Have owned my 2008 GX470 for about 8 months now and love it. However, over the last month I have noticed the molding between the driver door and roof has been popping out. I don't know if there are clamps down in there that have fallen out or if the molding just needs to be clamped back in. Picture is below.
View 5 RepliesMy driver side door molding is missing a clip. This is the bottom half of the mold and one of the clips snapped off. I've checked junk yards and they never have any GX's. Just to elaborate the clip I'm missing is on the exterior side of the door, down by the bottom edge.
View 2 RepliesTwice now I have taken my 2011 Avalon to a drive-thru car wash and had the roof molding pop out of the channel. The first time I had this problem was when I went to a car wash that had large roller brushes that contact the vehicle. When I exited the car wash I saw that the driver's side roof molding had popped out. It was a quick fix to just pop it back in but of course the concern is that it could come all the ways out and be lost either on the road or in the wash bay.
So, for the next wash I took it to a "touchless" wash and when I pulled out the bay I saw that the passenger's side roof molding had popped out of its channel. So, I am guessing that since there are no brushes contacting the car that it is either the power of the blow dryer or the power of the water spray or a combination of all the above that is causing them to pop out.
Let me begin by saying I have no clue what this trim or molding is called. It goes from hood to the trunk and runs beside the windshield and rear window and all the way across the top.
Well mine is peeling off. By this I mean the "sticker or decal" that lexus decided to use instead of paint is peeling off and now my car looks like crap. What is the name of this part or how to remove it so I can go have it painted? The dealership offered no assistance besides charging me 1200 to have them taken off and "new ones" put on that have the same sticker piece on them.
This just started happening two weeks ago but it occurred 4 times already. When i first turn the car on sometimes the back speakers pop/crackle loudly and one time it occurred that the radio was not operational for about five minutes after the loud popping occurred. I have a full platinum lexus coverage on the vehicle but the issue is the dealership cannot replicate the problem with the car. On most of the post ive seen that the issue is most likely the amp. I was wondering if there is a way to replicate the issue at hand or am i going to have to records this and show it to the dealer.

One of the things wrong with the GX470 is the passenger door exterior molding is unclipped at the bottom. I ordered new clips from eBay and they just came in. Now I just need to figure out how to get the molding off without making the problem worse so I can replace all the clips.
How to install the rear door glass chrome molding? Do I need any special instructions?

I just picked up our first Lexus, an 08 RX 350 with 140 km on it and while we love the car, have run into a problem with the power windows and driver's door controls.
None of the power windows in the car work, either from the driver's door or from any other door.
The central locking on the driver's door does not work, but does work from the passenger's door and from the key.
The Memory Seat controls on the driver's door do not work. The controls on the seat itself work fine.
The side mirror controls work fine.
Yes, the battery did get low just before all this happened but we can't do the window reset procedure because none of the other windows work.
I've tested all fuses and they are all fine.
I am suspecting it's some controller or wiring in the door.
I have my 2004 gx470 in for service today. I have noticed that the air compressor seems to run longer and more frequent . I bought the trunk July of 2013. I have lexus plat extended warranty. Prior to this service in august of 2013 I was experiencing similar issues and when the truck was in then they replaced the rear air height control reservoir assembly . Now they are changing the rear drivers side airbag . My question is should air bags be replaced as a pair. Will I notice any ride difference since they are only replacing the one that is leaking . I would figure common sense would apply and that the air bag works or is does not.

View 6 RepliesI picked up a 09 ls460 swb a few months back and am slowly turning it into my daily.
at an angle causes a loud popping noise from my roof. I checked the headliner to see if anything was loose but came up with nothing. This occasionally happens on sharp turns on uneven ground.
I recently lowered my car so now this is happening way too often.
Like the subject says, I have been noticing over the last 2 months in my 03 GX470 that the interior lights and open door dash light come on when accelerating.
-The issue is exacerbated in cold weather. I have double checked all doors and rear hatch are closed.
-I have gone around and checked all door sensors are functioning, not sticky, etc.
-I climbed in the rear hatch and had my wife shut it. When I push on the plastic under the window, the lights come on. When I push on the glass itself (and push MUCH harder then on the plastic) the lights do not come on.
Clearly I have an issue in the rear hatch trim area.
My 2008 lexus GX470 shifter moves but wont go into gear into gear and A/TP dash light is on. However it will go into gear when I have it in 4 high or low. Is the transmission shot?

My sc430 is giving a loud pop right over passenger's side from roof, whenever my car goes over a bump or rough road. I think it's where the front hardtop latches are. Only on the driver's side. It's a loud pop sound.
Does this have something to do with the latch, or latch motors, that closes the power roof ? Would it work if I tighten the retractable top by turning the rubber button in the center back of the car, the one that exposes during roof operation as outlined by other posters here?
I have replaced the battery and determined that with the key turned off and doors unlocked the battery drain settles down to 130 milliamp after 60 seconds. If you lock the doors it settles down to the expected 20 milliamps after 60 seconds. Any description of what functions are turned off by locking the doors?
View 1 RepliesNew to my 2008 GX470. 100k miles. Love it so far. However I think I am hearing a intermittent rumbling as I drive down the road. It is like the rumble from a radio base sound. It could be normal road noise but I bet it is not.
I have replaced the left front axle (grease boot broken), replaced the rotors and pads, replaced all differential and transfer case fluids (not transmission yet) and inspected all the suspension parts.
So somehow my Left Rear Roof Molding came loose while I was driving and is missing now. ECS Tuning has one but I don't want to spend 70 bucks.
View 2 RepliesThe rubber molding at the bottom of my wife's driver's window (2007 Prius) has separated. Is replacing this molding a DIY job or do I need to pay the dealer? If I can do it myself, are there any tips for removing the old molding & installing the new?
