Looking at a used 2005 GX470 -I found the hand brake doesn't engage.There is no clicking of gears as you pull up the handle nor any tension-nor is there a parking brake indicator light on.

Since last few weeks I have been hearing a soft beep every time I take foot off the brake. Today I had my windows down while driving and I realized that the soft beep is actually a loud noise like squeak or beep. I can hear a noise every time I take foot off the brake (NOT when putting foot on the brake).
Anyone can standing near the car or other car drivers at red-light can hear the sound too.. This happens when- the Car is in D, I take foot off the accelerator and press the brake (to slow down or complete stop) then take foot off the brake.
New to me 2005 with 99k miles
I've noticed this strange grinding/clunking/engaging noise. It seems like it sometimes associated with using the brake and shifting gears upon start-up.
What the heck could it be? It gets a little louder on left-hand curves of the road, but pretty much constant. Its not the tires, they are new as of a few months ago.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2005 f150 and it will not engage the front hubs. It is a manual shift on the fly not electric. I have done some checking and this is what i have found so far. Pull the lever into 4H, dash light comes on, IWE's do not lock onto axle. Same for 4L. The transfer case does come in when lever is pulled into either 4H or 4L. Front end up on jack stands, engine off. Turn either wheel and axle turns with it as it should. Start engine, turn either wheel and it is free from axle, as it should be. so there is vacuum going to IWE when engine is on. Not sure what to check next. Is the vacuum solenoid on the firewall bad?? Is there something not getting activated when i pull the floor lever back?
View 4 Replies1. When I am on a hill facing up a few times when I put my foot off the brake my car starts rolling backwards like it's in neutral. Then when I put my foot on the gas there is a funny noise and it seems the gear or something happens and I get power to move forward up the hill. The noise to me is quite unnerving like it should not be happening.
2. A couple of times when I have backed up out of a parking spot, when I come to a stop I hear a noise like a spring and while I am turning the steering wheel and putting the car into drive.
'05 Gx470 w/ 93k mi. Time for new parts for all orig. frt. suspension? Started having "Clunking" up frt. Assume time for new shocks all around. Also, grease from upper ball joints half-way down steering knuckle arm, so probably dry? Thinking of replacing everything up frt. incl. hub bearings while have all apart and be done w/ it. Notice in FSM that this means replacing both upper and lower control arms that come w/ bushings and ball joints installed. Parts very pricey even w/ discounts ( 27% at myLparts), somewhere around $3,500 +/-, incl. rr. shocks. Rather cry once and hopefully get get another 90K +/- mi. w/o problems. I've always gone w/ OEM parts in past and probably paid the price, but since I'm doing all the work, hopefully evens out in long run.
View 1 RepliesIs there a correlation between a Prius sitting in the hot sun and the computer malfunctioning? When I came out from a movie yesterday, the temps read 106 degrees outside the car. The emergency brake light was on, though the brake was off. I pumped the brake on/off a couple of times, but the light stayed on. As I pulled out, the brake seemed to engage, then disengage causing the engine to stutter and surge. The service tech today tells me the computer is not communicating and at 50,000 miles. Is it worth the money to get the new computer? Will the car be safe afterwards?
View 2 RepliesTrying to load the CD ... I put in 6 discs I've tried them label up, label down, Compact Disc Digital Audio, and regular CD-RI hear the changer making noise when installed. The system won't play the CDs. It just says "No CD" At one point it put up a "Bluetooth connectivity problem" message. The rest of nav sys seems to work. 2005 Nav Sys Factory Changer. I've never used it and just got the car.

Anyway, I'm hearing a strange whistle from the front right wheel, and I'm sure the sound comes from it. I made a youtube video so you can get the idea.
The sound starts at around 50km/h speed and it does not change after that, meaning that it doesn't become harder if I speed up and if I slow down to 40 or 20 it does not go away. But if the car is cold, it does not start until I reach 50-60km/h speed.
Also, I tried turning the engine off on neutral while driving and it did not influence the noise in anyway. So its not related to motor.
In the video it starts from 11s and you can hear it clearly starting at 57s when I speed up. Because of other sounds you probably can not hear it as clear as I can, but just listen to the whole video and I think you will get a clear idea.

The thing is, I went to a decent repair garage and they could not say what it is. So assume that basic things like breaks or the like were checked by mechanics.
I want to add that there probably was a hard hit to the right wheel recently while driving in reverse, I say "probably" because the person did it does not want to admit it and I can only guess, so I dont have an idea how it went. But I found a deep slicing (not sure if its the right word) on the right wheel tire and it was so deep (and around 5cm in width) that I had to replace the tire. So assume that there could have been a hard hit and the wheel took damage. The noise started a couple of the days after I found it.
I have a 2006 Gx 470, which is the wife's car.
Yesterday I couldn't drive the car when 4WD shifter was in neutral.
The transmission would not engage in R or D.
Same thing when the car was put in low for the 4WD shifter.
However, it seems to drive normally when the shifter is in H.
When I went to put the shifter in Park from either the low or Neutral position it would have a high grinding noise.
Car is in the shop as we speak.
I have a 2004 GX470; bought it new. The last few months I have been hearing a strange noise from the driver's side; seems to be coming from under the floorboard and can sometimes feel a vibration in the brake pedal. The noise is similar to a cat meowing. Have a son who is a GM tech; he said it sounds more electrical than mechanical. It happens mostly when I drive it cold. Seems to also happen more when turning/braking. I had the main belt replaced this summer. Should I have the tension pully replaced?
