I have 2007 GX 470 and recently I noticed that head lights are running during the day light time and it is set up for Auto Lights (I own this car for the past 5 years and it was never an issue). Is there any quick fix or...?

View 14 RepliesMy other D1S headlight bulb was fainting but didn't got chance to replace it until it went off totally. After replacement everything worked normally but after about one week, the replaced bulb does not lit up every-time. I needed to switch light on and off few times to make it work.
And to be more suspicious, now the other bulb has done to same... haven't lit up always.And couple of times they did it same time, I didn't have headlights in darkness at all. Just bad contacts to bulb or first symptoms of ballasts going to an end? What solution you can use there to clean contact surface not to mess the light housing?
I just bought a 2006 gx that has been lifted about 3" with old man emo springs. The ride height adjustment was removed and the adjustable shocks replaced with a larger non adjustable model.
The rims and tires were also replaced. I think the rims are 21" and the tires 33". The running boards were also removed and the wheel wells opened up a little.
The tire pressure indicator light is on all the time as the new rims and rubber don't link up to the sensor. This I can live with.
I tried it out today on a dirt road (Ophir Pass, Colorado) It worked great but about 200 yards in the check engine, and all three ride/safety system warning lights came on. (stability and slip sensors).
The car performed flawlessly, but the lights remained on even after I got to pavement. I did stop and check, oil, temp, coolant, etc when they came on and all seem to be fine.
I suspect it has something to do with either the oversized tires or the disconnected shock and height systems. How to get the lights to turn off?
Turned off my DRL's with the key/turn signal. The dash lights are great, see everything better, esp during the day with my shades on.
I know there is a sensor, I think near the MFI.
About four days ago my TPMS warning light started blinking. Same tires and sensors have been on there for quite some time. The service book says to take it to the dealer, but I instead stopped by Discount Tire (where I purchased the tires) to see if they could look and figure out which sensor was acting up.
When he ran his sensor, none of my four sensors showed up as broadcasting at all! Now I know that all four of my sensors did not just randomly go out at the same time.
So I go to dinner last night and I come back to my car and my lights are still on. The car was locked as the side mirrors were retracted. I was eating dinner for at least 30-40 mins. The lights were on AUTO when I entered the vehicle.

But even when not fiddling with the dial, I hear an electric motor sounding noise from them time to time, just a short <1s whirring sound. I listen with the bonnet open and I'm pretty sure it's coming from the headlights. Is this normal? is there any way I can stop it?

View 2 RepliesI rack up about 6 hours of daytime commute driving each week, and 6 hrs of night-time driving each week, in my 2009 Prius. That's 12 hours a week the low beam lights are used. I can't consider anything but the Basic sylvania headlights, as they are only rated for around 350 hours (like 9003BP), aand the premium bulbs are rated for much less. Is there any way to disable this daytime running feature? On my Corolla it is possible to ground a wire going to the daytime running module...the wire that becomes grounded when the parking brake is engaged. But the way Prius is all computerized, there may not be any discrete daytime running module.
View 3 RepliesLights come on when the ignition is on, regardless of the position of the headlight switch. They shut off about 1 minute after the engine is shut off. The warning chime dings the entire time until the lights shut off.
I want the light to work with the switch and not come on all the time.
It is not just the daytime running lamps. High beams also work with the headlight switch in the off position, ignition on.
Ignition off, the headlights switch functions as it should.
I bought the Escape about 1 month ago. Dealer purchase so I don't know how to get a hold of the previous owner.
It only has 51,000 miles, very clean and all service records.
The Right DRL Not Working on my 2005 Venture. I checked the following, also note the turn signal works and the following are ok.

Socket harness
All Fuses and relays
When I turn on the headlights the day-time bulb lights...
The sensor on the dash by the windshield has fallen. I assume behind the dash. The DRL flash intermittently. So I turn my headlights on. How do I find this sensor that has fallen out of place. I assume that's why they flash ?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2004 Ford F150 with 149,000 miles I have recently put 5,000$ In the motor that is a 5.4 V8 before it would shake and make a terrible noise got a brand new engine from Ford put in by a ford mechanic but now my rear end squeaks like crazy and it is all the time more so when going up or down a hill or when it's shifting more or less or going over a ruff surface that's been going on awhile and was told I needed a new rear end by the same ford mechanic and wanted 1,000 to fix it!
But also said the whining noise that is coming from the front was the transmission and that I shouldn't worry about it to drive it till it goes out but it's a terrible whining noise that you only hear it when your in gear not in park or neural the truck sounds good what causes this whining noise?? Not done yet but recently the front driver side around the wheel has also gotten a squeak mostly when in low speeds and turning to the left! What to do? I'm already replacing the motor! Hopefully these are some easy fixes! I've done some research and the whining from the front that I was told to be the transmission doesn't seem to be that I would think more along the lines of pulley or alt!
Here are some signs of the problem.
*Key fob does not work - battery is good.
*Interior overhead light works only on manual.
*Driver's auto door lock (with driver door open) will lock all four doors but the driver's door will automatically open back. To secure the truck I manually lock the driver's door.
*I replaced the driver's door 'ajar switch' with no results. The old switch was good after testing - normally closed until the ball is depressed then it goes to open.
*No codes.
*I just checked all the mini-fuses with a VOM and they are good.
*Could one of the relays be part of the problem?
I am curious if there is a scanner that can identify the bad door ajar switch if any?
From what I have read so far it appears the VSM (Vehicle Security Module) may be bad as a many of these 2002's complain of this problem and the VSM generally solves the issues. Are there folks other than the dealerships that can program the module if I purchase a new one and remove the old OEM one? Other than the inconvenience the truck runs fine other wise.
I have a 2010 RX450H and recently I've noticed the inner taillights (the portion that is stuck on the boot door) fails to light up when the headlights are switched on. At times I give it a nudge and it seems to work again. I'm guessing it's a loose connector somewhere. I tried look at the boot door but couldn't figure out how to get to the taillights. Is it even worth my trouble to attempt fixing it myself or should I send it in to the dealer to have it looked it.

View 14 RepliesI was changing out the little parking light bulbs outside of the housing with led bulb and it fell into the housing of the headlights!! Wow my luck do I have to remove the whole bumper to get this bulb out of the housing?
View 6 RepliesSo, driving home from the meet & greet in DC yesterday and when I turned on the headlights, the auto-leveling light came on. It randomly came and went for a bit but was on continuously by the time we got home. Headlights work and are at the correct height. Lights cycle up/down when the key is turned. Other than the warning light, it appears to be working normally.
Of note, this was the first time using the lights after the airbag actuator recall last week. Not sure how it could be connected unless it is a dash connection issue. If not,how to isolate if or which sensor is causing the issue?
