I just painted my caliper and now I hear some popping sound when I brake or when I completely stopped. if I bring it to the dealer will they denied the warranty because I painted the caliper?
View 2 RepliesEver since installing my Joe Z axle back exhaust.I get a popping sound when coming to a stop, especially if decelerating harder. I know this type of thing happens to bikes when you don't get them tuned after but I haven't read anything about Tuning the Lex. Is this normal? Are other guys with the aftermarket exhaust and intake having this same sound at times?
View 12 RepliesI bought a 2015 ES350 in August and have a couple of weird noises.
First is what sounds like either door rubber seal on body rubber seal or window on rubber seal noise over certain types of bumps. Is this common? I can live with this until I bring it in for its first service, but it might be a simple fix I can do.
The second is more of a concern. When I'm moving slowly over an angled surface like a driveway that might cause some "twist" of the car, there can be a loud pop sound. Since it does not happen very often, it is very difficult to locate, and I'm sure its one of those things the dealer service department will never hear. When it happened over the weekend, it almost sounded like it was coming from the roof. This morning, it sounded like it might have come from the rear driver side door, but it is hard to tell.
I had a strange issue today when I left work and started my car. I got in, put my foot on the brake and pushed the ignition button like normal. The lights all came on for a moment and then everything just went out. The brake felt stuck and no electronics would work and the engine did not start. I couldn't get anything to work, I thought my battery was dead, however when I got out of the car (key in my pocket as usual) the car came back to life. I got in and started and it worked fine.

I am at a stop light after driving for a bit. Car in drive obviously, foot on brake. If I press the brake very firmly, almost to where it hits the floor board, the slip indicator light comes on and flashes, and call stalls (or goes into idle). I am forced to shift car into park, and then shift back into drive. Or I have to turn car off, and back on again.
What was going on - I was reaching over to the passenger seat while at a stopped light and pressed down the brake pretty hard by accident. But I am now able to replicate it.
I bought a brand new 2013 elantra last year and currently has 20,000 miles on it. I had custom halos installed as my lights that turn on automatically when the car is on and is on continuously. I also have hids installed into the headlights.
Last week my battery sign came on when I turned the car on and after driving about 20 minutes the car completely stopped and did not turn on. Took it to the dealership and they first denied me warranty saying because of all the aftermarket stuff we cant touch this car for free. So I paid for the diagnostic which was $102 and after they told me that your alternator fried but they are not sure why. Would it be because of the halos and hids??
What is the common cause of brake light failure? I drive a 2005 F150 Lariat 4X4. When i started the lights flickered until they completely stopped working. To me it seems like a short, is there a specific, common place where a wire is not properly mounted or rubs on something?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 V12 Phaeton with 50k miles. Wonderful car to drive but unending series of electrical and mechanical problems. On FM, the sound completely stopped. The receiver seems to be working since all radio stations are displayed on the screen. But there is no sound. AM and CD both work. The dealer took a look and told me that they couldn't pinpoint the problem and that I would have to replace the entire entertainment console.
Unrelated but also annoying, all within the last month: the horn stopped working (dealer can't figure out why), one of the windshield wipers stuck in the up position, drainage canals plugged resulting in backseat flooding after a heavy rain that shorted electrical connections in rear seat (the dealer said this was a widespread "design defect" in Phaetons and Audi A8's) and front passenger seat heater shorted burning a hole in the leather (and, almost, my wife's rear).
I am looking at both the ES350 and the ES300h. After driving both, I am not sure I can get used to the regenerative braking sound from the 300h when coming to a stop. How have other 300h owners reconciled the noise?
View 11 RepliesI just got a used low-milage 2013 LS460, and noticed that every time I tap the break pedal I hear a "clicking" sound coming from under the dash or hood. This seems to happen every time I touch or press on the brakes, at seemingly any speed. It sounds almost like an actuator of some kind... perhaps like the type which allows the transmission to shift out of park. Is this normal, or an indication of a an issue?
View 14 RepliesAfter 1-2 mins I turn off my car I hear a popping sound from under the car. Usually it goes after some sounds of cooling down the metal and ticking, and then a pop sound. Nothing during the driving. I did some research and found that it may be Catalytic Converter cooling down or the heat shield.

View 5 RepliesAs of yesterday the gas pedal started losing power completely. It only happens for a brief moment when I'm driving and only in the morning. The car does not shake, rpms don't drop and no check engine light. I'm not sure what's going on, I can't replicate it so going to Lexus is pointless at this point.I was thinking maybe its my fuel pump going bad?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2013 Santa Fe, 2.2 Diesel AWD and have recently experienced this popping sound. The sound is normally noticed within seconds of switch off the engine and is loud enough to make people jump with surprise. When I originally complained I was told this was normal ... nonsense I said as having owned vehicles from various manufacturers(Nissan, SAAB, Renault, VW, Chrysler, Mazda, Lexus) over the last 25year I've never experienced anything like this. Car is back in for a 90K klm service and repeated my complaint - lets see what happens. To me this is coming from the catalytic converter and when I look at the box underneath the car it has numerous bump/dents on it yet has never been offroad.
View 2 RepliesI recently got a 2014 Lexus GS F-Sport, fully loaded. I made a dumb mistake of taking my car in to a shop to have my roof vinyl'd black. And so, they also had to blackout the shark fin antenna on top. They recommended painting it metallic black as it wouldn't have looked good wrapped. So I agreed without knowing. After painting and taking the car home, I noticed the Navigation was off and my GPS was showing me going in a completely different direction. I have calibrated it so many times and it stays on course with me for about one block then starts going off into a different direction on its own. Will removing the paint fix this? Is this something the Dealer has to handle, and if so, charge me for it?

View 2 RepliesSo just recently (few days back) I was playing a DVD Disc, home-burned, with just audio on it. It has about 33 tracks of music on it. I noticed that towards the end of the disc (track 27), it started skipping, having crackling and popping sounds, and eventually just stopped playing and the timer went blank on the screen.
I took it out, the disc looked perfect (I had just burned it). I cleaned the disk anyway, put it back in, and it played fine. The next day, I noticed the same problem with the same disc. I removed the disc, cleaned it, and this time it did not solve the problem.
This morning, I tried a different disc (16 tracks), and the same problem happened after playing track 16 for a few seconds. Crackling/popping, skipping, and then playback stopped. This was also a home-burned DVD disc. No errors are displayed on the screen.
I have noticed no issues towards the beginning of any discs. I have not tried my store-bought DVDs after noticing this issue, but will try those today to see if they have the same problem. If those discs also have the same issue, is it likely an issue related to the laser?
I've got about 21k miles on the car. I have a 2013 ES 350 with the Mark Levinson system.
My wife has a 2013 GS350.....when she backs out of the driveway, turning at a slight angle...there is a loud pop that sounds like it is coming from the rear. The noise does not repeat during normal driving or going over bumps...just when backing out at an angle to the left. Dealer could not repeat the noise. Almost sounds like the strut brace/bar is loose or something along those lines.
View 3 RepliesWent to leave for work this morning and released the parking brake and she wouldn't budge. Had to give it quite a bit of gas to finally move, along with a big popping sound. It was cold out, and haven't been using the PB in cold weather lately but did yesterday and this happened. Is there something that needs to be done with the brake? Thought I might have to get towed.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2008 F250 which has been a awesome truck. Very few issues except for one that no one can seem to fix. Its regarding my brakes and a mysterious reason all of them have to a degree locked up and smoked the pads rotors etc. I now have 80k on the truck and have replaced all brakes once and now the front left have locked up for a second time. The scenario goes like this:
So i'm driving along and if the front brake locks up I can begin to smell it. So I pull over and smoke rolls out along with the overheating popping sound from the effected brake. Rear brakes usually are not found until I stop which i get out and then can smell them. Funny thing is the brakes have locked up when not towing. Also, I have never had more than one happen at a time. So as today all brake pads and rotors have been replaced and now the left front has overheated again. From what I can tell the caliper just doesn't fully release. What could be causing this?
