My headlights have a little haze in them. Looking for any of those restoration products?

View 14 RepliesThe other day I really looked at them and realized that the yellowing headlights are kind of ruining the front look of the car. Mine is a 2007 and has been a northern car all it's life and I assume this is a more frequent issue with the northern state owners, rather than southern, due to salt, sand etc.
Has to tackle refurbishing headlights? If so, is there a 'best' method to get rid of the haze and restore them to near original shine and transparency? I've wet sanded and buffed headlights a long time ago on another vehicle and after a few weeks the haze much worse than originally, so I don't want to repeat that with these.
My headlights, especially the right front one, seems to have a haze inside it (them). I was wondering if VW replaced them because of this problem. I have a current CPO policy.
View 2 RepliesI've noticed my 2011 headlights have a haze on the inside of the lens. I've tried polishing the outside with many different products, and it does a good job of the outside, but you can tell there is still hazing. A pal of mine also purchased a 2011 and kept his halogen lights and his lights still look new. His vehicle isn't even garaged..
View 12 RepliesI have a 08 f-150 with a 5.4. Started smelling anti-freeze in the cab, with that classic windshield haze of a leaking heater core. I don't have anything on the floor, nor is the engine heating up. Temp gauge is where it always is. This doesn't smell all the time.I just drove 4 1/2 hrs. with no problems. Other than the heater core ?
View 2 RepliesI like the stock rims on my 03 Super, any success story about this type of rim refurbishing? Or cleaning them up? Something like stripping all that chrome plating off them for a flat universal look? Nothing fancy.
View 1 RepliesI was changing out the little parking light bulbs outside of the housing with led bulb and it fell into the housing of the headlights!! Wow my luck do I have to remove the whole bumper to get this bulb out of the housing?
View 6 RepliesI have 2007 GX 470 and recently I noticed that head lights are running during the day light time and it is set up for Auto Lights (I own this car for the past 5 years and it was never an issue). Is there any quick fix or...?
View 4 RepliesMy headlight is beginning to haze it's very light at that moment but it's an eyesore to me, so I wanting to know if one of those headlight haze removal kit will it be over kill for my current situation or should I get some 2-3k grit sandpaper and compound and do it my self.
View 19 RepliesHow to prevent the difficult to remove haze from heat on dash creating vapor residue & also reduces visibility on interior windshield and door windows glass. After thoroughly cleaning all interior glass and dashboard using a clean cotton lint free cloth immerse into a bucket with 1/2 gallon of fresh water, 2 tbsp. of dish soap and 1/2 cup of white vinegar then wrung out several times.I have two ways to keep haze from forming Purchase vehicle specific dash cover and or always put sun shade in windshield before getting out of car.
View 12 RepliesI've had my Blizzard Pearl 2016 for about 5 weeks and about 2500 miles. Today I took it through the automatic carwash and while I was wiping it off afterwards I found I couldn't get the headlight covers completely clean. It looked like there was a drop of moisture on the inside and also the beginnings of the micro-scratches/haze I had on the inside of my 2010 Prius after 5 years or so.
View 19 RepliesI had the OEM projector fogs installed today, as well as the rear fog and Euroswitch (will post pics soon!). I love the look of the lights off just as much as on - such a great mod! My only concern is that there is some kind of haze (almost like condensation, but not) on the inside of the driver's side housing. It doesn't appear to obstruct the light, but it is clearly visible when the fogs are on. What this might be?
View 2 RepliesWhile I had my glow plugs out to crank the motor for the HPOP work I have done I checked the compression on all the cylinders. 6 of the cylinders were 275-280, got 250 and 110 on the others. I put oil in both the low cylinders and the 250 went to 260 and 110 went to 150. I pressurized the low cylinder and with the valves closed it was leaking out the exhaust manifold also had a small amount of coolant come out the water pump. Removed the cylinder head and didn't see anything unusual with the cylinder that was reading low in fact the if was the best looking cylinder of the four with nice looking crosshatch on the cylinder wall.
The other three cylinders has some slight brown haze on them which I assume is rust. This motor probably hasn't run in 18 months and the truck was a non-runner when I purchased as a theft recovery, no history on the truck. Taking the one head to a shop for them to check it out. What's the opinions out there with the low compression? Be ok once it runs and rings get coated with oil? The motor is out of the truck so maybe I should tear it down completely hone and put new rings in it.
My truck 00' 7.3 255k is smoking white. It's not thick its more of a white haze. Sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn't. It has a 6637 intake, exhaust, and wicked wheel. No tuner or such. Im thinking either the turbo is going out or maybe a leaky injector? Just checked the turbo wheel and it has a little side to side play. On start up itll puff white then go away but then under heavy acceleration on occasion there is a haze of white then goes to haze of black. It also feels like the truck is lacking some power. There is no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. Not consuming oil or coolant. And there is no excessive pressure coming out of the oil fill.
View 8 RepliesHave a lot more smoke from the tail pipe when they are running their tow tune vs their street tune? For me it seems like a lot especially right now being cold out but I still notice a haze at idle when the engine is warm. Also can smell a difference.
Getting a ficm tuner from php tomorrow so interested to see what that does for things.
I ran into this problem on my 2006 GS 430. It was caused by the lights beginning to wear out. It started on my left bulb and then both started doing it. The info was a great as originally I thought it was the ballasts. These are very expensive and hard to change.
One other word of caution, make sure the car is off for at least an hour so the high voltage in the ballast dissipates. These bulbs operate at something like 50,000 volts and that will definitely stand your hair up.
My Gs350 headlights are HID's I'm not sure if I'm suppose to change the bulb or the ballast itself... It does it on both lights and they both go out randomly or at the same time...
View 14 RepliesAny pictures or anything to show how to raise the headlight???
View 13 RepliesI picked up a 2014 IS 250 AWD in July. I was indecisive about the LED headlights but after a little research, I decided it was a good call. However, now that's in winter and dark out at 4pm I've really noticed how low the LED headlights are aimed. The high beams are even worse! I had a 12 GTI Autobahn and that car had the best headlights I've ever had and I was able to raise the headlights just hair very easily.
At any rate, I spent an hour today trying to figure out how to raise the headlights. Any DIY on this yet or can even locate the leveling devices? Also, I wanted to change out the H16 11W fog light bulbs but 11W seems so dim... The average bulb is a 50-55W. Won't that melt the housing?
Both low beam headlights went out at the same time on my 2012 ES 350, What can I check for before I go to the dealer?
View 1 RepliesSo I've been taking apart my 06 GS430 for about a week now. Dealing with all the small kinks I'd like to get out of the way.
One major and possibly costly fix are my headlights. Since I purchased the car back in 2012 the headlight lenses were slightly cracking on the inside but not so bad. Though now it's more noticeable than ever and it's really bugging me. I've never had an experience taking headlights apart nor do I have the talent to do so. I'd probably go to a friend that does this type of stuff..
My question before I end up spending an arm and a leg on new headlights. Can these be restored in any way?
