Alright so pretty much every night my alarm on my 2003 lexus gx470 keeps going off i just want to unhook. Where I can unhook the alarm at so it stops going off is it under the dash or where?

View 8 RepliesJust purchased a 2003 GX470 with 160k and after the low brake fluid light came on I noticed the master cylinder had a leak. After removing the cover it appears the fluid has leaked for quite some time as the paint has started pealing from the frame. The brakes however appear to be working correctly. Upon purchase the front calipers were seized and I replaced both front calipers.
After having someone depress the brake pedal while I watched, the fluid leaks from the end of the master cylinder each time pedal is pressed in.
After doing some research it appears there is a rebuild kit for the master cylinder.
I bought a 2003 GX470 a couple of months ago and love it. It was a good upgrade from the 98 Land Cruiser I had a couple of years back and much better than my recent X5. Even though it runs great right now, I have one issue bugging me.
The Navigation unit hasn't ever really worked. Actually, it works, but since I bought it has used the secondary system which calculates location based off direction and speed which is only accurate if driving 50 yards or less - even after calibration
I found out how to get into the secret menu and looked through the settings. When I go to the screen which shows connected satellites, it says "Ensure nothing is blocking gps reception." I've tried a couple of resets, but nothing seems to work. I looked up where the antenna is to see if the connections is loose, but the only reference I found said it was on the rear glass. Unless integrated into something, I don't think it is, though.
The system still runs a factory 2003 disc for maps which is Gen 3. I tried a used 2007 map disc which upgraded the system, but didn't work. It gave disc errors so had to go back to the 2003 one. I haven't had a GPS signal since the day I bought it.
My 03 GX470 has an issue where the windshield wipers will randomly stop working. It doesn't matter what setting they are on, auto, low, high, they work fine for a few minutes, then just stop mid stroke. They sometimes start back again on their own after a minute or so, but usually, I have to turn the switch to other settings a few times, to get it going again. Inevitably though, the wipers only work for a few minutes more, before stopping again. What could be causing this?
View 5 Repliesi have a 2003 gx470 the last couple of nights the alarm has been going off by its self first i thought it might be just the cat or something but no in the early mornings around 3am and 5 am its been going off i would turn it off lock it and about 5 mins later it would go off again does it about 2-3 times also i tried leaving it unlocked and still does it and it only seems to go off in the early morning as i said and doesn't go off all day what it could be maybe a short in the alarm or something?
View 7 RepliesChanged the battery in my 2003 GX 470 today and all hell has broken loose. I have been able to reset my windows and moon roof but my Nav has a mind of its own.
MAP, DEST and MENU screens are all blank. However CLIMATE, AUDIO, DISPLAY works perfectly.
Like the subject says, I have been noticing over the last 2 months in my 03 GX470 that the interior lights and open door dash light come on when accelerating.
-The issue is exacerbated in cold weather. I have double checked all doors and rear hatch are closed.
-I have gone around and checked all door sensors are functioning, not sticky, etc.
-I climbed in the rear hatch and had my wife shut it. When I push on the plastic under the window, the lights come on. When I push on the glass itself (and push MUCH harder then on the plastic) the lights do not come on.
Clearly I have an issue in the rear hatch trim area.
I bought my first Lexus, great car. 2003 GX470 with 106k. I have had one problem with the fuse for the dome light. This issue has been on going since I bought the vehicle a couple months back and I can usually fix the problem by just replacing the fuse. Now when I try to replace the fuse, the fuse sparks and blows before I can even put it into the slot. Obviously there is something going on here that won't allow the fuse to be inserted before blowing. How to rectify this issue?
View 2 RepliesI would like to post this performance issue on my 2003 GX470_79Kmiles which happened on the freeway yesterday. The sequence:
1) During start and at idle/stationary, the rpm shoot to 1100rpm and stayed there for a while, i would think that it was normal since the engine was still cold.
2) Drove to the freeway, I noticed that speed is very slow to pick up. My normal driving experience was that at close/equal to 2000rpm, the speed usually at around 70-75mph. But there was a considerable reduction of speed at around 60mph at almost more than 2000rpm, plus a buzzing engine noise. I tried to really rev-up the engine but very sluggish to pick up the speed not even close to 70mph.
3) Drove the car to lexus shop this morning, top speed of 60 to 65mph and tried to rev it up to plus 2000rpm to pick up speed, but the engine noise is very abnormal.
I believe my GPS is out of date. The DVD says North America version U20. Data version 05.1. Is this old? Is the newest DVD going to really work for me or can I buy last year's model?

Not sure.......I uploaded a picture.....There is a red square where it is leaking....Please take a look at this picture ... whats going on, and also if this is an easy fix.....or difficult.....Seems to be a gasket between the black case and transfer case??
View 14 RepliesI own a 2004 lexus gx 470 and I am having some audio issues. The stereo system is the standard Mark Levinson speaker system. When i turn on my car, I can cycle through the different radio stations and cds, but there is no receiving audio coming from the speakers. I think it may be an amplifier problem, but i also don't know where to locate the amp or how to get my radio to work again. Also, I have tried holding the audio button while cycling my taillights on and off 3 times, but nothing shows up on the screen. My radio has not been working for about a year now.
View 9 RepliesThis is a problem that started a couple months ago, and I've taken it to two separate mechanics. Neither knows what the problem is. Basically, most times I try to start the car (~75% of the time), it cranks, and keeps cranking, but does not start. I have to pull the key back, and turn it again. Then it starts no problem.
Not fuel related, as pushing the gas while it's cranking and not starting does nothing. It's not regular either; sometimes it starts first try on a cold start, sometimes not. Sometimes it starts first try after driving for a while, sometimes not. It's a 2004 with 130k miles.
Interestingly, I am pretty sure this started when I got a new key. The physical key shell snapped and separated from the blade. I ordered a new one, and put the old transponder into the new key shell. I haven't had any sort of anti-theft problems afterwards (unless this is one).
I need to find the correct troubleshooting procedures for the following cel codes, before I go out and get a expensive used ABS Pump Complete Brake Booster Master Cylinder.

So the other day I was listening to the radio, and all of sudden no more audio.. After some troubleshooting, and some reading. I am thinking it's the levinson amp. I have a few questions:
First where is the best place to buy a replacement.
I assume it's the piece under the passenger seat and it's as simple as undoing the bolts and swapping out the cables..
I did run the diagnostic with the holding info, and flicker the lights and everything came up as "ok". I just need to get audio going in this thing again for as cheap as possible!
I pulled my cluster, but had the key in ???? So now the airbag light won't turn off. How do I clear this to turn it off? I have a 2004 Lexus GX470 ....

Display screen blank- radio and AC work but cant control on touch screen (its blacked out), tried a few tricks that others had suggested

Gave up. Went to dealer expecting a unpleasant $$ (buy a new nav screen) type of surprise. nope! service writer pulled it in to the shop and ....
Disconnected the NEGATIVE battery cable. Fixed it right away and didn't charge me a thing (shouldn't have anyway) He said that sometimes the computer just gets scrambled and shuts itself off as a precaution. So if you nav screen is blacked out and unresponsive give that a try.
I was using the12V power outlet to power a small air compressor to a small air tank. Had to answer a phone and forgot about it for a while. When I returned, the air compressor was not working. I figured I either blew a fuse or fried the compressor. I pulled the 12v plug from the power outlet and inserted it in the cigarette liter outlet and the compressor still worked.
I then plugged my radar detector into the 12V outlet and it did not work.So I figureed I blew a fuse. I pulled the 15 amp fuse from #54 but it looked good. To double check I swapped this fuse with the 15 amp fuse for the rear wiper and the fuse was fine.
So I am thinking the 12V power outlet socket must be bad. Isn't that why we have fuses -to protect an expensive part with a cheap one? Is this an easy DIY job?
