I have had my car for a few months now and over the last week or two I have noticed a sound coming from the rear. It happens when the car is shifted from park to drive, as well as the car lowering an inch. Is there something wrong with the car or is this normal?

View 1 RepliesMy wife's 2004 GX 470 was not going into low gear from 2nd, so of course I used some pressure and i heard something break inside the gear shifter (sounded plastic), now the shifter won't stay in 4th from drive and will shift out of park even when the car is off. Could this be the shift lock control? I know the linkage was probably the fault initially when not going into L from 2nd gear, but now I have this issue to deal with.
View 1 RepliesI have a 13 Altima and have been hearing a clunk/pop sound when coming to a stop and sometimes when changing from park to drive and park to reverse. It seems to also be there when accelerating too and the car is also seem to be vibrating when moving at lower speeds. Today i noticed something else. I parked the car and took the key out. I went to the side of the car and slowly rocked it back and forth and started to hear this clunk sound. I have uploaded it to youtube and can be found here [URL].... . After hearing the sound, I decided to take the driver wheel off and noticed it makes the same sound when i move the tires. It seems to be coming from the CV joint, where it connects to the transmission. why would a car make that clunk sound with the car/key off and swayed back and fourth? does this seem like a CV joint issue or something related to the transmission.

About one month ago, I could hear a humming sound at the back of the car (somewhere around backseat or in the trunk). At that time, car was parked in the garage. This sound is similar to having several honey bee in that area and humming at the same time. The sound disappeared by itself after several hours.
Yesterday, it happened again. We parked the car in the garage around 4pm and did not hear this sound at that time. At around 10pm, when I went to garage to get some tools, I heard this humming sound again. This morning, as soon as I woke up, I checked the car and the sound is gone.
I am not sure if there are any other reports of similar issue for 2013 ES350, or maybe this issue is just for my particular car? And this humming sound is not always there, so I am not sure how to repeat it in the repair department. Maybe I need to bring it to delaership and just let service technician take a look.
On the December day my 2013 Prius Five model (hatchback with all the safety add ons, bigger wheels) turned 18 months old, i was on the way to have one of the freebie services. I heard a metallic rattle, seemingly coming from the back of the interior. It continues and I cannot find a source for it. I just read a thread about rattles in the 2011s. Not particularly comforting given what I spent on the car.
Is this something I could have the dealer chase under the warranty? (this is the first new car i ever bought in my 50 years of driving, so my familiarity with new car warranties is a little thin.)
My dealer has been pretty responsive -- swapping out an interior door panel as a freebie when the armrest portion separated from the lower portion and collapsed into the door.
Had spilled little bit of gas in trunk, wiped it off and closed the trunk.
After opening the trunk next morning smell of gas in trunk and back seat of car
Left all car windows open 24 hours and trunk 6 hours,gas smell subsided 90%
While coming back from mall, while driving lowered both rear windows to maximum...as I was driving @ 50 MPH..Extremely annoying sound started coming from back windows area....it was unbearable annoying...so closed the windows and sound was gone.
Checked oil and it was full. What is this UFO sound with rear windows down.
2013 Elantra GT prompted me to join. There is a creaking sound coming from the closed panoramic sunroof when I drive slowly over an uneven surface (e.g. driving over an uneven gravel driveway that has potholes). It is only an issue when the car is subject to a twisting action, and the roof is closed. For example, there is no creak when I drive 90 degrees over a speed bump; but, there is a creak if I drive over the speed bump at a diagonal. The creak disappears when the sunroof is open. I have taken the car back to the dealership several times and they don't know how to address the problem .
How this creak can be eliminated (without use of sledge hammer, which has crossed my mind at few times; also, driving with the sunroof open all the time is not an option for those of us living in the north).
When I drive with windows down I can hear a whirring from the motor. Its like if it is low on power steering fluid. Its not constant with RPM. I am pretty sure the steering is electric but WTH can it be? I am dreading winter cause I will have windows down all the time then and I will have to crank the stereo to block it out.

I had a test drive with a mechanic from our Lexus dealership, and he told me that every 2013 RX350 he ever drove made that noise. Is that true?
View 14 RepliesI recently starting hearing a very audible clicking/ticking sound in the rear that happens for about a second each time the car is started. After, everything seems to be just fine, but I don't know if this is something I should be concerned about.
I recently did some suspension work and I don't know if this is somehow related or if I'm now just extra sensitive to the sounds my car makes after the work was done. Perhaps the auto parking brake disengaging?
My wife called today after arriving at work letting me know she was having trouble shifting the car from D(drive) to P(park). I know the Gear box is set up in a stepped configuration. Sometimes its smooth shifting up to park and other times its not.

I've had this ongoing issue where unless I first shift car from park to neutral and back again, the push button start will not work. After I do this car starts up fine every time.

View 5 RepliesEarly senility or perhaps just a busy mind has led me to turn off the ignition key before shifting from drive back to park. This is obviously not natural for the car but it did not seem to do any harm. I am wondering however if it can be damaged by this?
View 6 RepliesI have had a 2000 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 liter 4 cyl Automatic for about 5 or 6 years now. I have noticed the whole time I have owned it that when I start the car and shift from Park to Drive I hear a clunk and the with the hood open the engine pivots back and forth one time more than it is supposed to. This only happens from park to drive, it does not do this from park to any other gears, and once the car is in drive everything is normal. The car has no shifting problems at all, no slips or clunking while driving or hitting the gas real fast on take off.
I changed the all three mounts on the car yesterday. Upper engine mount (still in decent shape), lower dogbone (tore to hell), and Transmission mount (decent). I really haven't noticed it get any worse over the years I just know its not right. I have never changed the fluid or the filter since I owned the car, and most likely it has never been changed in the cars life. Could a dirty filter, and dirty fluid cause this problem? Or could the linkage need adjusted or replaced?
My 2013 Elantra won't shift out of park. I know that I should check fuses, but what fuses might be associated with this. (The brake lights are not affected)...
View 1 RepliesI have been driving a 2003 Chevrolet cavalier and the automatic shift is stuck and can only shift to neutral and drive since Thursday morning. It wont go up to reverse and parking and down to the other 3 shifts.
This first happened last April but somehow with the right grip or pressure was able to get back to all the other shifts. Since then it happened 2-3 times as I can remember and now could be getting worse.
I own a Elantra 2011 and I have a major problem. I cannot shift from PARK to DRIVE and my electric windows doesn't work either ! Everything else working fine and the car start normally !! The dealer cannot find the trouble and the car just have 19802 KM on it!!
