So I was driving my wife to dinner the other night, it was about 30* F out and the mirror started making a clicking noise (of course, I had no clue it was the mirror until I stopped and looked around). Sure enough, the mirror was clicking and the display was going back and forth between the "188" (the start-up display) and "NW" or "W" or whatever direction we were traveling in.
Obviously the clicking noise is a relay.
The other night I was going up the mountain and while going it started making a clicking noise..probably from no oil..We had been told from the dealership there was a small leak but nothing to worry about at the moment.We tested it and it wasn't leaking visibly but I guess with it getting cold out the hole got bigger and we didn't notice so all the oil leaked out as we were powering the lil car through the mountains..Needless to say on the cruise down it started shaking i saw some sparks and I think the rod went through my engine block and we broke down. It's completely dead. The car has right around 200,000 miles on it and has always been very well taken care of.I just traded my dad the car about 7 months ago for my 4-runner cause of gas prices..I moved across the country and of course have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS since day one.
View 8 RepliesMy driver's side mirror started having problems adjusting. I first noticed when the mirror tries to reset from auto tilting when in reverse. It was go to a certain point and start clicking as if something was blocking it from resetting.
If you push it with your hand it makes a terrible sound but then it can be adjusted without issue. It sounds terrible and I don't want to make things worse so I disabled the auto-tilt function.
'05 Gx470 w/ 93k mi. Time for new parts for all orig. frt. suspension? Started having "Clunking" up frt. Assume time for new shocks all around. Also, grease from upper ball joints half-way down steering knuckle arm, so probably dry? Thinking of replacing everything up frt. incl. hub bearings while have all apart and be done w/ it. Notice in FSM that this means replacing both upper and lower control arms that come w/ bushings and ball joints installed. Parts very pricey even w/ discounts ( 27% at myLparts), somewhere around $3,500 +/-, incl. rr. shocks. Rather cry once and hopefully get get another 90K +/- mi. w/o problems. I've always gone w/ OEM parts in past and probably paid the price, but since I'm doing all the work, hopefully evens out in long run.
View 1 RepliesI have a lexus rx 330. Pump started making noise and low on fluid. We replaced all the belts and new pump. After installing new pump it was leaking from fill cup cap when driving also making a lot of noise on cold start. Mechanic said new pump was bad so we put in another one. Car ran fine as soon as we put it in and bleed good. Following morning again a lot of noise on cold start and noise goes away about 10 minutes but again small amount of fluid leaking from cap on fill cup. I replaced the rubber ring on cap to get a tight seal but again nothing.
View 6 RepliesI was at the bank today and when I put it in reverse to back out, the car jolted and then it rolled forward slightly while at the same time sounding like there was grinding. I immediately put it back into park and the noise stopped. Then I tried to reverse again and it started making a clicking and whining noise and wouldn't back up. It sounded like it went into gear but it won't move. I was able to get it pushed out and the drive still worked. So I was going down the road and got up to speed and the shifting was significantly delayed.
It's an automatic by the way. So I tried to take it on the highway and it won't shift out of 2nd gear or 3rd. I know for a fact that overdrive isn't working so i'm doing 50mph down the road and hitting 2500 RPM. I don't know what the deal is but for about 8 months there has been a rumbling vibration when it tries to go into overdrive and when I accelerate quickly I force it to downshift and the rumbling goes away but it still shifted into overdrive when it got passed the rumbling and vibration. It's a 1997 C1500 2WD 5.7L Silverado.
I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey. I got the timing belt replaced two weeks ago.Last week the engine started making a quiet clicking noise upon acceleration. The clicking noise happens intermittently not continuously. Then last night the yellow engine light came on. Questions: What does the yellow engine light mean? Is the engine light related to the timing belt work that was done? Would the clicking noise be connected to the timing belt work?

Only makes clicking sound! So frustrated. How do I get the dvd player out? Removing the dashboard? My dvd player isn't in the dashboard though!
View 1 RepliesThe other day I had my windows open while backing up and noticed that the brakes make a clicking noise when I initially apply them while in reverse.
This happens every time I'm in reverse and I apply the brakes.
The clicking is only when I first step on the brake, but it happens every time I first step on the brake in reverse.
Maybe this is unique to the LS600hL (2008)? Are brakes on my LS different from brakes on LS460 / LS460L?
Took my car in for 10k mile service and let them know there has been some clicking noise coming from the front suspension when making a left/right turn...
I dropped off my car on September 21st and they have yet to complete my car... I've called them every single day since but, I don't get a good explanation from the dealer...
I have a 2004 Honda CR-V, 100k, just did its 90k maintenance (a little late) and also had the ball joints replaced. Brought back from the mechanic and heard clicking sound when turning wheel hard left or hard right, only at low speeds, usually when parallel parking or simply sitting in park, turning wheel back and forth. Right back to the mechanic: they checked it out, re-lubricated everything, drove it, said it was OK. I got it home, still clicking. Safe to drive this weekend? It's back to the shop on Monday.
View 1 RepliesSo yesterday When I unlocked via remote my drivers side mirror moved all the way to the right and started clicking. Like it was stripping the gears sound. Getting back in the truck the mirror moved fully every direction with switch on door. But the next time same thing, moved to the right and counted 3 clicks ! Happened 3 times yesterday.
I have a 68,000 miles on my 2009 s-crew lariat with most of the toys. Including memory seats. Some research pointed to drivers seat control module OR an orange with green stripe wire that may be broken at a splice off of the fuse box at location 3. However the wire thing I found was on a previous generation f150 and expedition, so I don't know if it applies.
I also noticed that when I went to program the mirror back to my setting by holding down the memory 1 button, it only beeped once. If memory serves me correct I thought when you hold desired memory button down for @5-10 seconds it should beep twice to set everything to that remote. So that's as far as I went.
I have a 2009 RX350 with 51,000 miles (just 1000 over warranty). The left rear strut developed a bad leak and has begun making the noises associated with the failed strut. I will be changing out both rears and have two questions that I cannot find info for on the web.
1) I noticed the 2 latches on the side covers inside the back area to remove the panel and expose the rear strut tower, are these the only two latches I need to remove to access the upper bolts, or are there hidden screws or things I need to do to remove the panel?
2) What are the torque specs for the rear strut bolts?
My right front disc brake started making a squeaking noise at about 50,000 miles when I applied the brakes. It was on and off at first but became more frequent. It wasn't a grinding noise and it wasn't the sensors for a low pad. I changed the pads and after about 2 weeks I started getting a grinding noise when I'd apply the brakes. I checked the pads and they were fine. After a few months I replaced the pads, grinding happened again after a few weeks of wear. Within the next few months I replaced the pads again, each time trying different types. Had the rotors turned recently and again, new pads. The grinding is gone but after a few weeks the brake makes a chirping sound now when applied. They work fine in stopping the car.

View 5 RepliesMy 04 GX has about 113k on it and the A/C clutch is shot, making a ton of grinding noise when its engaged (when the A/C is on).
Need to repair or replace there unit because of this? I see online the ability to buy just the clutch pack for the A/C compressor. However Lexus and other sites want to sell me the whole A/C compressor.
Question being, can I get away with buying the clutch pack and installing it onto my OEM a/c compressor? Or do I buy a new compressor?
I'm having an issue where when the fan is set to the lower fan speeds it will make a high pitched, harmonic chirping noise. I've isolated it to the operation of the fan, so I know it's something to do with the HVAC stuff.

View 2 RepliesTrying to load the CD ... I put in 6 discs I've tried them label up, label down, Compact Disc Digital Audio, and regular CD-RI hear the changer making noise when installed. The system won't play the CDs. It just says "No CD" At one point it put up a "Bluetooth connectivity problem" message. The rest of nav sys seems to work. 2005 Nav Sys Factory Changer. I've never used it and just got the car.
