I am trying to find out what's going on with my GX470. It's a 2003 and I just hit 125,000 miles. Over the past couple of months it has developed a loud roar on the left side that gets louder as I pick up speed. The kicker is that it doesn't do it what so ever when turning right? Where to start???
View 6 RepliesI am running into issues with my 3GS recently I am hearing loud ticking noise coming from the left side on the front of my car and from what most of people have told me is it might be my Axle or my wheel bearing so was wondering what the part number was for both of them and what is the best place to order these two parts from.
View 12 RepliesI'm looking at a 2004 F250 XLT super cab 4x4 with a 5.4L with only 50k on the clock. It looks to be in great shape and drives good with only a few issues. Cruise doesn't work, it pulls to the left a little, and it has a slight roar coming from the left front wheel. Other than that it seems to be a nice truck. Its blue and grey two tone. Anything else I need to look at before pulling the handle on this one?
View 11 RepliesI replaced my original wheel bearings at 90-95k miles. I'm at 145k now and seems like my wheel bearings are going out again. Very loud whir/grumble from what seems like the left side. When going straight or turning right, you don't' hear it much. But turning left it gets louder and very pronounced.
I do drive fairly aggressively and have upper strut brace, lower frame stiffener and so on. Plus it's a Touring edition and I do like taking my on/off ramps with zest.
Anyways, what would be the best quality/brand of wheel bearings to replace? Last time I had a friend replace them who is a Toyota mechanic and he did it at his house. He told me he used Toyota parts. I'm the type who likes to use OEM, but these don't seem to be holding up well??

Wife said she heard a 'pop' on the way home from work last night and thought she blew a tire or ran over something. Nothing in the road and tires fine so she continues home. Temperatures were near zero last night.
Upon start up today, the speakers were at full volume roar with the audio off.
Turning the audio on, only changed the pitch, not the level.
I tried cycle the audio on / off but no change. Restarted car, same thing.
Let the car sit a while and restarted it to check the system codes. Same noise for a few seconds, then a sort of 'pop' and the noise stops. Radio/ CD work fine now.
I checked the system and all shows OK. It is not drivable with the roar (if it comes back).
Over the last few weeks I've been hearing what sounds like a failing pump of some sort when shutting off my '06 GX470. The sound lingers for just a moment after the ignition is cut off, and sounds like a loud, very fast tatatatatatatata. It doesn't always do this - sometimes I don't hear anything. I've been commuting in the GX for four years and I've only been hearing this intermittent occurrence over the last 3-5 weeks.
What this might be? Fuel pump? Air leveling suspension pump?
The tire roar (not engine or wind noise) is unbelievably loud on my car. I drive a lot between San Diego and OC usually at 80+ and it is difficult to have a conversation on the phone and it is starting to drive me a little crazy. I have the all seasons on my car. I noticed a big difference on my S4 and my 550i when I changed tires to PS 2's from the stock Conti's.
View 6 RepliesOn my 2005 GX, the passenger side mirror can move only left to right (horizontally) but it cannot go up or down. I did some reading and it looks like this is a 'common' problem with Lexus mirrors due to the auto tilt-down feature. Something inside must be worn out or broken and it does not move any more.
The driver side mirror moves fine in every direction, so i am pretty sure it's not a defective mirror switch. The question is.... since this is such a common problem, is there a fix for it, other than replacing the entire mirror assembly? Is there a "gear kit" or something else that i can buy, disassemble the mirror and fix it?

Recently, I noticed that the left passenger side door will not close all the way. It seems that it needs a bit of excessive force for it to close all the way when I'm closing it, otherwise it will not close properly. The other 3 doors close normal. At first I thought it was my wife that leaving the door like this until I experienced it myself. I close the other 3 doors like you would close a normal car door and they pass with flying colors. However, when I close the left passenger door, it didn't close shut. I wonder what can I do to make it close normal like the other doors. GX470 2008....
View 5 RepliesI was driving down the highway one morning, when the spare tire from a small truck in front of me falls off on the highway. I'm probably going between 40-50 mph, and I can't change lanes, so I hold my breath as I drive over it. I thought I had cleared it when I heard the tire hit my 2007 Kia Sportage somewhere around the backseat area. Kia continues to run fine, no fluids leaking, engine running normal, transmission running normal, etc. Our car has never been quiet on the inside, but we noticed that the road noise started to get louder and louder. We knew that it was getting time to replace our tires, so we figured that is why it was getting louder. I had the tires changed, but the noise was still there. And it gets louder.
But everything continues to run normally, and my mileage is not affected. But it gets louder. And louder. I thought maybe it cracked the muffler, but you don't hear noise on the outside, just the inside. I just passed my state emissions check, so that is ok. I haven't taken it to a mechanic because there hasn't seemed to be any other problem, other than it's just loud. The noise seems to build up as I am gaining speed, gets its loudest about 50 mph or so, and at speeds higher than that it goes down slightly. It doesn't coincide with the transmission shifting, and it shifts at the same RPMs it always has, no issues there. The noise seems to be coming from the back of the car.
I have a 1992 Olds Cutlass Ciera S. Just fixed it running with a tuneup, but now I noticed that when I turn the steering wheel slightly left at all, I get a sort of small roar and it may just be me but the car seems tense. It feels and sounds like a bad power steering pump, but it turns right fine, no noise or anything. I do not think it's a wheel bearing. Could this car have rack and pinion steering and that is going bad?

View 7 RepliesWhen I start to take the car out of Drive, as soon as I push the chrome button on the gear selector, I get a loud click from the left side of the trunk. Is this a relay that is going bad or could it have something to do with the transmission? I get the sound before the car even goes into Reverse.
View 20 RepliesMy car begins to shake violently and hum loudly at anything over 70mph. It used to be 80mph but it has slowly gotten worse. I have checked the motor mounts and none appear to be cracked or broken. I have also had tires balanced and replaced, rims replaced, and the problem continues to persist. I was curious if the right axle could be warped? or this issue may be caused by damage wheel bearings. At any rate it has gotten unbearable decided to finally extinguish the problem.

It turned out the whole rack and pinion setup was pouring out fluids and needed to be completely replaced also while it was in there they checked out an oil leak which ended up being the front valve cover and replaced a dead O2 sensor. The car has 99,300 miles
View 6 RepliesI was pulling out of the driveway and heard really loud snapping noise. Jumped out of the car expecting to see damage, but everything looked fine. I didn't drive over anything or hit anything.
Now, I notice that when my left front wheel goes over bumps and potholes there's this metallic rattle. Took it my mechanic right after and we both looked the front suspension over. Everything looks good. It does drive fine.
My front right brake seems to work better then my left.. What it could be? my car pulls to the right when I press brake.. I am going to be replacing my brakes this summer but before I do that I wana know whats causing this so my new brakes don't get ruined..
View 4 RepliesI have a 2009 Toyota Corolla and it's making a loud grinding metallic noise on the front left side. It does it while I drive the faster I go the louder it gets. When I turn to the left it makes it louder, when I turn right the noise decreases. PG&E have been breaking the roads by where I live and there's a lot of little rocks I drive thru. I'm wondering if that's the problem?? What do I do?
View 4 RepliesI've noticed that I don't get a consistent engine roar from my sound generator when I throttle hardly. I get more of a roar when the engine is cold and I floor it. Any other time I accelerate hard it doesn't sound like my sound generator is working.
View 5 RepliesSo I have a 2004 gti that makes a very loud noise when i turn the wheel even slightly to the left there is also a vibration that shakes the whole right side of the car. I assumed based on the sound and vibration that it was the wheel bearing. the bearing was shot but when i replaced it nothing changed. so it has a brand new wheel bearing and the cv joint is good ive already checked it everything seems to be as it should. i cant think of anything else it could be. What the problem could be caused by?
