For some reason when GX470 is parked, it does not want to reverse when slipped into gear. I have to apply a some pressure on the gas pedal and than it moves with a loud thud like noise, I have noticed it when the GX is parked for 24-36 hours.
We leave here in N-CAL and weather cant be an issue. Besides it always parked in the garage.
When I started the vehicle this morning and shifted into reverse, nothing happened. I turned the car off and restarted it. It made a noise and I shifted back into park. The A/T P light came on.
View 6 RepliesI usually because mine was missing up a bit. My passenger side mirror when I put in reverse angles down adequately but my driver's side barely angles down? Searched forum and web and really couldn't find anything on it? Anyway to adjust the angle in reverse, I couldn't find anything in my manual at all either. I have it turned off now because it's virtually useless with the driver's side barely even angling down.

View 9 RepliesThe other day I noticed the car slipped into reverse fairly hard, then when I placed it into drive it also slipped in fairly hard. Once I was out on the road it hesitated and then slipped into gear 3rd then 4th, and when I slowed down it seem to hesitate when gearing down. Two days passed and no problems, then today started up again, and now the "check engine" light came on...! Shifted ok on the way home this evening but check engine light still on. Only 34K, 2012 bought in June 2011. Has been an absolutely brilliant ride up until this week. I understand the tranny is sealed ? Any tips besides taking it to a dealer ? Problem is I live quite a ways from one, and finding the time.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2010 GTI and I got the APR 93 octane chip about 6000 miles ago. The other day I pushed the gas to pass a car on the highway in 6th gear and it sounded like my clutch slipped a bit. It made me quite nervous as the car only has 10,000 miles on it. I'm hoping maybe it just got glazed over a bit.
All of my other cars had manual transmission so it's not my driving skills and I don't beat on my car either. My last 2002 GTI had 150,000 miles on it when I sold it and 140,000 of those were chipped. Never once did that clutch slip.
Wondering if this would cause any wear to the clutch or anything but was in gear 3 about to upshift but my foot slipped off the clutch and the car didnt jerk the rpms just went back to where they were. Curious if that would do anything

Not sure.......I uploaded a picture.....There is a red square where it is leaking....Please take a look at this picture ... whats going on, and also if this is an easy fix.....or difficult.....Seems to be a gasket between the black case and transfer case??
View 14 RepliesI own a 2004 lexus gx 470 and I am having some audio issues. The stereo system is the standard Mark Levinson speaker system. When i turn on my car, I can cycle through the different radio stations and cds, but there is no receiving audio coming from the speakers. I think it may be an amplifier problem, but i also don't know where to locate the amp or how to get my radio to work again. Also, I have tried holding the audio button while cycling my taillights on and off 3 times, but nothing shows up on the screen. My radio has not been working for about a year now.

View 3 RepliesThis is a problem that started a couple months ago, and I've taken it to two separate mechanics. Neither knows what the problem is. Basically, most times I try to start the car (~75% of the time), it cranks, and keeps cranking, but does not start. I have to pull the key back, and turn it again. Then it starts no problem.
Not fuel related, as pushing the gas while it's cranking and not starting does nothing. It's not regular either; sometimes it starts first try on a cold start, sometimes not. Sometimes it starts first try after driving for a while, sometimes not. It's a 2004 with 130k miles.
Interestingly, I am pretty sure this started when I got a new key. The physical key shell snapped and separated from the blade. I ordered a new one, and put the old transponder into the new key shell. I haven't had any sort of anti-theft problems afterwards (unless this is one).
I need to find the correct troubleshooting procedures for the following cel codes, before I go out and get a expensive used ABS Pump Complete Brake Booster Master Cylinder.

So the other day I was listening to the radio, and all of sudden no more audio.. After some troubleshooting, and some reading. I am thinking it's the levinson amp. I have a few questions:
First where is the best place to buy a replacement.
I assume it's the piece under the passenger seat and it's as simple as undoing the bolts and swapping out the cables..
I did run the diagnostic with the holding info, and flicker the lights and everything came up as "ok". I just need to get audio going in this thing again for as cheap as possible!
I pulled my cluster, but had the key in ???? So now the airbag light won't turn off. How do I clear this to turn it off? I have a 2004 Lexus GX470 ....

Display screen blank- radio and AC work but cant control on touch screen (its blacked out), tried a few tricks that others had suggested

Gave up. Went to dealer expecting a unpleasant $$ (buy a new nav screen) type of surprise. nope! service writer pulled it in to the shop and ....
Disconnected the NEGATIVE battery cable. Fixed it right away and didn't charge me a thing (shouldn't have anyway) He said that sometimes the computer just gets scrambled and shuts itself off as a precaution. So if you nav screen is blacked out and unresponsive give that a try.
I was using the12V power outlet to power a small air compressor to a small air tank. Had to answer a phone and forgot about it for a while. When I returned, the air compressor was not working. I figured I either blew a fuse or fried the compressor. I pulled the 12v plug from the power outlet and inserted it in the cigarette liter outlet and the compressor still worked.
I then plugged my radar detector into the 12V outlet and it did not work.So I figureed I blew a fuse. I pulled the 15 amp fuse from #54 but it looked good. To double check I swapped this fuse with the 15 amp fuse for the rear wiper and the fuse was fine.
So I am thinking the 12V power outlet socket must be bad. Isn't that why we have fuses -to protect an expensive part with a cheap one? Is this an easy DIY job?
The 4 wheel stick shift is stuck between H and L and would not engage either .. what can be done..
