I have an 09. I heard a rattle on a rough road and crawled underneath the engine. The right front skid plate bolt is missing. What size bolt belongs there.
View 2 RepliesI have a problem with my 2005 Prius ABS Skid plate module. It was defective and I replaced it with a unit from a 2007 car. The brakes work perfect now but I cannot get the warning lights to go off. The codes that come up on the computer are codes which indicate a loss of communication between other modules.
View 2 RepliesI got my all new Lexus but driver door has been rattle since 400 mile. It's like plastic vibrating and creaking.... I think it's the door panel is making the noise especially on rough road. When it rattles, I can place my hands on and share the vibration, then the noise would be somehow suppressed.
The problem is that I took it to dealer and they, as usual, cannot reproduce the problem! I took down the door panel myself, tightened all screws...and the noise...got worse....
How to install rivets to the subframe and rails of the car I can't figure it out to save my life and it just says to put the ecs bolt and but rivet installer but it literally does nothing the rivet literally slides in and out am I missing something.
View 16 RepliesLooking to install rear sway bar on 2001 Ex. and noticed a skid plate looking thing in front of passenger side rear shock. Two questions:
1. What is that, and
2. Do I need to remove it to put on sway Bar?
I installed a new engine in my pre runner. upon completion and a thorough check of fluids connections and such we lite it off ran beautiful and everything seemed to function.Put the hood back on and installed the skid plates and got ready to pull it out of the garage that's when things went pear shaped!!!My son fired it up it ran for a few seconds then shut its self off. the idiot lights would stay on even after you turn off the key and remove it.
Put the key back in turn it to run but not to start position and that will reset everything. the only thing un effected is the door lights. if the key is in it you can step on the brake and the ac clutch comes in and everything goes goofy. turn the key off then back on and try any function be it headlights ac brakes pedal or attempting to start and it goes all goofy. Where to start looking. Ran great for an hour before all of this started.
I was driving today enjoying the weather and a hit a few rough patches on the road. Nothing unusual. However I hit a bump and my Radio, GPS, and AC controls are now completely dead. I didn't hear the fuse blow and it seems strange that the radio and GPS would altogether go out. Only the Security light and Airbag light work. Nothing else.
View 1 RepliesWell this just started. I only really hear it over road cracks with the windows open. There's no clicking while turning, and I can't really call it a " clunk". That said, I'm assuming it's the infamous tie rod/control arm thing that was supposed to be solved by the time of the B5.5. Is it possible something just needs to be tightened?
View 3 RepliesMy 2012 RX350 now for over a year and like it a lot.........BUT.
There's seems to be a lot "road noise" that's transmitted back into the cabin, like driving over expansion joints on blacktop or rough road surface, is this normal?
I drove a 2000 RX300 for 100,000 miles and don't remember it being this noisy. Interior noise is great and quiet.
Notice a rattle when they close their trunk?
My top screws are plenty tight, but the bottom portion seems to not be secure enough since they do not have screws.
When I go over a rough gravel road, there is a rattle that is definitely in the steering column. How is this fixed? Is it a simple tightening of something? My Prius is a 2006 with 180,000 miles.
View 4 RepliesI have an annoying rattle the occurs on rough road surfaces. It comes from the front right wheel area but goes away instantly with light brake pedal pressure. Three trips to the shop have not identified the problem. I just read somewhere that there are "anti-rattle clips" or springs on the brake calipers. Is this right and are these the same as the retaining springs/clips that can be seen from the outside through the slots in the alloys wheels?
View 5 RepliesI own a 2011 IS350 RWD. My 4 year warranty just expired. So when it comes to rattles, the 4yr/50k miles no longer cover my rattle concern.
I spent about my 3rd year on a rattle that seems like only occurs when its cold. On cold days/morning, this rattle between the dash will come and it sounds like a bolt is loose, and is moving around or something like that along the lines of that.
So right before my 4th year mark came, I brought it in one last time to hope they can get rid of it. Once I got the car back, it was during winter.. so it still happened, but instead it was a lot louder than before.
Is there anything I can do? Since I've been trying to bring it in to get it checked out for a good year, I'm hoping there's a way for the dealership to honor that one concern I have with my IS.
Other than this rattle, I love my car. The rattle can get pretty bad/annoying especially when you're on a phone call. I bring this issue up during every oil change to get it checked out.
I have a 97 F-150 4wd and when I drive over rough places on the road you can hear a rattling noise. It also causes my truck to thud loudly. But also as I just coast at about 10 mph with the window down you can hear that rattling noise. Almost sounds like a washer sliding on a shaft or something. You can definitely tell something is loose in the front end when i hit rough places. We've jacked it up and tried to move the wheel and the bearings and ball joints seem tight.

View 8 RepliesThis question is more for those with aftermarket pads (particularly Akebono pads), how much rattling noise do they make when doing over medium-sized irregularities in the road.
Every time my car goes over a bump it sounds like some bits and pieces of the front suspension will be left behind me. Frankly it sounds embarrassing. Unfortunately, two separate dealers have so far told me that the culprit is the aftermarket set of pads.
Problem: rattle between dash and windshield, mostly in cold weather when going over bumps, road expansion joints, etc. Dealer quoted about $1200 to remove dash and reinstall with some new clips. Car is out of warranty.
Parts to fix: 1 piece of craft felt, a square foot of it. Color not important. 50 cents. I clean putty knife that is NOT sharp (a plastic one is great).
Cut: Felt into a few 3 inch wide long strips, then fold lengthwise, in half.
Insert: Felt into area between dash and windshield with putty knife, pushing into the fold, until felt disappears from view (this is why color doesn't matter)
Drive: the car a bit to see if you fixed it. If not, put another strip next to the one you did, or another one on top of the one you just did.
Worked for me. Clean, cannot see the felt, easy.
I recently bought a 2006 that idles rough, not real bad, but bad enough for me (and my 9 year old kid!) to notice. I asked the dealer where I bought it and they put it on the computer and said everything checked out. He said "it's a characteristic of this motor." I've never heard of such a thing. The truck has 27,000 miles on it and the dealer flushed the fuel system. He said the throttle plate had a lot of carbon on it, but it still idles rough... 4.6 idle rough?
