/power moon roof assemblies. The problem is under the car.
2006 RX400h AWD. I've been experiencing a new and irritating creaking sound that happens when I'm turning left and/or right
The odd thing is that it sounds like it is coming from the center console. I've moved it all the way forward, all the way back and removed the contents of the console...no luck.
My searches didn't find anything close to my scenario. I know that there's a TSB for the front seat pins, but my sound isn't coming from the front seat.
