I have a 2003 Lexus GX470 and its leaking fluid....Seems to be the transfer case?? Not sure.......I uploaded a picture.....There is a red square where it is leaking....Please take a look at this picture ... whats going on, and also if this is an easy fix.....or difficult.....Seems to be a gasket between the black case and transfer case??

View 9 RepliesThis afternoon I saw that car was leaking some fluid by mid car. Next to the catalytic converters. At first I thought it might be oil since I just did an oil change 2 days ago. But after taking a closer look it wasn't from the oil pan. I just want to make sure the leak is from the A/C system and not something else.

At the 30k service, Toyota technician said he noticed transmission fluid leaking at the axle seal." I was gonna show Lexus this at some point, or maybe get an oil change there at the 40k service.
View 3 RepliesI took my gs350 for a drain and fill today. Before They did anything, The service advisor called and told me the pan gasket is leaking along with a seal? I am aware of the gasket on the pan but wasn't able to get any info on the seal. Is it a seal that is replaced regardless of leak or not if they drop the pan?
Got quoted 700+tax for pan drop, replace gasket and said seal with fill of fluid.
I believe my GPS is out of date. The DVD says North America version U20. Data version 05.1. Is this old? Is the newest DVD going to really work for me or can I buy last year's model?
View 2 RepliesI own a 2004 lexus gx 470 and I am having some audio issues. The stereo system is the standard Mark Levinson speaker system. When i turn on my car, I can cycle through the different radio stations and cds, but there is no receiving audio coming from the speakers. I think it may be an amplifier problem, but i also don't know where to locate the amp or how to get my radio to work again. Also, I have tried holding the audio button while cycling my taillights on and off 3 times, but nothing shows up on the screen. My radio has not been working for about a year now.

View 3 RepliesThis is a problem that started a couple months ago, and I've taken it to two separate mechanics. Neither knows what the problem is. Basically, most times I try to start the car (~75% of the time), it cranks, and keeps cranking, but does not start. I have to pull the key back, and turn it again. Then it starts no problem.
Not fuel related, as pushing the gas while it's cranking and not starting does nothing. It's not regular either; sometimes it starts first try on a cold start, sometimes not. Sometimes it starts first try after driving for a while, sometimes not. It's a 2004 with 130k miles.
Interestingly, I am pretty sure this started when I got a new key. The physical key shell snapped and separated from the blade. I ordered a new one, and put the old transponder into the new key shell. I haven't had any sort of anti-theft problems afterwards (unless this is one).
I need to find the correct troubleshooting procedures for the following cel codes, before I go out and get a expensive used ABS Pump Complete Brake Booster Master Cylinder.

So the other day I was listening to the radio, and all of sudden no more audio.. After some troubleshooting, and some reading. I am thinking it's the levinson amp. I have a few questions:
First where is the best place to buy a replacement.
I assume it's the piece under the passenger seat and it's as simple as undoing the bolts and swapping out the cables..
I did run the diagnostic with the holding info, and flicker the lights and everything came up as "ok". I just need to get audio going in this thing again for as cheap as possible!
We have a 2004 Passat 1.8 t with about 180,000 miles on it. We changed the battery and now it seems to belch out tranny fluid once it comes to a stop. I thought I read where some sensors need to be reset after a battery is changed. Would a battery change cause a leak of this type?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2004 f150 4x4 with a 5.4. i have been leaking some fluid for a few months now but when i check oil and transmission both fluid levels are fine. I crawled under and it looks like something is leaking near engine and trans meeting and fluid looks reddish making me think its trans. now this week I developed a whining sound when truck moves. Again I rechecked oil and trans fluid levels and are all good. i was going to check transfer case but it is way behind leak and dry.

Display screen blank- radio and AC work but cant control on touch screen (its blacked out), tried a few tricks that others had suggested

Gave up. Went to dealer expecting a unpleasant $$ (buy a new nav screen) type of surprise. nope! service writer pulled it in to the shop and ....
Disconnected the NEGATIVE battery cable. Fixed it right away and didn't charge me a thing (shouldn't have anyway) He said that sometimes the computer just gets scrambled and shuts itself off as a precaution. So if you nav screen is blacked out and unresponsive give that a try.
I was using the12V power outlet to power a small air compressor to a small air tank. Had to answer a phone and forgot about it for a while. When I returned, the air compressor was not working. I figured I either blew a fuse or fried the compressor. I pulled the 12v plug from the power outlet and inserted it in the cigarette liter outlet and the compressor still worked.
I then plugged my radar detector into the 12V outlet and it did not work.So I figureed I blew a fuse. I pulled the 15 amp fuse from #54 but it looked good. To double check I swapped this fuse with the 15 amp fuse for the rear wiper and the fuse was fine.
So I am thinking the 12V power outlet socket must be bad. Isn't that why we have fuses -to protect an expensive part with a cheap one? Is this an easy DIY job?
The 4 wheel stick shift is stuck between H and L and would not engage either .. what can be done..
View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 GX 470, I noticed a sound, like that of a belt being loose, the sound came from the front of the truck. A few minutes later the AC stopped cooling, it was blowing really hot air and then the temperature of the engine went really high. I stopped on the side of the road, when we opened the hood, the belt was not broken but there was antifreeze everywhere.
View 5 RepliesLike the title says. I just bought a used gx470 2004. It has 96k on it. I have a problem with the speedo not working occasionally. It still tracks miles and doesn't shift weird so it's not the speed sensor. I have read a few things about the lube in the cluster getting gunky and not letting it work properly. I have seen a few articles about being able to clean and use some wd-40 to get it working again.
