I have been having issues with the tires rubbing even on a slight dip on the freeway specially when running at about 70 mph . I have a 20x9 front offset 32 tires 245/35/20 and 20x10 rear offset 35 tires 275/30/20. I also installed tanabe nf210 springs. Is it bec of the offset? What can I do to get rid of it?
View 14 RepliesI got an 03 f250 with a 10 inch lift on 40x14.50 tires on 20x10 fuel hostage wheels. They rub my springs pretty bad when trying to make even the slightest kind of tight turn and the sound they make when they rub is even worse than them actually rubbing. My question is should i stay with this tire and wheel setup and try to get some 6061 billet aluminum 2 inch spacers? (I'm not sure about going that route though because of what i heard about spacers) or go down to some 38s with a 20x14 wheel that hopefully would push the tire away from the hub like spacers would do. I'm leaning more towards going to 38s because of the rubbing and also because I feel they might look better on the 10 inch lift rather than the 40s but dont know whats the best thing to do.

View 14 RepliesSo, lately I've noticed a slight fluttering sound in my '08 GS460 when accelerating on the freeway or up a slight incline. It'll kick in around 2,000-4,000 RPM, and it almost sounds like it's coming from right underneath the center console. I did have an exhaust system installed, then uninstalled, so maybe it's something the shop did, but can't be positive whether or not it was there before (always drive with my music on pretty loud).

1. My 2002 SC430 with 23,000 miles on it is making a low rubbing noise when slowing down, with a slight vibration, not severe enough, but it is annoying and frankly surprising on this car. The dealer tells me it's because the brakes have "glaze" on them, and short of a new brake job, you can jam on the brakes to clear or loosen some of this and reduce the noise. ( I live in the desert so I'm sure I could find a deserted stretch or road for this craziness...) The dealer reports the brakes have 70 - 80 percent life on them and I don't need a brake job.
2. Power steering. I thought this particular car was just hard to steer, but even the tech at the dealer commented it's like I have no power steering. I test drove two other cars, and the steering is markedly lighter on the other two SC430's I drove. (2002 and 2005) Dealer can't seem to find an explanation, but I have to drive this car with two hands around town... I know this is not the way this car was intended to feel.
I don't believe the car changed that much from the 2002 model so as to affect the steering. BTW, I'm using stock tires, not run flat, 4 months old. And the steering is stiff at idle anyway, regardless of tires. The first SC I drove, which sealed the decision to buy one, was so quiet I didn't know the engine was running, easy to steer, and smooth.
I recently purchased a 2009 es in good condition, the tires were quite old and loud and the car pulled to one side. I purchased some primacy's and they are great, however the pulling/poor alignment was still there, I then took it back to the dealership and they rotated the tires which actually worked with the pulling but then there was a slight vibration from about 100-130, by 140 it's gone, but i seldom drive that fast.... I then had the tires re-balanced and the alignment done again, the vibration perhaps lessened but i can still feel it...

View 14 RepliesSo my lovely wife tells me that something sounds sounds like it is rubbing from underneath the hood of my Lexus. So I take it to the dealership and they tell me it's the the the tensioner for the timing belt needs to be replaced. So I have them replace it and In the process they tell me that it sounds like there is something wrong with the fuel pump but they were able to quiet down though I don't understand how. Anyway after I pick the car up it sounds exactly the same as it did when I left it, personally I don't feel like I should pay for labor on this repair but besides that I don't understand what this issue could be. It sounds like something is rubbing while the car is running.. Lexus 2002 ES300 ..
View 8 RepliesI purchased a ES300h in March 2013. Starting end of September I noticed a rattle (pebbles in a tin can tumbling sound) when I went up a slight grade, accelerating from a stop, or accelerating after a brief coasting on the freeway. The first time at the dealer they said stop using Costco gas and use Top Tier. I used Shell and Chevron and there was a 80% improvement but the nuisance still continued, some days more and some days less, meaning when it rained it poured.
On the third visit to the dealer, with two specialists on a ride along of course it does not make that noise, but left it there for them to find the continued problem and they conceded it is engine knock to which there is nothing out of specs with the engine AND say that this is normal. I have never had a car do this, maybe specific to hybrids? The service advisor goes on to tell me that they filled my tank with 91 octane to stop the knock, BUT, the manual says use 87!!!
Some say this can lead to engine damage, some say only blown gasket, the dealer says no problem! A friend of mine has the same car and has no issues.
I just recently dropped my car on BC racing coilovers 16k fronk and 14k rear. I am having slight rubbing issues in the Front only. For everyone that's dropped on coils, if you were rubbing what did you do? I currently have my dampening set on 16/32. The rubbing is actually only on my front fender liners. I love the comfort with 16/32 and don't want to turn it up stiffer and I don't want to raise it up too much. I was told to raise it, turn up stiffness or heat up fender liner and push it up or in a bit. Also for the rear since its 2 piece suspension, to raise or lower the rear 1/2 inch would you adjust the height on the BC struts or the BC springs (the one that's sitting in the bucket)? A shop installed mine and I've only owned 1pc rear suspension for my other cars.
View 5 RepliesSteering wheel will turn about 35 degrees left or right when one side of the street is uneven and you take your hands off the wheel ? I guess I haven't noticed it much in these 3 months because I am always in Sport mode, which stiffens the wheels as we all know, but today as i was driving in Normal, I was on a street that kind of tapered to the right on an approx. 5 degree angle and the wheel turn itself pretty dramatically. I corrected my path and it would shoot right soon as i took my hand off the wheel. Its definitely not an alignment issue because its straight like an arrow. And all tires have 33 psi cold. Then i noticed again on the freeway, i know its uneven pavement but the amount the wheel turns is pretty substantial.
Also, when you make a 90 degree turn the steering wheel doesn't really retract itself back too good, you kind of have guide it back. But putting it in Sport mode fixes all that. Besides that i love the steering, you can take turns at ridiculous speeds (not that i do ) and it eats the the turn right up, no problem, and you dont even break a sweat. The car is phenomenally well balanced. Love the GS
I have a 2013 GS350 thats lowered on Tanabe Springs and 20s. It looks nice but the only problem i have is rubbing against the plastic (that what it sounds like) lining in the fender well. This only happens when I make a quick left turn or U turn. The tire size is 245/35/20.
View 5 RepliesI recently had my 2013 Lexus RX 350 15,000 mile service which included tire rotation and balance. The service was performed at the dealership where I bought the car. Less than two weeks later, both tires on the left side went COMPLETELY flat. The front tire so flat that it was actually coming off the rim when I stopped the car because it was driving funny. The distance was out of my garage and down the driveway. The serviceman initially said it was a slit on the outer edge of the tire. Now they are saying it was a pinhole in both tires. Is it possible something could have gone wrong during the servicing to cause the tires on my brand new car to go flat?
View 18 RepliesES300h, 17" rims, Dunlop SP Sports, and I'm getting a lumpy and uncomfortable ride first thing in the morning. Outside temps are 10C or lower and tire pressure is 210 kPa or 30 psi, although the tires warm up to 230 kPa or 33 psi after a few minutes.
Is it normal for all season tires to feel lumpy when cold? I don't want to pump it up higher because the tires would probably hit 36 psi when warm.
I have a 2007 ES350, twice now when turning a corner from a stop my tires or back end has stuttered.

Not sure how to take the top half (where the wood trim is) off without breaking any remaining clips.
Experienced a rattle coming from the console area... a week or two ago I was driving home from work and I heard a "slight" rattle noise.. it sounded as if it was coming from the dash area... This concerned me because when I first bought my car about 18 months or so ago, there was a very annoying squeak in the dash when the temp dropped below 50 degrees... I took it back to the dealer several times for that squeak, and finally a young tech there figured out the problem and fixed it.. still quiet to this day... so anyway I'm hearing this very faint rattle sound ( on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the loudest, this would be a 2 or a 3 ) and it appears to be from the dash area...
I keep feeling around and putting pressure on different parts of the dash with no luck... then quite by accident I laid my hand across the counsel and as soon as my fingers pressed up against the round that selects eco / normal / or sport, the rattle stopped... removed my hand, rattle started again, just put one finger on the round and the rattle stopped...
So I had the car into the dealership for oil and filter change saturday and I saw that same tech that fixed my squeak last year... told him about the issue and while the car was in the shop he pulled the console.. said he couldn't find anything really wrong except that some of the clips were not lined up.. he didn't know if it would work but he said he insulated all the clips and a few other areas inside the console with some thick felt... charged me nothing... zero.... Don't know if the problem is permanently fixed, but I have not heard it in the two days since...
