When driving slow, and hit little bumps it sounds like its a loose exhaust, or something metal is loose. The sound is coming from the drivers side. What it might be, or had the same problem? Really don't want to take it all the way to the dealer.
View 14 RepliesSo for a couple months now, my ride has been making some weird noises.
When I start the car up after anything longer than a couple hours of use, it sounds as if I have a piece of loose metal banging/moving around. I hear it sporadically on shifting through the gears, and when I'm at a stop.
Car has been in to the dealer three times, and I took the foreman on a test drive...of course it wouldn't make the sound at all.
I took a look under the hood today and noticed that the coolant level is low...filling it back up tomorrow. That got me thinking about the transmission fluid....I looked and looked, and can't find the transmission dipstick anywhere.
Any clue where I can find some way to check the level?
Have had the puppy about a month. Getting about 31+ on the Hwy. Anyhoo for the real story, we got home today and noticed that there was a seal around the the sunroof, well on the driver side that was loose. Sort of a flex/accordion type. The other side didn't have one. Not sure, but it looks like it folds over to the outside under the slide track, but not sure. The other side is gone.
View 4 RepliesI got some coilovers installed last night, they are ksports. i have them on fairly low height as of now but i have noticed every time I hit bumps, I hear a kthunk (metal hitting metal noise) from my front driver side. is it from the coilover nuts itself or something wrong with my control arm? the sound ONLY comes from the front DRIVER side.
View 4 RepliesFrom day 1, my car's been making this wind noise from driver's side window. It sounds like window is very slightly open and wind is sipping through at high speed, 60mph+.
I've read posts about our side mirror shape that might be at fault. I've also seen people mentioning how GS does not have "window fin" thing by side mirror when ES and LS have it.
So today while driving on highway when there was significant wind sipping noise, I folded my side mirror to see if that made any difference. Nope, no difference, not louder, not quieter. So I started to feel my hand along the window from inside, pushing different parts to if that made a difference. And there was one place that made the wind noise go away.
I found out that rubber/plastic guide on the door, top portion, right by the b-pillar, somewhat triangular shape part was loose. On passenger side, it was fitted tight but on driver's side, it was a bit loose. I fixed it tight and test drove, pretty windy weather, no wind noise now!!!
Today I visited my Dealer to check out the wind noise that we are hearing - driver and passenger. They did agree after a road test that there is a wind noise. They also took out another GS 350 and noticed the same. They called CA to check if others reported this problem and the answer was no. The Service Consultant indicated this will be entered to review in more detail. While waiting, I looked at cars in the showroom. The triangle filler at the front of the windows on the GS 460 and ES models had a horizontal ridge molded in this filler piece. Not sure for the reason - wind noise reduction?
Also, wanted the oil changed at 3K miles and the Consultant indicated it was not necessary. Stated that oil change is not needed until 10K miles due to now using synthetic oil. I do not agree with this. Will have oil changed in the next week to remove any fines that may be in the oil of the new engine.
Requested changes to the number of lane change turn signal blinks and lowering windows when depressing FOB unlock. The latter was no problem due to using a laptop interface. However, the signal change is using a combination of turn signal and wiper levers. I have a copy of the instructions and never have seen anything so complex. I don't understand why these changes cannot be make by the owner similar to some of the other features.
So I've been having some extra wind-noise from my driver side window when I am driving 50+ m[h. So at my oil change this past week, I noted this with my advisor and she said they would look into it.
Long story short I get my car back Wednesday and everything is taken care of, Windnoise is gone, aluminum side plates fixed and they even filled my tank. from 1/4 to full.
Flash forward to today, Friday. I noticed that my driver and passenger front windows had some stickers on them, noting that they were made in japan and only the car owner can remove them, I also notice there is a haze. I drove about 100miles in the last 2 days, mostly right at the crack of dawn and just before dusk. But today Friday it was ultra bright and I realized there was no tint on my front windows.
Lexus had actually replaced both the driver and passenger windows due to the excess windnoise, which to me is crazy, cause it really wasn't that bad. I called my service advisor about this issue, before I had releaized they replaced the windows and she said they should of re-tinted them and that they forgot too, so bring my car back in next week.
Long story short, Lexus is pretty awesome and I cant believe they replaced the windows for some wind noise. I honestly wouldn't of had them do that and spend all that money for something so insignificant, but kudos to them.
I have a squeaking noise coming from my rear driver side tire. I changed my brake pads and one was missing. All it had on there is what looks like a shim. ( pics below )
After finishing the job I drove my car and the noise continues. It's mainly when I'm in reverse. Has any one else had this problem? My car is at 50k miles.
I have a 2003 Toyota Solara 4 cyl. auto. transmission. I recently had the head replaced. Now it is making a metal on metal sound near the drivers side of the engine. It makes the sound during idle, when I change gears, and the sound increases when I rev the engine. What could it be?

View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded from my '14 IS 250 to a '15 GS 350. So far I am loving the car except for one thing. When driving above 50mph, there is a very loud whistling/squeaking noise coming from the driver side mirror area that is driving me crazy when the window is open. If i close the mirrors, it goes away.
I plan to have the dealer look when i go for the 5k service.
I just got new es300h 2015, first day i already noticed noise from hood when driver side door opened, after door closed then opened, noise is gone.
Noise usually happened when car cooled down. I brought this issue to dealer they response its normal in hybrid car. I really doubt explanation.
So i have had my r now for a lil under 2 weeks, just noticed a strange noise, seems to be coming from the front drivers side, its a low whine/hum, almost like a pump or small motor is running and is very similar to when you use your wiper fluid. the noise is only present when the engine is cold and typically only does it two to three times while stopped. Just seeing if this is a normal thing, never heard anything like this on my previous vw.
View 4 RepliesIts a fairly quiet clicking noise. Not constant and starts randomly. I can really hear it when i am in the fast lane next to a barrier or crub? I recently started autoxing. So maybe i beat up something - what it would be though. I checked all my fender liners and splash guard. Everything looks good, but this noise is driving me nuts.
View 4 RepliesA year ago I heard occasional metal grinding noise coming from the front, sounding like front driver side. Sounded like CV joints that I heard before. The mechanic said it's transfer case/transmission problem, so I replaced the transmission but the noise came back a few days later. The mechanic said to drive it for a while and the noise may go away, if getting worse he can fix it since it has 2-year warranty.
Now a year later the noise becomes predicable and easily reproducible, I went back and asked them to check. They said it may be passenger side axle. I am feeling being manipulated.
My driver side does not fold in anymore. I can hear the motor but it doesn't fold.
View 2 RepliesThe last couple of days I've noticed a metal clinking noise coming from the right front wheel area when I go over bumps. The best way I can describe it is what it sounds like when there's a loose washer and nut on a bolt. A metal on metal sort of thing. Tonight I was able to replicate the sound I heard by pounding on the tire and got it on video and posted it below. Watch in HD to hear the sound I'm referencing clearly.

A couple of things to consider:
1. Just had spacers installed a few days ago
2. Also diagnosed the "clicking brake while turning slowly" issue. Thread about it here: [URL] .... Wondering if this has anything to do with the noise.
I have an appointment with Lexus tomorrow morning to have the brake clicking fixed under the TSB and several other issues addressed. Mostly rattles...
The front of the rear bumper on the driver's side is loose from the main body. The clip on the bumper is ripped from where it tore. I've gone ahead and bought the clips and everything from Lexus near me, but need to know the best epoxy or glue to reconnect the clip area on the bumper so I can apply the clips.
Is the bumper on that spot (the back side of it, not the painted exterior, if that makes sense) fiberglass.
I have a loose, binding, metal on metal sound on my steering wheel shaft. I have removed the steering wheel, replaced the clockspring, because when I removed wheel clockspring was in pieces and I thought that might be the issue. Guess not, because I'm still having problem. Other than having to remove or replace the whole steering column...

When driving in my parking garage, I can hear a slight metal on metal noise. An extreme example would be sharpening a knife on a sharpener, its not as loud or predominate.
-I've checked the lugs, they are secure.
Car has springs and spacers.
