Lexus GX 2004-09 :: How To Improve Floaty Handling

Dec 16, 2011

I came from driving a 2001 BMW X5 to the 2007 GX470. The handling is so bad. It's so floaty. I do not have KDSS which is probably part of the problem.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 F250 - Poor Handling After Removing Snow Plow

So I have a 2004 F250 5.4 regular cab 4wd long bed that was bought used with a very heavy Western Pro plow. The truck only has 70K miles and it is equipped with the snow plow package and heavy GVWR package. Since I had no use for the plow, I removed it and all mounting hardware as soon as I got it home. The truck wanders and bounces down the road terribly.

It is tiring to drive and requires total attention. Reading posts on here about "wandering" left me thinking my steering box was probably worn out. I replaced this without any change. I figured that I must have other components needing fixed, but had not had time or money to dig deeper yet.

Now, this morning when leaving work, the truck had accumulated nearly an inch of very heavy, wet snow with a small layer of ice on the hood. Driving home was as if I were in another vehicle. Everything was tight and much less "hopping" when hitting small bumps. So, this leads me to my question. Do you think that simply adding some weight back to the front end, i.e.,: bumper, or brush guard, could be my answer? Or, is this simply covering up a more extensive problem?

Accent RB (2012+) :: Handling When Hitting Bumps / Potholes On Passenger Side

Had my SE for nearly a year, love it, but noticed that when I hit a bump or pothole in the road with the right wheels, the car moves to the left and I to correct to center again.

It does not happen for the left side (or maybe I don't feel it as much).

Toyota - Matrix :: 2003 - Replaced The Differential - Handling Stinks - New Noise

2003 Matrix XR, 89K, well maintained by old owner, just about to become mine.Took it to old owner's mechanic for pre-sale checkup. He said humming noise was rear differential and replaced it.

Now it pulls to the right when driving, to the left when braking (also throbs), and generally just feels like total crap to drive. There's also a noise that I hear as sort of a ...rough grinding/roaring sound? Seems to be from the back.

Details: the hum increased in pitch as wheel speed went up. Nothing else changed it - not going from dirt to pavement, drive to neutral, uphill to down, straight to cornering. Otherwise, everything felt fine - handled really nicely, that's why I wanted to buy it.

When I picked it up from the shop after the differential implant I drove it about a mile, flipped out at the way it felt, and took it right back; it was near closing time. Kid put it up on the lift, looked and said it was a front wheel bearing and to bring it back next morning. This morning the still-owner picked it up, test drove it and said "Yep, feels all loosey-goosey," brought it in to the shop, and different guy says "it's the alignment, bring it in tomorrow."

Alignment? Wheel bearing? Why all of a sudden? Maybe the differential is bad or not installed properly? Why am I the only one thinking this? Also, they lost one of the springs to the bit at the front where the exhaust joins on to the engine so there's a big loud exhaust noise, which they didn't notice when they test drove it.

Prius (2010-12) Fuel :: Changing Tire Size Effect On MPG / Handling / Traction?

My original Yokohama avid s33 is about ready to be changed. It now have over 42k on them. I think I can still stretch it before the winter starts. My OEM size are 195/65/15 and I'm thinking of getting the 205/65/15. According to Tire Dimensions Made Simple - Discount Tire my tire rotation will decrease by over 16 revs per mile. I know the side wall is going to be about a quarter an inch higher about an inch and a half bigger in circumference And the car is going to sit half an inch higher and a wider Width.

Looking for observation/s pertaining to performance, mpg, handling, traction, etc.

Phaeton :: Nitrogen In Tires To Improve Mileage?

I have heard that many people are switching to the nitrogen in tires as it is to improve gas mileage. I know they offered it at the Lexus dealership, but I never took advantage of it.

Of course, the phaeton is not going to get the mpg as an echo or aveo even with the tires, but I am just curious...

Camry :: How To Improve Stability At High Speeds

I have an 09 Se with the V6. About 50k miles. When I bought the car at 40k miles, I installed H&R springs and new KYB struts. Also installed the US rear sway bar. Recently put on 18"TRD wheels with brand new Continental extreme grip tires.

At high speeds, 90 - 100+ mph, the car feels a bit soft, and almost a bit squirrelly when maneuvering. What could I do to further stiffen the car?

Toyota - Venza :: 2010 - Rough Ride - How To Improve

I recently purchased a 2010 Toyota Venza. I unfortunately did not test drive it enough to realize how rough a ride it has. Thinking that something was wrong I brought it back and was told that it is normal and the Venza has a very hard ride. After more research I found out that it is a common complaint. The mechanic said that its large 20" tires, long wheel base and tight suspension all add up to a very hard ride. I saw previous discussions regarding this but no real or recent answers. Can anything be done to improve the ride? I was told that the 2013 model has a better ride so they must have changed something. Would something as simple as replacing the shocks with a different type? I love the car but hate the thought of driving it for the next 5 years the way it is. I would have purchased a Ford Edge or similar car if I realized how hard the ride is.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Improve HP And MPG?

I plan to keep my truck til I die... and want to dial it in. It's getting poor mileage (especially while towing) It make almost no power when cold and I've noticed an overall loss in power. There is no check engine light on and no code but I'm guessing I have injector issues and who knows what else.

I'd like to put a DP Tuner on it but I want to get it running perfect first. Where should I start? What should I service and or replace? Injectors? HPOP? Exhaust back-pressure sensor?

I have an '05 F350 single rear-axle w/109k miles. I only recently bought the truck for towing, and haven't had much time to play with it.

It seems that I get about 10-11 mpg on average - I was thinking this was a bit low - anything I can check?

I am normally a pretty quick driver, but, have been taking it easy to get a good read on the mileage, so, the right foot has been "very light".

The truck has a "tick", and I intend on following some of the guides for that, but how to improve the mileage
