Water drips pretty much constantly and there is a shifting sand sound when in a turn. What's going on??

View 2 RepliesSaw this topic addressed, but not resolved to my satisfaction, in a post made some years back by the owner of an '03 Corolla. The comments suggested a water leak was the cause. But the sound is definitely DRY (think Etch-A-Sketch vs. waterbed). And the small amount of water that is leaking on the front passenger side floor didn't start until about a month after we started hearing the noise.
My VERY amateur guess is that it is some sort of breach in the air bag system, since that's where the noise sounds like it's originating. I searched the internet and didn't find anything on this topic of a sand noise coming from the vicinity of the glove compartment. Since the local Toyota dealer service department also thinks it's a water leak (not covered by our warranty, apparently) and that it could be potentially very expensive to locate and fix....
Just lately, I noticed a buzzing noise emanating from the glovebox when my car starts up. It goes away probably in 20 secs or so, and it's very pronounced when the outside temp is hot. When I was replacing my cabin filter, I found the source of the buzz. It's black box below the cabin air filter, to the right, with a 6-pin (?) molex. What this part is? See attached pic for identification.
View 4 RepliesSo I started hearing a noise that sounded like a telegraph clicking in random intervals. Some days, no sound while others I thought I was an old Western Union Office. Now the sound has progressed into a sound that almost sounds like a small compressor. It sounds at each start up and then at different points during the drive. I have traced it back to this device. It sits to the left of the Air return behind the glovebox. I have two pics to illustrate. It is the black box with a small wiring harness plugges into the top. On the left side there is a cylindrical white piece that is part of this device. Everything in my car works so not sure what this thing does. It looks like a royal pain to get out as one of the bracket screws is down in the back so that screw will be tough to get to without dropping the blower housing. That may require pulling more things like the dash when they replaced the evaprator.
View 5 RepliesMy wife's car is making a odd sound. I think it may be the timing belt. Her car is a 1999 Olds Cutlass v6 and I don't know if it has ever had its timing belt replaced. I can't tell from her records. So what kind of a timing belt does this vehicle have? How many miles before it should be replaced? The last question is, if she keeps on driving it, what it the worst thing that can happen?
View 8 RepliesI have a strange clicking sound (intermittent) near or behind the glovebox...warranty is almost up - worth a trip to the dealer?
View 6 RepliesI've got a 07 LS460 with 95,000 on the ODO and took it in for a harsh ride. The tech called back and said the upper and lower control arm bushings are bad along with a water pump leak.
If the water pump is leaking, shouldn't I have known? I haven't had any low coolant issues, smells or fluid on the ground.
I'm covered by an extended service plan, but would like to have known (otherwise I could have gone bust!)
We just purchased a 2015 RC350 F Sport for my wife and had it out in some heavy rain today. Water is somehow getting into the trunk.
View 3 RepliesI am using Lexus GS-300 2006, I have problem with Aircon have leaking water inside both Driver and Passenger. And I cannot find where is the Drain Tube.
View 2 RepliesI learned today there are at least two water pumps in my 2006 Prius, and that one of them is leaking. I had the recall done for the electric motor water pump in November. Now, during my scheduled maintenance, they tell me my second water pump has been leaking (slowly). My car has 132,000 miles.
View 19 RepliesI just got back from the dealer and was told my water pump was leaking. I was told it was a small leak and that it could only be seen by lifting the car. I opened the hood and noticed some pink crusty looking thing on what i believed to be the water pump. I took some pictures of the water pump, the radiator and overflow level. If you look closely you can see some of the pink crusty stuff around the pump. I poked it with a pencil and it broke apart pretty easy.
First of all if that pink crusty stuff is anything i should worry about? Also if the levels of the fluid in the radiator/overflow tank are good? Is there another sure way i can tell that i even have a water pump leak? I searched around the forum and it looks like the hardest part about replacing the water pump is getting the air out of the system and that the dealer quote is a rip-off.
I have an annoying rattle which is getting worse the more I drive. It appears to emanate from near the glovebox but I can't place it. I've emptied the glovebox and the rattle is still there and even driven with the glovebox door open and it still rattles. Is there a known issue in this area? I've tried searching on the forum but I'm not having much luck.
View 4 RepliesThe wife's 2008 Prius has apparently been collecting water on the driver side (front and back) floors for some time. Allegedly, it doesn't have to be raining, or even wet outdoors at all for it to accumulate. The fluid is not engine coolant or windshield washer fluid; clear, colorless, and tasteless (yeah, I did taste it) liquid, totally saturating, and partially filling the floor pans on the left side, while leaving the area directly under the driver seat dry. There seems to be some dampness on the passenger rear carpet, but it's nothing like the driver's side. The undercarriage has plastic shielding of some sort covering the areas of the floor where the water has built up, so I can't immediately see any drain plugs, or holes where water may be coming in. Before I start tearing things apart, I thought I would run the strange problems through the forum, and see what you all might come up with. I've seen some reports of possible A/C drain issues in the passenger front floor, but this is definitely left side. Oh, yeah....there's a stink along with it, but I'm assuming that may be mold caused by the standing water, or something totally unrelated; but I thought it bore mentioning.
View 19 RepliesI have worked on several minor to moderate engine issues over the years with various brand cars so I was thinking about replacing my leaking main water pump (not the Hybrid pump).
View 9 RepliesI have a 2005 Prius and there is water coming into the drivers side floor. We believe this may have been going on for awhile and didn't realize it. My son drove the car and there was a "smell" that started about a year ago and I thought he spilled something inside the car.
View 7 RepliesI have a small problem, the dealer that serviced my car just told me that my water pump was leaking and I was low on coolant. I can't remember when was the last time I checked the coolant level but when the dealer top off the coolant, he nearly used the entire bottle. Needless to say, I believe the radiator was pretty low on coolant.
Now I've never noticed a high temperature warning lamp or ever broken down. Today at 125,000 miles, I went to change my spark plugs. The 1st plug to the far left as you are facing the car has oil in the spark plug. This is freaking me out, could my engine be damaged from the low coolant?
I have a squawking sort of noise from behind the glovebox area that seems to happen when I'm driving on a freeway at speed. It sounds like a little electric motor maybe trying to adjust an AC flap perhaps ?
View 4 RepliesI know some others have had problems with water below the aux battery. I noticed this the other day when replacing the aux battery. I tried to pinpoint where the leak was by pouring water over the seams around the hatch and roof but didn't notice any water coming in. Then I tried pouring water in the seam above the right rear passenger wheel. Pictures are posted below. The water comes through the vent on the body that is just next to the battery. How to correct this?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius. I recently discovered some cold water leaking from behind the center instrument console on to the front passenger side floor. It only leaks when the A/C is running and there doesn't appear to be any difference if running with fresh air or recirc air. I removed the plastic covers from that area to look around. There is cold water dripping from the bottom of the metal tube that goes behind the console and into I guess an A/C component. The water is not running down the tube as the tube itself is dry. So, I'm wondering if this may be condensation on the A/C unit? Also is there a drain tube that may be clogged or something like that?
View 10 RepliesI have 2010 GS350 and after starting the car several times yesterday there was a very loud clicking noise coming from the dash near the glovebox.
View 8 Replies"Clunk" noise when shifting from P or R to D happening to me right now with my '06 GS300. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happened all day yesterday and sounded pretty serious. Took it into the dealer today, still under warranty, and of course it wasn't happening. Tech said he will keep it overnight, let it cool down, and check transmission fluid level which could be the issue. If that isn't the issue they said it could just be a "normal" sound. My wifes 2006 Sequoia shifts smoother and doesn't make a sound when you go from P or R to D ... Don't tell me it is the break pads releasing either because that is just as far fetched as the normal theory.
