I have replaced the battery and determined that with the key turned off and doors unlocked the battery drain settles down to 130 milliamp after 60 seconds. If you lock the doors it settles down to the expected 20 milliamps after 60 seconds. Any description of what functions are turned off by locking the doors?
View 1 RepliesJust bought a 2013 ES300H. My question is there a setting that will keep the trunk unlocked when the car doors are unlocked when I do not have my key fob. I am all the time in the garage and will try to open the trunk and it is locked. My previous car an Acura RL was set liked this.
View 6 RepliesI just bought a 2008 BMW 535ia. I owned it four days before the battery died. I went back to the dealer I bought from and he told me that it was my fault -- I didn't drive the car enough. Said due to "advanced electronics" car has to be driven for at least 30 minutes each and every time other wise battery will continue to drain.
I work at home so I only drive the car three or four days a week,mostly for a 10 minute trip to town. I'm afraid to take this car anywhere. For me, luxury now means having a car that you know will start.
My 2008 lexus GX470 shifter moves but wont go into gear into gear and A/TP dash light is on. However it will go into gear when I have it in 4 high or low. Is the transmission shot?
View 9 RepliesHave owned my 2008 GX470 for about 8 months now and love it. However, over the last month I have noticed the molding between the driver door and roof has been popping out. I don't know if there are clamps down in there that have fallen out or if the molding just needs to be clamped back in. Picture is below.
View 5 RepliesNew to my 2008 GX470. 100k miles. Love it so far. However I think I am hearing a intermittent rumbling as I drive down the road. It is like the rumble from a radio base sound. It could be normal road noise but I bet it is not.
I have replaced the left front axle (grease boot broken), replaced the rotors and pads, replaced all differential and transfer case fluids (not transmission yet) and inspected all the suspension parts.
I believe my GX470, 03 model, use to unlock the drivers door automatically when I removed the key from the ignition. Now that the battery has been replaced the doors no longer unlock when removing the key. Is there a way to reprogram this?

No lights or accessories functioning. Alternator seems to be working. But still the battery is completely dead soon after. What is causing this?
View 10 RepliesI HAVE A 2005 f-150 LARIET 5.4 lt. I have been having a problem with my battery being drained. My stereo has been staying on once the truck has been turned off. It has also been coming on when the truck is parked all by itself and draining the battery. Sometimes when i am driving in the truck and turn the stereo on it wont come on, ten minutes down the road the stereo will all of a sudden come on. I have tried removing the relay for the stereo, no difference. I have also removed all fuses for the stereo and entertainment system, yet the draining of the battery is still occurring. What the problem could be?

My friend cleared all faults using VagCom. No change
He selected and deselected child locks. No change
Does it sound like something that is selectable via Vag Com?
Does it sound like two door handles that have one aspect that is functional and another aspect that is non-functional?
Does it sound like a Kessy issue, even though 4 doors can be locked and 2 doors can unlock?
I've been having an issue with my 2008 for the last several months and was wondering if this is a common problem, or unique to my vehicle.
View 17 RepliesI am new to the R32 but I have a 2nd owner 60k 2004. The battery keeps draining, put the new one in and it was good for a day. If you jump it, it will work for about 2days and then it is drained down to 3 to 4 volts. No lights or readout on gauges. I am stumped.

The back doors and rear lock fine. also I have them set to auto lock after you take off and again all lock but the front doors?
View 9 RepliesThe manual lists a ton of personalized settings that either you or the dealer can set. Problem is, I can't find in the manual where it describes how to set these personalized settings.
I found that you can set the smart door unlock so that it unlocks all doors instead of just the drivers side. It's pretty easy. You just get close to the car and hold lock and unlock down for about 5 seconds on your key fob. After 5 seconds you will hear two beeps. Two beeps means that all the doors unlock now when you use the smart door. Three beeps means only the drivers side door opens.
I have a 2010 Camry LE. I would like to make the headlights come on when I unlock the doors with the fob button. The interior lights come on now (briefly) but not the headlights. Is this customizable?

On one hand, it seems convenient that we don't always have to be messing with unlocking it before getting out but on the other hand, it seems like it could be dangerous if we accidentally grab the handle thinking the door is locked while driving...
View 13 RepliesQuestion for the group. I've searched on this and found a few others had the issue but didn't see a definitive cause listed. Both front doors no longer can be unlocked from the outside of the car (interior handles still work). It started with the driver's side and then an hour later "spread" to the passenger side front door. What would seem to be specific cause. I don't know much about the mechanisms that control the electronic locks (or even where they are housed) so need to know the cause and remedy for this.

Recently, mostly today, i noticed the battery has been draining quite fast. I was at 2 bars from full(or 3? whatever is pre "green") and probably 5-10min later i was 2 bars and the gas engine was running. Whatever seemed odd, maybe the traffic was a little slower today.
However i started driving 80kph and it took over 5 minutes for the car , without battery running, to bump from 5 bars up to 6. The electric motor was literally not driving the whole time, it was strictly gas the whole 5 min.
I was also considering taking this car for an inspection at the dealer just to ensure everything is okay before winter hits.
Over a period of several months, my 2008 Tucson began experiencing a series symptoms, which at the time, I didn't realize were related:
The stereo would occasional freeze up. It would still play, but the volume or channels couldn't be adjusted without restarting the vehicle. The washer fluid motor stopped working. This was a continuous failure.The check airbag light came on and stayed on.
One morning, several months after the first symptom appeared, I went outside to find the hazard lights turning on and off randomly. The car would not start. I had the battery tested. It was drained, but not defective. After putting the charged battery in , the car still would not start. I had it towed to the dealer.
Immediately after the car was taken off the tow truck, it started, the check engine light was off and the washer fluid motor was working. The diagnostic computer found no codes. The dealer cleaned and reattached the ground strap, and replaced the airbag pods as a precaution.
The car ran fine for several months, but then the radio and check airbag light problem started to appear again.
I took it to my regular mechanic this time. He could not find anything wrong, but gave me a new battery to try as a troubleshooting measure.
After a few months, the problems are now starting again.
We have 2 Priuses, and our older one has started draining battery quickly. It's my husband's primary commute vehicle and we're wondering if it's age related. We have had to do nothing except replace the regular battery once a few years ago. I spoke with a friend who has the same model year as us and she said they recently had to replace one of the hybrid cells (pardon me if this isn't the right terminology, we're not car people).
