I have 228,000 miles on my wonderful GX 470. Love it!! Very Few Problems. My Airbag Light on the Cluster stays ON sometimes and sometimes is OFF. There is no consistency. I will be driving and the light will come ON and stays ON. And then, it will stay OFF for few drives. Why the light would sometimes come ON?

View 8 RepliesCan the instument cluster on my GX 470 be relaced with a used unit? Will the miles be retained from the computer or will I have to some how have them matched to the old odometer? I do not want to have a mileage unknown unit nor do I want to have to buy a new cluster from the dealer.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 GX 470, the air suspension often deflates to axles and stays there. Ride is unbearable, I removed the rear height sensors and used an ohmeter to test them and they seem to be working fine (ohms change as I move the pivot arm, goes from 423 ohms to 3.3 K full stroke on both sensors) It will deflate to axles and there are no flashing lights and the manual height switch doesn't do anything when I push it, it just stays in N. Every few days the suspension will start working and air up and ride fine. What else could it be besides sensors or is it the sensors even though they seem to be working fine. Could it be an adjustment on sensors. Where is the height control exhaust valve located? Once it airs up to normal can I just disconnect the exhaust valve so it cant deflate?
View 13 RepliesI have a problem with my gauges. Sometimes my RPM gauge works, and sometimes it doesn't.
When I approach the car and open the door, I hear a weird noise coming from the gauge cluster (or a nearby area). When I start the car, none of my gauges work, and you can see the temperature, speed, and fuel gauges flickering. After about 10 or 15 seconds all gauges fire up, except for the RPM gauge.
The flickering does not always occur, but my RPM gauge is dead most of the time. It works once in a while in the morning when I start the car, but once I shut down the car and start it again, I loose my RPM gauge the rest of the day.
I think the noise I hear behind the cluster or inside the steering wheel area has something to do with this problem because the cluster problem arouse when I started hearing the noise.
I managed to put the problem on video, and you may see it here. If you focus your attention on the fuel and temperature gauges right after I start the car, you will see the flickering. You will then see the needles jump to their correct readings about 15 seconds after the car starts, but as you can see the RPM gauge is dead.

This happened last year right at the end of winter and than stopped during summer, just started back up today, just so we have all the info- my airbag light in cluster comes on and airbag off light come on above radio and both turn off. Once the truck is started a very loud ear piercing single tone comes from under dash (130 dB at least) this can range from 5-30 seconds depending on how cold it is outside.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2004 250 SD. Supercab. Took out the bench and replaced with captains or buckets, whatever you want to call them. Perfect fit. The new seats have their own seat belts built in to them. The old ones, were mounted to the floor and roof. Now the air bag light blinks for a fairly long time, then stays on! What? OK, So, what do I NOT know about this project? I did have to make the wires longer in order to reconnect the plugs. Not a problem, I am an electrician. Trouble shooting is ok, when you know where to start.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 GX 470 with 130,000 miles on it. Recently, when driving on long trips I have noticed that the SRS bag light will come on after we stop after driving for a while. To be a little clearer, the car will start normally when cold, all dash lights will go through their sequencing and turn off. We will drive for a distance which will be long enough to heat everything up, say to the mall or a restaurant.
When we return to the car and I start it all lights go thru their sequencing and the SRS light stays on. Next morning, after the car has cooled, everything is normal again. Lexus says it is the 89170-60241 sensor assembly that is $489.26 plus $310.95 in labor to replace. While I have owned the car I have successfully replaced the air suspension rear sensors and all the O2 sensors and recently did an engine swap with my son on his Toyota Supra so I think I can handle the repair. Where is the sensor located and how is it accessed??
2005 GX470... Long time Toyota owner, first time Lexus with tpms. Light is flashing meaning a bad sensor from what I've read. Lexus wants $ to check and repair one wheel. Discount tire had a hand held checker and it found two bad sensors.

View 2 RepliesCluster dead. Held power button for 3 seconds. Engine shuts off but MFD stays on and green power stays on too. I've tried holding the power button for 20+ seconds. I can restart the car normally and and the engine starts up. Holding the power button for 3+ seconds turns the engine back off, but not completely. When I walk away from the car, it complains I'm leaving with the key and beeps at me. It's still powered on in my garage.

2006 Azera air bag light stays on all the time in the speedo cluster panel when I start the car. Is it a fuse problem, sensor problem etc? Is it covered under the recent recall?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata that has the "Air Bag" light (Red indicator in the instrument panel). This is not the amber indicator for the passenger side air bag sensor. There is also an error code "B1706-Passenger Buckle Pretensioner Voltage High". Is this the "Female" part of the passenger side seatbelt buckle (i.e. the part that is attached to the left side of the seat)? Most of what I've seen on the web is referencing that part. Am I on the right track?
View 19 RepliesLike the subject says, I have been noticing over the last 2 months in my 03 GX470 that the interior lights and open door dash light come on when accelerating.
-The issue is exacerbated in cold weather. I have double checked all doors and rear hatch are closed.
-I have gone around and checked all door sensors are functioning, not sticky, etc.
-I climbed in the rear hatch and had my wife shut it. When I push on the plastic under the window, the lights come on. When I push on the glass itself (and push MUCH harder then on the plastic) the lights do not come on.
Clearly I have an issue in the rear hatch trim area.
I bought my first Lexus, great car. 2003 GX470 with 106k. I have had one problem with the fuse for the dome light. This issue has been on going since I bought the vehicle a couple months back and I can usually fix the problem by just replacing the fuse. Now when I try to replace the fuse, the fuse sparks and blows before I can even put it into the slot. Obviously there is something going on here that won't allow the fuse to be inserted before blowing. How to rectify this issue?

After I could not figure why I was having the alarm light I drove the car to a mechanic, explained my sleepless nights and many hours of problem analysis, and then the mechanic took his code reader, connected to the OBD car port, made a few clicks, and charged me $45 and then sent me off. The alarm light has not been back since - it blinks as expected when I start the car.
On my further research I have found that VW airbag light will come on if you check airbag with your ghetto OBD code reader - exactly what I had read! It registers "high resistance", and must be reset by someone with a qualified code reader!
I have a check engine and air bag light that stays on. I was told if I dis-connect the battery, it will clear the codes. I need an inspection and I'm short of time.
View 1 RepliesAfter spilling coffee down emergency brake lever the airbag light intermittently stays on. OBD showed no codes.
Found a couple of recalls that deal with airbag problems. One messed with the wiring harness under neath both front seats. The old wires hung down to low. The 2nd added a cover to not allow liquid to get on the connector/airbag electronics. The airbag electronics connector is directly below the emergency handbrake lever.
My nephews 2002 had the carpet extended over the connector/airbag electronics and that was suppose to protect the connector from getting wet.
Found sticky coffee on connector/airbag electronics.
Used screw driver to pry up on console tray. Then removed 3 screws on both side of console. Disconnected battery then used contact cleaner on connector and electronic module. Took plastic lid from 42oz round container of oatmeal and used double side tape to secure over connector/electronic module.
Airbag light is off and connector/airbag electronics has better protection from spills.
