2008 GX 470 ... Experience noise that sounds to be coming from the back hatch/toolbox area when going over harsh bumps? If so is there a known fix for this? I was thinking of adding weather stripping in a couple of strategic locations.
View 4 RepliesI have a rattle coming from the back hatch area. I sat in the back seat while someone else drove and it sounds like it's coming from under the drivers side plastic side molding in the back hatch.
View 1 RepliesThis morning whilst backing out of my driveway and starting to drive down the street, I noticed the rather loud noise coming from the hatch area. Kind of like someone was crinkling some cellophane loudly.
The sound continued the entire commute to work (6.5 mi). The sound would stop only when I was stopped.
My daughter asked me to look at & listen to a horrible grinding noise coming from the upper right area of her Santa Fe's rear hatch. There was a plastic grinding noise coming from THIS:
It's the lock actuator for the rear hatch.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it makes that horrible plastic grinding noise.
I own 2001 2.0 Golf (first car) and lately as I drive I constantly hear this noise, it's very obnoxious, sounds like a washing machine going with a hard object in it. It's not continuous, but it doesn't happen rarely. Whenever I go over any bump, the slightest crack etc. I'm guessing it has something to do with the suspension? I'm not really sure since I'm still learning about cars...
View 1 RepliesI bought a new 2014 RX450H in late December of 2013. The car has 5000 mikes on it now and today when cleaning the car, I noticed (hard to believe but true) 3 separate rust spots coming through the finish on the back hatch panel. I know I need to contact the dealer, but should I be screaming for a new body panel or just accept the fact the my new car has to be repainted? This is the 4th RX I have had. Never ever had a problem before.

I have an appointment at Lexus but this sounds like warranty stuff to me -- sudden death of rear hatch? Lexus informed me there is no manual way to open the trunk. Can I somehow manually open the trunk?
I recently purchased a 2009 Camry with 95,000 miles. The Camry was purchased new at the dealer that I bought it from and all of the maintenance had been done at the same dealer so I have records of everything.
I did not notice any rattles when I test drove the Camry but driving it the next day I noticed two rattles. The first rattle was the deck area behind the back seat. That was easily fixed with some card board shims placed the right places. I will do a permanent fix later.
The other rattle was driving me crazy. It did not do it all of the time and to me it sounded "exactly" like it was coming from the area around or in the glove box. I took the glove box and the area around it off and could not find the source of the rattle. I had my daughter drive the car while I set in the passenger seat and the rattle never occurred.
I finally found the source of the rattle. It was the lid for the center console. The lid originally had two rubber bumpers. Both of the bumpers were either missing or worn completely down. When I had my elbow on the center console lid the rattle did not occur. I fixed it with stick on drawer stops.
I have a clunking sound coming from the back end. It is most noticeable at lower speeds going over bumps. I can also make the clunk happen by grabbing the top of the right rear tire and rocking it. I can feel something moving while I am doing this, but I can't pinpoint it. The bushings seem to be in good condition. The left rear wheel bearing was replaced recently. I also have an intermittent brake pulsation which feels like a warped rotor. I don't think it is actually the rotor, because it doesn't happen every time I apply the brakes. I believe that these two things are related. Is it possible for the rear struts to cause these issues?
View 13 RepliesMy wife's RX has had this weird, what I'd call a moldy/mildewy smell when you open the hatch. Cleaned everything out, check spare compartment for moisture, emptied out everything in the hatch, had the car detailed, and it's still there.
View 2 RepliesToday was the first time I was in my RX without the radio since I bought it. I have a 2011 RX CPO with 65000kms on the odometer.
When the vehicle is idling there is a tick-tick noise coming from the engine area that does not go away. I initially thought this noise was due to it being 0 Degree C but the noise continued for the duration of my 45 minute drive. Later in the day the noise was consistent was did not silence.
WHen i open the back hatch, the light does not come on when the switch is on door but if i flip it to on it works fine...
View 2 RepliesExperienced a rattle coming from the console area... a week or two ago I was driving home from work and I heard a "slight" rattle noise.. it sounded as if it was coming from the dash area... This concerned me because when I first bought my car about 18 months or so ago, there was a very annoying squeak in the dash when the temp dropped below 50 degrees... I took it back to the dealer several times for that squeak, and finally a young tech there figured out the problem and fixed it.. still quiet to this day... so anyway I'm hearing this very faint rattle sound ( on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the loudest, this would be a 2 or a 3 ) and it appears to be from the dash area...
I keep feeling around and putting pressure on different parts of the dash with no luck... then quite by accident I laid my hand across the counsel and as soon as my fingers pressed up against the round that selects eco / normal / or sport, the rattle stopped... removed my hand, rattle started again, just put one finger on the round and the rattle stopped...
So I had the car into the dealership for oil and filter change saturday and I saw that same tech that fixed my squeak last year... told him about the issue and while the car was in the shop he pulled the console.. said he couldn't find anything really wrong except that some of the clips were not lined up.. he didn't know if it would work but he said he insulated all the clips and a few other areas inside the console with some thick felt... charged me nothing... zero.... Don't know if the problem is permanently fixed, but I have not heard it in the two days since...
The last couple of days I've noticed a metal clinking noise coming from the right front wheel area when I go over bumps. The best way I can describe it is what it sounds like when there's a loose washer and nut on a bolt. A metal on metal sort of thing. Tonight I was able to replicate the sound I heard by pounding on the tire and got it on video and posted it below. Watch in HD to hear the sound I'm referencing clearly.

1. Just had spacers installed a few days ago
2. Also diagnosed the "clicking brake while turning slowly" issue. Thread about it here: [URL] .... Wondering if this has anything to do with the noise.
I have an appointment with Lexus tomorrow morning to have the brake clicking fixed under the TSB and several other issues addressed. Mostly rattles...
I put brand new pads on my 2003 sc430 about 6 months ago, and have noticed this rubbing sound coming from all 4 tires. It is very noticeable and annoying. I'm wondering if I should have put brand new rotors on the car while I was changing the pads. I did not here this noise prior to changing the pads.

I brought my 2011 GS350 in today for the dealer to fix the rattling noise coming from the dashboard after 2.5 hrs of waiting the car was fixed and I drove it to work and the rattling was minimal but tonight after work it was really cold I drove the car home and the rattling noise seem like it coming from the dashboard area near the windshield and the noise was more noticeable than this morning right after i left the dealer.
I just bought the car on March 3, 2015 so far loving the ride but the rattling noise makes me worry. The car is still under factory warranty until March 29th 2015 I am hoping they can correct the problem before the warranty expires.What should I do next?
I think that one of them is coming from the passenger door. It is more of a clicking sound kind of, than a rattle. Maybe as if the door panel isn't tightly attached so it moves back and forth a little and clicks.
The other rattle is from the cupholder area.
I took this car to my dealer and they fixed another rattle from the passenger door (claimed it was a screw in the speaker that had fallen out?), but it was replaced by this new clicking rattle. They also claimed they did something to the cupholder to fix it, but it didn't work.
My question is, how the door panels are attached to the car? I was thinking that if it is attached by a few screws I will try tightening those up myself before I go back to the dealer. It would be great if it was just attached too loosely and I could fix it myself.
I have a 2014 ES300H that I just purchased. After driving around for a while I parked it in the garage. After it had been sitting in the garage for around 6 hours, I hear a motor or fan type noise coming from the trunk area. It lasted for several minutes and then stopped. Is that normal and what the noise might be.
View 2 RepliesJust wanted to make sure this isn't a problem? Sometimes after a drive, usually longer ones, when the engine has heated up and running for around 20ish minutes, I hear a harsh bubbling noise coming from the engine.
I popped the hood and wanted to see where it was coming from, I touched around and felt the dipstick (oil) vibrating, but then I felt the oil pan and couldn't feel any bubbling in there.
Also I disconnected the battery as the bubbling was going on, and as soon a I did that, it had stopped.
I have been working on my front suspension for last 4 to 5 months and not getting any luck getting rid of the harshness over bumps and the large amount of energy from hitting bumps that transmits back into cabin both from the chassis and steering wheel.
I solved one issue that can be read through on my post for "Bad Engine Mounts ?" but still does not feel solid like it should over bumps. So far this is what I have done.
- New LCA Bushings (solid rubber style rear and Whiteline front)
- Koni FSD Shocks
- VW DG Sport Springs
- 034 Density upper strut mounts
- Meyle HD Sway Bar Link
- ECS Sub Frame Bolt Kit
Had VW Dealer put on rack last week and they could not find any looseness any where in front suspension. In desperation I took LF suspension apart yesterday to see if there was anything that I could figure out that would cause the suspension to not absorb the energy and create this harshness I am feeling.
My first thought is to go back to stock upper strut mounts, there is some give in the OEM mount compared to the 034 Density mount, they are rock solid! The other thing I noticed is the sport spring is rubbing on the strut spring perch.

Then after look at profile of OEM spring on bottom and new sport spring I noticed they are different, OEM is kinda like a hook and sport spring is round.
OEM matches strut spring perch perfectly.

Sport spring is tight
I would consider putting OEM spring back in but really would like to lessen wheel/fender gap and OEM springs look like they have sprung, won't stand up straight on bench cause they are curved after they came out of OEM struts. Also, B6 has no rubber insulators where springs seats into strut, my B5.5 has rubber insulators both top and bottom.
For close to 6 months I drove around with a squeak that sounded like a bird chirping coming from my dashboard windshield area. I tried listening everywhere while driving and could never pinpoint the squeak that was driving me crazy. For whatever reason, I adjusted the rubber bumper stops for the hood and the chirp went away. I had to post this just in case there were others with the annoying squeak.
