Recently purchased 2006 GX470. Great truck! Previous owner installed 20" custom wheels and tires. About a week after purchase TPMS light began flashing. Ckd all tire prs. including spare. All good.

View 2 RepliesSo I recently got an '11 GS350 awd. No issues with the TPMS until today. In anticipation of next winter I went out and got a set of winter wheels with tpms. Yesterday I decided to hook up my new Techstream and program the second set of sensor IDs. When my wife drove the car today the tpms light came on flashing. I thought that meant that one or more senders was bad. Techstream showed four unique pressure readings for set 1 but had an error code for a bad sensor. Holding the learn button under the dash does nothing.
View 5 RepliesA couple of days ago the TPMS light started flashing on my 2004 GX. This morning I took it to a trusted tire shop. They checked each sensor, including the spare, and found they were all sending a signal. At 11 years old, and they are original as far as I know (I've owned it about 7 years), the tech said the signal may be too weak for the ECU to pick up. He didn't want to start changing sensors in the event it is an ECU issue. Not sure what to do for now, other than leave it alone. Is there a way to confirm the ECU is good? Do the scanners tell how strong the signal is?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2006 GX 470 with 130,000 miles on it. Recently, when driving on long trips I have noticed that the SRS bag light will come on after we stop after driving for a while. To be a little clearer, the car will start normally when cold, all dash lights will go through their sequencing and turn off. We will drive for a distance which will be long enough to heat everything up, say to the mall or a restaurant.
When we return to the car and I start it all lights go thru their sequencing and the SRS light stays on. Next morning, after the car has cooled, everything is normal again. Lexus says it is the 89170-60241 sensor assembly that is $489.26 plus $310.95 in labor to replace. While I have owned the car I have successfully replaced the air suspension rear sensors and all the O2 sensors and recently did an engine swap with my son on his Toyota Supra so I think I can handle the repair. Where is the sensor located and how is it accessed??
I have an 09 ES 350 that I decided to put some very nice subwoofers and amp in. When I found out that I needed more power, I took out my spare tire and mounted a second battery in where the tire is supposed to go.
We'll sure enough when I drove the car later the TPMS light came on and started flashing. The system has to be able to read all 5 TPMS sensors. 4 tires and the spare. So when I took the spare tire out, the system thought there was something wrong with that sensor and turned the light on.
So what I did was I took a piece of PVC pipe and 2 PVC caps, drilled a hole in one of the caps, inserted a new TPMS sensor into the cap, then glued everything together.
After it dried I pressurized it to 35 psi, mounted it in my trunk next to the jack, and reset the TPMS system so the light would go off. Now the TPMS system thinks the spare tire is back and there are no more problems.
So the other day I was listening to the radio, and all of sudden no more audio.. After some troubleshooting, and some reading. I am thinking it's the levinson amp. I have a few questions:
First where is the best place to buy a replacement.
I assume it's the piece under the passenger seat and it's as simple as undoing the bolts and swapping out the cables..
I did run the diagnostic with the holding info, and flicker the lights and everything came up as "ok". I just need to get audio going in this thing again for as cheap as possible!
Today I spent an eventful day at the dealership getting oil changes on my IS300 and my GS430. After leaving with my gs430, my Tpms light came on. So I went back to the dealer and they ran a check to confirm it is the Tpms. My service guy didn't tell me which tire went out but I'm planning on getting rims in a couple of months. Should I just order order a new set of tpm sensors or just find out which needs to be replaced and replace it

Each is in perfect condition, flawless in maintenance, and he has given me the option of choosing one to keep, and he will keep the other.
Input? I really don't know which to choose!
I just got my TMPS light on this morning, check pressure all 4 tires are good, 35 PSI each, did not check spare tire, does spare tire had TMPS sensor? what do you think? is one of my sensor is bad?
View 5 RepliesSo I was running stock Lexus 17' rims on my 2008 c350 RWD. The time came to replace the tires and I thought- instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars, why not use my brother's set for free (his stock 17' rims from his 2006 GS300 RWD were just lying in the garage taking up space). They were also 17's. So, I swapped all 4 out, stock rims included. Drove around for a bit and noticed the TPMS warning light came on.
Not the low pressure light, but the actual warning light. This happens every day. The car is fine driving the first 15-20 miles but after that, the light always eventually goes on..then it's magically reset when I start the car the next day.
Thursday driving home from work, the thing started dinging and all sorts of lights started flashing at me. I looked in the manual and (finally) found that it is the TPMS. The orange light on the left side blinks for 1 minute and then stays on steady. I also see "Check System" in the display under the speedometer and there is a red light with an explanation point (!) on the right side. Checked all tire pressure. All were at 30 PSI. Checked spare, it was good. Manual says if it blinks and stays steady, contact your dealer. Called...they can't look at it until Feb. 12. I drive 40 miles a day on average. Not a lot, but by 2/12 that is several hundred miles. what could be wrong and if i should still be driving this car?

View 4 RepliesHaving bought my 06 GX 470 only a few months ago, we're encountering 90-degree-plus days for the first time. There is an unusually loud noise from the engine that I'm almost sure is cooling fan noise. It occurs after running in the heat of the day. It's not mechanical noise, but a loud roar like that of a large truck engine. Is this typical for these models in the heat?

View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 Lexus GX 470, that i drove through a street with about 2.5ft of water the other day (there was no other option due to an crazy high tide coming up in downtown Charleston, SC).
This happened about a month ago. Afterwards I made it 500 yards and the car just powered off. While I was calling the tow truck (within 20 minutes), I was able to get it to crank back up. I drove it the next three weeks through Christmas without any issues. On Christmas I parked it and we drove our other car out of town. When I got back, it cranked for maybe 15 seconds, then died, and hasn't cranked since.
When I say it won't crank, all of the interior power and lights come on, but when you turn the key nothing happens. No clicking or anything such as a bad starter would cause.
I have taken it to the repair shop and they can't find the issue, and they tell me their scanner won't talk to my ignition, fuel injection, and I think emissions computer. They can talk to the ABS computer.

2006 GX470, ~65k mi. When shifting from P to R, P to D, or R to D, the transmission often (but not always) seems to have to think about it a while. When it shifts fine it takes about 1sec for the transmission to change gears. When it's being cranky it takes ~4secs. There are no other symptoms.
